Hello
In Google analytics you can obtain the number of visits as a result of non-paid search. You can also set up custom reports to find the number of organic searches. The numbers are different, so what is the obvious difference between these two metrics that I'm missing.

When you say "Organic campaigns can come from an unpaid search engine results link, a referral from another website (such as a blog) and direct traffic."
I don't get it how a referral or direct can be considered an organic visit. I recreated the report Tim has mentioned and then changed the advanced segments to Referral and Direct to see if I see any figures. If what you say is correct, when I select organic searches as my metric and then select direct traffic in advanced segments - shouldn't I see the organic traffic from direct traffic.
Please let me know

Wow, this was a pretty hard question. But I've got (hopefully) a useful answer for you:
The metric: Organic Searches you found within building a custom report in Google Analytics is defined as: "The number of organic searches that happened within a session. This metric is search engine agnostic.".
This differs a bit from the way Non Paid Search traffic is measured: "Organic campaigns can come from an unpaid search engine results link, a referral from another website (such as a blog) and direct traffic.".
I'm not quite sure but the difference in my opinion is within the way sessions are defined for both types and possibly also the way unpaid is defined for both metrics.

a) Within the standard reporting part of Google Analytics I have selected Organic Search from the Traffic Sources section. This provides me with the number of non-paid search visits for the period in question.
b) In the custom reporting section I have selected Organic Searches in the metrics tab, and then Sources (for example) in the dimensions tab. This (I believe) should give me tha same data as in a), but it is lower in volume. The difference is only 3%, but it makes me think I have done something wrong which I obviously want to correct.
Again, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have just checked this and am getting matching figures
What metric and dimension have you set up your custom report on?
I used the metric as visits and dimension as source/medium - and then filtered on organic and the figures matched.

Has Google Analytics Funnel Visualisation changed / stopped working?
Yesterday my funnel visualisation tab in the updated GA interface was showing data flow. However today there is nothing showing in the graphical element despite showing some goal completion figures as a headline. Google Analytics goals only show unique event triggers
I have some goals in GA which is linked to different event triggers. However I've found out that the goal is only showing the unique event triggers and not the total. I need it to show the total in order to be accurate. Is there any way to switch that option? I can't find any options like that in GA or guides to do so.

Google Analytics unexplainable traffic spike
Viewing this report **Behaviour > Site content > All pages **with primary dimensions of **Page ** and **Page title **are showing different results for one specific page on our site. We noticed a huge spike in pageviews and entrances to that specific page on our site. The user flow report shows traffic going through and from the page (in high volume) from other pages on the site which suggests that it's not the usual case of spam referrals. When I view the report above by page, I get unrealistic data. Over 600% increase in pageviews and over 900% increase in entrances. When I view by page title however, I get realistic results. Can anyone help shed some light on why these two reports will be different? Anyone else seeing similar issues?

Stop getting info from Google analytics on purchases in our site
Hi guys, We have eCommerce.

We connected the site to the Google analytic eCommerce.
Everything was work fine until 3 weeks ago. Suddenly we stooped getting purchases information in the analytic although i see purchases in the website. We didn't change anything in the website and i really don't know how to solve this problem.

Google Analytics Custom Alert For Goal Completions?
Hi currently setting up custom alerts for a website. I want to do a custom alerts for when goal completions decrease or increase by a certain % e.g. 20% as shown in the third example from this Moz Article back in 2012 - http://moz.com/blog/7-essential-google-intelligence-custom-alerts-that-keep-me-sane However when i go into my GA account the only options seem to be for when the goal completion conversion rate % drops. I could use this, but i rather do just based on completions rather than %. Any ideas on how i can do this? Thanks.

Google analytics Goals and Funnels??
Hey - how's things? I've got 2 goals setup, each of which use the same thank you page but with different required funnels. The results have been identical for the last few weeks - which tells me I've got something wrong!! The first goal has a contact form on every page in the /products/ directory set up like this:
