Blog Commenting Question Off Page
-
While blog commenting, many people tend to use their 'anchor text' when asked to provide with their name. Hyperlinking anchor text inside the blog comment is perfectly understandable for me but using anchor text when asked to provide your name is something that I see as spam and something that totally confuses a normal user who reads the blog comment and sees a weird name in the name section. Search engines too must be perfectly aware of this and thus I am of the opinion that such anchor texts don't care much weightage in the eyes of search engine.
However many of my fellow SEO colleagues tend to differ. They say you should use anchor text when asked to provide with a name. And I am totally against this form of promotion That's why I wish to ask the opinion of experts in SEO MOZ on this topic.

When I comment on blogs I try to contribute to the conversation and look at it as an opportunity to make contact with potential customers as well as expanding our link profile. I would feel really uncomfortable entering anything other than a name - depending on circumstances either the brand name or a personal id - in the name field as I think this would be repellent to the people I want to connect with.
In terms of link acquisition, blog comments are a low effort, low value option. I don't see why people would expect using exact match anchor text to give a huge boost to the value of the link - of course the search engines are aware that user generated content is a magnet for spammers and I'm sure they have ways of discounting those links.
I think the best approach to blog commenting is contribute to a community and form real relationships. That way you have the immediate benefits of engaging with your market, with the added bonus that people who trust you and value your contribution are more likely to link to you. I've spent too much time deleting comment spam on our blogs to think much of anyone using that tactic - it's a good way to guarantee I won't check your site out!

Blog post outreach for backlinks
Hi all, My understanding of obtaining backlinks by way of blogpost outreach is that it's best to include several outbound links to related high domain websites within blog post copy (as well as a link to the website you're marketing, obviously) such as this post https://www.scoopearth.com/why-should-you-use-royalty-free-music-for-youtube-videos/ or this one https://small-bizsense.com/how-to-create-quality-content-for-your-business/. However, I've recently read a few articles that suggest that from a human perspective only having one clear link in the copy, such as this post https://www.clichemag.com/entertainment/movies/the-benefits-of-royalty-free-cinematic-music-for-your-videos/, increases the chance of the reader visiting the site in question. I guess the thinking is that if there's only one link to be clicked on it increases the chances of click-thru, as opposed to the reader possibly clicking on another external link that's only there because of current SEO advice. So is it best to follow SEO guidelines and include several outbound links within guest blog posts, or is it better to only have the one link to your client's site (to focus the readers attention on it)?

Houzz Comment Links
A company I am working with has been posting pictures and links to their website in the comments section of Houzz articles. I notice many companies have been doing this in general. While it generates decent amounts of traffic, I am wondering if google sees 30 links coming from article comments that it will deem that as spam? My gut tells me to send these comment links to the Houzz member profile, then direct them to your own website. Thoughts? ***Anyone in home design, decor, etc. should really get involved there. Fantastic source of business for professional in that field.

Blog snippets on home page
Mozzes, We're running a real estate portal in which we have a pretty good news/blog section running on wordpress. It's placed into our LAMP site on a dash from our root URL: www.ourportal.com/news/ To attract traffic via our landing pages we publish article snippets from the blog, linked to the complete articles. What would be the optimal SEO here to lead the spiders to the orignal content? Follow, Noindex? Best Johan

Link Building for a New Blog
We are setting up a new blog and I was wondering what is the best way to build good quality links for a new website? I have been researching this quite a bit on the forums and a lot of people talk about writing good content which I agree with however no one will find that content if we are not ranking in Google for our keywords. From what I have read the following is what I should be doing Directory's Creating Link-bait (Info-graphics) PR Releases or Getting News Sites to link to us I have heard a lot of mention of using Articles sites like ezinearticles but I have also read that Post Panda that they dont have as much link juice as they once had and also I don't think that for a Blog that we should be using it as well but maybe I am wrong? Would appreciate some peoples suggestions

Too many internal links to a particular page?
I have read all the data regarding the number of links per page, but my question has to do with the number of internal links to a particular page. After looking at some of the competition inside Open Site Explorer I can see that the competitor in question has a much smaller number of links going to the desired page then the site I am comparing. The competitor is outranking a page that should be ranking higher due to higher page authority and external root domain links. Internal Links to Page: 9,950 Competitor Page Internal LInks: 208 Is this a situation where the sheer number of internal links is discounted because of page rank distribution throughout the site? Just want to get some clarity here. Thank you for your responses.
