RSS Hacking Issue
-
Hi
Checked our original rss feed - added it to Google reader and all the links go to the correct pages, but I have also set up the RSS feed in Feedburner. However, when I click on the links in Feedburner (which should go to my own website's pages) , they are all going to spam sites, even though the title of the link and excerpt are correct.
This isn't a Wordpress blog rss feed either, and we are on a very secure server.
Any ideas whatsoever? There is no info online anywhere and our developers haven't seen this before.
Thanks

Thanks so much for your help - I think this should fix it. You've saved me hours of time. It's our own cms so I should be able to fix it today.
-
I don't think you're being linked to spam, specifically. What you're seeing is the Feedburner page linking your post titles to feeds.feedburner.com/[whatever the guid of the post is] -- URLs of different feeds from different sites entirely.
I believe this is the problem referenced in the FeedBurner FAQ - http://www.google.com/support/feedburner/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=79014&topic=13190 - "Why don't my feed content item links work?"
In which case, the isPermalink attribute on the feed guids should be false. I'd post about this on the support forum for your CMS.
-
Mmm, actually maybe if I change that guid entry that came up in the validator to false that will fix it?
-
Some answers to your checks:
- Feed is correct - still my feed
- No FeedMedic reports -says everything is fine
- Feedburner url and url people are directed to from the blog are the same
- No malware reports
- Ran tool on blog article page, rss, feedburner page, and feedburner article link page - doesn't pick up any malware
- Validity check brings up one issue: guid must be a full URL, unless isPermaLink attribute is false:
129
- Current entry for guid for one article is <a id="l16" name="l16">
<guid ispermalink="true">129</guid>
</a>
Sure, here's the feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/EnjoyTravelBlog (check in Chrome or IE as for some reason someone looking in Firefox didn't see them)
Here are screencasts of what I see if I click on any of the article titles:
- http://screencast.com/t/PNvrItea3ky - see articles 1 & 2
- http://screencast.com/t/bZI8qlg74 - what I see if I click on article 1 - clicking on link goes to spam site
- http://screencast.com/t/cER9Fm9RTunm - what I see if I click on article 2
Like this for every single article - even got some links to Baidu, Ebay and all sorts in there.
Would welcome suggestions on other forums to post on if this goes beyond technical seo!

A few avenues to check out:
- Log into your feedburner account and make sure the feed it's processing is still your blog's actual feed.
- Under feedburner's "Troubleshootize" tab, check if there are any FeedMedic reports, and under Tips and Tools run the feed validity checks.
- Check and make sure the Feedburner URL shown in your account is the same one people are being directed to on the blog.
- Go to Google Webmaster Tools. Under Diagnostics, check and see if there are any malware reports.
- Run a malware scan on the site URL and the Feedburner URL through a tool like http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/
Can you provide us more information? Screenshots showing links and the URLs they direct you to?

Spammers created bad links to old hacked domain, now redirected to our new domain. Advice?
My client had an old site hacked (let's call it "myolddomain.com") and the hackers created many links in other hacked sites with links such as http://myolddomain.com/styless.asp?jordan-12-taxi-kids-cheap-T8927.html The old myolddomain.com site was redirected to a different new site since then, but we still see over a thousand spam links showing up in the new site's Search Console 404 crawl errors report. Also, using the links: operator in google search, we see many results of spam links. Should we be worried about these bad links pointing to our old site and redirecting to 404s on the new site? What is the best recommendation to clean them up? Ignore? 410s? Other? I'm seeing conflicting advice out there. The old site is hosted by the client's previous web developer who doesn't want to clean anything up on their end without an ongoing hosting contract. So beyond turning redirects on or off, the client doesn't want to pay for any additional hosting. So we don't have much control over anything related to "myolddomain.com". 😞 Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Car Dealership website - Duplicate Page Content Issues
Hi, I am currently working on a large car dealership website. I have just had a Moz crawl through and its flagging a lot of duplicate page content issues, these are mostly for used car pages. How can I get round this as the site stocks many of the same car, model, colour, age, millage etc. Only unique thing about them is the reg plate. How do I get past this duplicate issue if all the info is relatively the same? Anyone experienced this issue when working on a car dealership website? Thank you.

Canonicalization Issue | E-commerce
Hey everyone! How are you doing? I spent this week trying to solve some technical issues on my website. However i am having trouble with Duplicate Content. I came to the conclusion that canonicalization is a great solution to this problem, however, i am having trouble implementing it. The duplicate problem arises from the fact that for each product i have several colors or different attributes. For example. I have the category "Construction Clips" and then links to "Color" in which the user can choose White or Sandstone. The content is almost identical for both of them, the only thing that changes is the color. This scenarios repeats many times throughout my webcommerce site. And is throwing me off many Duplicate Content errors. I cannot use the canonicalization in the White or Sandstone page, because is a product page, it doesnt let me add or change anything on the header. http://aceromart.com/Clip-Glamet-Blanco.aspx I dont intend to rank well on most product pages, my priority is that i dont want duplicate errors on my website. What is the best solution for this conundrum? Regards!!! In advance, i thank you for your opinions!

E-commerce solution and subdomain issues
Hello All,
Technical SEO | | CherieP
In light of Wil Reynold's closing keynote at Portland's Searchfest, I thought I might try posting here to get some advice. We run a family business on the side and we're looking at starting to use volusion.com for our e-commerce solution. The catch is we currently have a wordpress site summitmining.com running on thesis with great SEO. Ranking #1 & #2 for our highest trafficked terms. Ideally, I'd like Summitmining.com to direct to the Volusion store and then summitmining.com/blog to go to our wordpress installation BUT since the volusion site will be hosted with the company and they will not host our wordpress installation we'd have to use a subdomain instead of a subdirectory which I understand will be bad for SEO. Does anyone have any recommendation on how to set this up without totally screwing up our ranking OR any recommendations of an easy to use shopping cart (I've worked on a magento site before and it's too complex for us) that wouldn't require a separate or subdomain? Thank you so much!

Duplicate content issue
Hi everyone, I have an issue determining what type of duplicate content I have. www.example.com/index.php?mact=Calendar,m57663,default,1&m57663return_id=116&m57663detailpage=&m57663year=2011&m57663month=6&m57663day=19&m57663display=list&m57663return_link=1&m57663detail=1&m57663lang=en_GB&m57663returnid=116&page=116 Since I am not an coding expert, to me it looks like it is a URL parameter duplicate content. Is it? At the same time "return_id" would makes me think it is a session id duplicate content. I am confused about how to determine different types of duplicate content, even by reading articles on Seomoz about it: http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/duplicate-content. Could someone help me on how to recognize different types of duplicate content? Thank you!

How do I eliminate duplicate url, duplicate title issues using Joomla CMS?
We have a site using Joomla CMS, integrated with Jreviews and Jomsocial. Utilizing ACE SEF to generate Dynamic URL structure. Our issue is that we are recieving multiple instances of duplicate url's and duplicate titles due to the way joomla is working with jreviews for all our 7,000+ business listings. Site is already ranked for many broad/national keywords, concerned that our state and local rankings are limited by these errors. How can we prevent this from happening without re-writing the entire website?
