Keeping web site fresh re content
-
We currently use a wp blog but we don not host on the web domain.
What are the advanatges to moving the blog to the domain
The only 1 I can think of is every time we update the blog this should help keep the web site fresh with new content .

There are many reasons to host your own WordPress blog versus using WordPress.com, including:
- You control and own the content
- You have complete design and layout control
- You are creating content for your site versus the WordPress.com site
This is a helpful article with good reasons for hosting your own blog: 6 Reasons To Host Your Own Blog.
But you're on an SEO site, so I'll address the most important reason to host your own blog: SEO.
Blogs, as you know, are powerful SEO tools, especially self-hosted WordPress blogs with SEO-friendly skins such as Thesis. I've helped many clients achieve top 10 and even #1 rankings for targeted keyword phrases simply through their keyword-optimized blog posts.
This is why it's important to have the blog on your domain: that way you're driving traffic to YOUR site (where it can be converted to leads or customers) versus the WordPress.com site where you'd be driving traffic to Wordpress.com and people would have to make an extra click just to get to your domain.
That is why I advise all my clients to use self-hosted blogs for best SEO lead generation results and encourage you to strongly consider doing so as well.
I hope that helps!

@NotThatFast - You are correct there and with the Google freshness update, having the blog on your site would be a good thing.
@Dharam Kalra - I don't know what you are on about.

How to rank highly without much content?
Many pages on the web rank highly - even though they have no keyworded text. They might have listings, or just images. How do they achieve such high rankings? Is it just by getting lots of inbound links?

Will having duplicate content on four websites cause a problem?
A client of ours has four websites for different shops they run in the surrounding area. Each website has original content as well as duplicate content. This is for things like product advice which needs to be the same Will having duplicate content on these four websites cause a problem? How can it be mitigated? We can't refer the visitor to another website to get the product information as this will break the user experience, and of course shopping cart sessions will not pass on.

Thoughts on Evan Carmichael for Content Marketing & SEO?
We used to have a lot of success repurposing content through EvanCarmichael.com, but it seems like our articles are being de-indexed there very frequently now. I'd love to hear some others' opinions on Evan Carmichael and how worthwhile it is to keep publishing there. Thanks!

How to optimize content pages with ecommerce?
Some content pages act as buyers guides for certain products for example Used Paddle Boards for Sale - http://www.islesurfboards.com/used-paddle-boards-for-sale.aspx this is a content page that gets huge amount of traffic and is pure content with no products on the page, but we also have a ecommerce section of the site that is Used Paddle Boards for Sale -http://www.islesurfboards.com/buy-used-paddle-boards-for-sale.aspx however this page just has a small paragraph and all the ecommerce product related to this section on the page. The content only page above gets all the traffic and rank and then they click over to the actual ecomm section wiht the products from a link on that page. Should i merge these two together so its just one page and put the content on the ecom page? If i do all the content with push the ecommerce products down which is not good so what does anyone recommend as a best practice? Also will this mess up the content pages rank is i merge them assuming i redirect? or Keep them seperate like i have with a content page regarding "used paddle boards for sale" and an ecommerce page that sells acutal "used paddle boards for sale"

How does one write different pages of their website that are very similar in nature with using too much duplicate content?
We are a service provider and we have different links on our website to each of our services. The problem is the content that we would have for each is very similar. How can I ensure that it is not deemed duplicate content and ranked poorly because of it. Thanks

Syndicating content with rel=author tag in it
If I have an article with my rel=author tag attached to it, and then I syndicate that article to another web site, should I keep the rel=author tag in that synbdicated article? Basically, what I'm worried about is that there will be 2 duplicate articles with my author tag on 2 different web sites. (I intend to put a canonical tag in the syndicated article so there is no duplicate content penalty) What is the best practice for this?
