Strange rank behavior
-
Hi, I was ranked 16th (second page) on google italy for the keyword "realizzazione siti internet" (high and competitive serach volume) on an internel landing page: http://www.spotview.it/soluzioni-web-complete/realizzazione-siti-internet.html and everything went fine, that was my strategy planed for placement of selected keyword. The same page was ranked also for more relating keyworks just few position far from the main keyword.
Now starts the strange behavior, suddenly on the end of september google.it decides to switch the landing page to the home page of the site! (absolutely not optimized for "realizzazione siti internet") and the for the others releated keyword the url disappear completely from the serp.
Checking back into my link building database I found that some guys of my staff inserted wrong new links with the exact keyword "realizzazione siti internet" pointing to the home! not so good!
those wrong links are about 10 with exact keyword and another 10 with releated keyword.
So I decided to continue inserting links pointing to the right landing page http://www.spotview.it/soluzioni-web-complete/realizzazione-siti-internet.html to balance and to let google switch back to exact url.
moreover I also tried to remove some wrong link with a little rate of succes
Could somebody please tell me why now at about 45 day past the "landing switch error" the problem is not solved? somebody has suggestion or strategies to apply?
thanks in advance

Chances are that if you keep doing what you're doing with the link building and take my advice and suggestions above, then Google will, at some point (impossible to predict when) switch back to your original landing page or list it as well as your homepage.
So yes I expect your original landing page to be there again, though can of course be no guarantees, so keep working at it
-
hi and thanks for response, so do you think that google will not switch back the to the original landing page but it will keep the wrong one and rank also the right url?
-
Thank you.
A good point from yourself there, could indeed result with a double listing
-
I agree with Simon.
The upside from this is that when the internal page starts ranking again you might have a double listing in this SERP.

Hi Filolari
Well done, you've performed the correct actions to try and get your internal page back ranking for the term "realizzazione siti internet". It's even the first page linked to under the 'Featured Spotview' section on your homepage, it's in the navigation, so it's well linked to from your homepage. It's also in the Title, Description and H1 tag on your internal page, which all helps.
Your robots.txt file looks fine, nothing to worry about there.
As the homepage is often (not always) the strongest most authoritive page, it can take time for a deeper page to rank for a particular keyword instead. Switching back from the homepage will take a while, just need to wait a while longer and try as many of the following as you can to aid the process:
- Your website doesn't appear to have a sitemap.xml file, it's not located at http://www.spotview.it/sitemap.xml ~ I'd suggest creating a sitemap.xml file and submitting it to Google via Google Webmaster Tools.
- I'd suggest to continue what you're doing, obtaining more natural links to your internal page from other good quality relevant websites, with the optimized anchor text.
- Perhaps create a useful & interesting Infographic with a link back to the page, then distribute the Infographic to a variety of relevant websites.
- Create some more new unique content on your website to keep it fresh, where relevant, link some of these pages (only if appropriate to do so, avoid significant link sculpting) to the page you're trying to get ranking highly again.
- When the opportunity arises, do a Press Release and distribute it well, linking back to the page.
Hope that helps,
Regards
Simon

Fluctuation in Ranking for the keywords
We were ranking well for most of the keywords. These keywords were at first page i.e mostly @ 1st and 2nd position in Google. But we have put the following tag ie no index tag for our pages by mistake and after that the ranking fluctuated & fell down in Google search results as our pages were out of index in Google .We have removed the noindex tag after encountering the problem. Now I can see my pages are cached & indexed in Google after submitting to index in Google webmaster tool. Can I regain my ranking for the keywords and within how many days I would regain my previous ranking?

Mobile site is not ranking in the mobile search results
I posted last month about problems with a mobile site, which is served from a separate URL (m.mydomain.com) as currently responsive design is not an option. The problem was that the mobile site was being returned in the desktop index along with the desktop site, and the desktop site was being returned in the mobile index instead of the mobile site. I have therefore implemented rel=canonical and rel=alternate as is advised by Google, but this has stopped the desktop site from appearing in the mobile index, but hasn't caused the mobile site to rank instead. What should I do now? One idea I have is to remove the rel=canonical and rel=alternate links so that the desktop site ranks in the mobile index again. There is a redirect in place anyway so when people click on a desktop link from a mobile search, they will still be redirected to the mobile equivalent. I could then set the m.mydomain.com to noindex to stop it from being returned in the desktop results and potentially causing duplicate content issues? What do you think about this as a work around?

Rankings have fallen suddenly - I need a plan of attack.
I started my business a few years ago. Only recently (6 month) I started to get some good traffic and sales. At first I was ranking pretty well 3-5 for my main keywords and business began to pick up. After Penguin I was hit hard and I'm placing 10-17'ish. My Google local/places has disappeared too. I haven't received any contact from Google about unnatural links (but I'm not sure where that would appear? Email? Web Master Tools? Horses head on my pillow?). I've read so many different things online about what I 'could' do. I'm not sure where to start. I've checked and I know we've created lots of questionable back links. Using the Open Site Explorer lots of the backlinks don't have terrible DA but some do. I guess I was hoping someone would give me a checklist or priority list of things to do. It's just me so I need to use my time as best I can. What should I be doing first? Should I be trying to: Remove my bad backlinks? Spend my time making quality backlinks. On-page issues that I can't see? Telling google i'm sorry via web master tools. Changing to new domain (eek) I'm very time poor and hoped the seoMoz community might save me from wasting my time. www.bringyourownlaptop.com.au Keywords: indesign training, web design courses & photoshop courses Thank you in advance. Does Google News Inclusion Affect Organic Rankings?
Hello SEO Gurus, Here's a question I've been unable to find an answer for: if you manage to get a publishing website or blog included in the Google News aggregate, can it negatively affect organic search visibility? I've never read anything that explicitly says so, but I have both read and experienced how e-commerce sites often have difficulty in ranking high for both organic and shopping searches. It seems that Google balances out visibility between the two. Has anyone had any experience with a website or blog that managed to rank high for the same high-value keyword on both organic search and news search? Thanks in advance! Mike
