SEO Landing Page Fail
-
We have a PPC landing page template that I've used to aggregate blog post collections thematically.
http://www.ietravel.com/machu-picchu-travel
http://www.ietravel.com/kenya-and-tanzania-safari
The hope was that they would start ranking. After 5 months, it has yet to happen.Thought it was a good idea at the time because these pages have a nice prominent call-to-action area.
It now occurs to me that the pages are probably under-performing because they are not incorporated into the main site navigation.
Do you think that if I move these under their appropriate categories in the main site I'll see some lift? (Of course, I will add 301 redirects as well.)
Thanks

That would be a great start. There was a recent WBF that gave some great ideas to build links with email marketing campaigns that is definitely worth a read:

Also, try and get some links from your high authority pages across your domain pointing to these. That will definitely help pass some link juice along.
Good luck - Kyle

Sorry for the lapse in my reply - Tgiving intervened.
Yes, a few of my blog-post pages are ranking (for long-tail terms).
Good advice on trying to build external links to these pages. Realistically, it's unlikely that I'm going to be able to get anything other than directory or social bookmarking links (in the short tun), so would you recommend going that route?
-
It took a look at the page (machu picchu travel), agreed that your on-page is looking good and your domain authority is pretty solid as well to rank at that difficulty. However you only seem to have a total of 6 links going to this page, all internal links.
Continue working on building those internal links with the descriptive anchor text but more importantly try and get some external links to these pages. As you begin to get more external links you will build up your page's authority and in turn a higher rank.
I noticed that you had a few links form your blog, are those pages ranking at all?

Hi Kyle,
Yes, these pages are indexed - I submitted them manually through Webmaster Tools. I am trying to rank for the words in the url's:
kenya and tanzania safari (49% difficulty; 1,000 local; 5,400 global)
machu picchu travel (50% difficulty; 8,100 local sv; 135K global, wtf?)
Both pages have an A grade in the Term Grader.
Thanks!

Are these pages currently indexed in Google yet? Try doing a site search on the specific URL (site:www.domain.com/page). If the URL shows up, then you don't have an indexation issue.
The next step is checking your keyword targeting. So a few questions:
- What keywords where you hoping to rank for?
- What is the average traffic for these, and the difficulty?
- How often and where do these keywords show up on your page?
Let me know the outcome of the site search and the answers to the questions above and then we can go from there!

Page Authority
Hi We have a large number of pages, all sitting within various categories. I am struggling to rank a level 3 for example, or increase authority of this page. Apart from putting it in the main menu or trying to build quality links to it, are there any other methods I can try? We have so many pages I find it hard to workout what the best way to internal link these pages for authority. At the moment they're classified in their relevant categories, but these go from level 1 down to 4 - is this too many classification levels?

CDN for SEO (or not)?
Does CDN impact on SEO or not? There seems conflicting ideas as to whether they impact positively or negatively, I realise that if the page loads quicker this is a good thing for SEO and usability of course. Does Google see CDN as just cheating and a get-around for not doing the work from the ground up and using good hosting etc? Do you have any direct experience? All constructive input much appreciated!

Should we show(to google) different city pages on our website which look like home page as one page or different? If yes then how?
On our website, we show events from different cities. We have made different URL's for each city like www.townscript.com/mumbai, www.townscript.com/delhi. But the page of all the cities looks similar, only the events change on those different city pages. Even our home URL www.townscript.com, shows the visitor the city which he visited last time on our website(initially we show everyone Mumbai, visitor needs to choose his city then) For every page visit, we save the last visited page of a particular IP address and next time when he visits our website www.townscript.com, we show him that city only which he visited last time. Now, we feel as the content of home page, and city pages is similar. Should we show these pages as one page i.e. Townscript.com to Google? Can we do that by rel="canonical" ? Please help me! As I think all of these pages are competing with each other.

Create different pages with keyword variations VS. Add keyword variations in 1 page
For searches involving keywords like "lessons", "courses", "classes" I see frequently pages in the top rankings which do not contain the search term in the title tag, despite these terms being quite competitive. It seems that when searching for "classes", google detects that pages about "courses" may be just as relevant. What do you recommend? option 1: creating 10 pages optimized on 10 different keyword variations, each with a significant part of unique content or option 2: one page and dropping throughout the page 10 keyword variations in body and headlines Given that keywords are all synonyms and website has already high domain authority in the niche. thanks

Where is the best place for Landing Pages to reside on the Home Page?
On this site http://www.austintenantadvisors.com/ I have my main landing pages listed in the navigation under "Types". The reason why I did this is because I am not sure where to insert those on the home page where it does not look spammy to Google and looks natural for users. Obviously they need to appear somewhere on the home page for Google to be able to continue crawling and indexing them. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Review of on page SEO - Please help
Hi I am new to SEOmoz but can see a lot of great information going back and forth. I am looking for a little help with the SEO on our site and looking for suggestions on what to do to improve it. We have some pages where we aggregate content from our database such as this: http://www.touristlink.com/india/nagpur/cat/temples.html It would seem that "Temples in Nagpur" is not that competitive of a term but we dont show up until page 4. Any on page suggestions on what we could do to improve? Or any mistakes we are making. All the content on the site is fairly new as in 6 months even though the site has been established and online for a number of years. We have not done any specific linking building for the term "Temples in Nagpur" Any suggestions on the overall structure of the site would also be great. Thanks in advance.

Landing page indexed and ranking in less then 24 hours
Hi, I got a landing page which went up last night about 11pm. Its been indexed and ranked since then. Its a EMD and has about 600 words of unqiue content. It currently sits on page 9 for what I would say is a non competitive term (the top result is not an EMD and has 10 backlinks from the same site, which has no PR). Now my question is this: Would you say that page 9 is the given position Google thinks this website should sit at? Or because its so new could I very much expect some more movement? Basically up the rankings? Cheers
