Wordpress Duplicate Pages/ URL's - Help !
-
Hi guys,
I have been running SEOMoz for just over a month and slowly cleaning up one of my Wordpress Blogs. While going through the crawl reports I have noticed that I have duplicate pages showing on the crawl.
For example, the main post would be; www.xxxxx.com/blog/post-title
Then I see another URL which would be; **www.xxxx.com/blog/page/59 **
When I click on either URL it goes back to the actual post title URL.
What's with these page URL's ? Isn't these two URL's showing duplicate content to the search engines ?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

HI Again
You are welcome -
Ok - they are two separate pages that have basically the same content (all be a couple of minor differences)
So - you have two options.
If http://www.datacenterscanada.com/blog/page/101/ doesn't have any links to it, nor is it getting much traffic, then you may as well delete it.
Otherwise do a 301 to http://www.datacenterscanada.com/blog/torix-peer-saskatchewan-telecommunications/
All the best

Thanks for the note.
Here is a simple example of a page that pulls up two different URLS.
http://www.datacenterscanada.com/blog/page/101/
http://www.datacenterscanada.com/blog/torix-peer-saskatchewan-telecommunications/

Hya
Assuming it is as you say, that these two URLs in their own right (with no redirects in place) display exactly the same content - then yes, it is duplicate content.
If Google has cached one of these then do a 301 redirect from the non-cached URL to the cached one.
If neither have been cached (or you just don't know) then redirect the one that has the least optimised URL to the one with the optimised URL - I would guess the /blog/page/59 is the least optimised.
You can find out in Google itself (or YouTube) how to do a 301 if you don't know - or look is SEOmoz
Hope this helps, and all the best with it

Different WP Taxonomies seen as duplicate content
Hey guys, We're seeing Moz report "duplicate" content on pages like: mysite.com/interesting-category/ and mysite.com/interesting-tag. Why exactly is this, and is there something that we should do about this? Obviously some of the same posts will intersect on pages like category, tag, author pages. Thanks

How much duplicate content counts as duplicate content to Google?
Hi everyone! I've had a look through some duplicate content posts and I can't see the answer to this query, so I thought I'd ask in case someone could help. I've been looking at a website that competes with the site that I work on. They have profile pages containing content that has been copied and pasted straight from the suppliers' websites. Their pages have all their own code framing the content, which is diluting the concentration of duplicate copy. How much duplicate content can a page have before it gets penalised or ignored by Google? Any suggestions very gratefully received 🐵

How to Get Rid of Duplicate Content Captured on Article Lists
We have a ton of articles and blog posts on our site. Currently, we display summary lists of articles that contain the first paragraph of the article in the summary list. However, in my reports, this is coming back as duplicate content with the full article itself. How do I fix this? Ex: article main page- http://www.robots.com/articles/10 First article on that page- http://www.robots.com/articles/viewing/grippers-for-robots (which shows up as duplicate content with the main artilce page). With our blogs, we have the most recent 5 blogs (in the same summary format) listed on our main blog page. We then have categories that people can sort by. But again, this is causing us duplicate content because those pages show the first paragraph of the blogs related to that category. Ex: blog main page- http://www.robots.com/blog. First blog listed on that page- http://www.robots.com/blog/viewing/robots-and-automation-bringing-jobs-back-to-the-united-states (which then shows as duplicate content with the main blog page). And then you can also select categories to see related topics: http://www.robots.com/blog/category/buying-a-robot which is showing as duplicate content also. Help! How can I prevent this? Thanks! Guest Blogging - Home Page PR0
I have found a blog in my niche that accepts guest posts. However, the site is quite odd in that the homepage has a PR of 0 and all the other pages have a 2. I just wanted to check if it is still worth posting on this site as it looks suspicious to me. Thanks.

Questions about reorganizing a website's content structure
I'm working with a publisher who is considering reorganizing the content on their site, which up to now has been presented more or less as a portal site for a variety of segments in a particular business industry. One scenario that is on the table is to remove some content sections altogether and republish them under their own unique domains. It's important to note that this reorganization would be part of a new brand strategy. So my first question is whether this is one of those avoid-at-all-costs scenarios? My second question is if we decide to procede, what kind of time could it take for these new domains to generate the same level of search traffic they are currently pulling in on the portal site? Thanks!

2,500 Word blog post? What's your advice?
Most of my blog posts end up being 400-600 words, sometimes more, sometimes less. I have written one that is 2,500 words this time. If it were you, would you make one huge post, or split it into two or three? Or would you say it wholly depends on my site and the type of content? As far as link bait goes, one page is better . . . I guess. But would anyone ever read a 2,500 word blog post, even it it's about a subject he/she is interested in? Additionally, what's better for SEO? Just wants some second opinions. Thanks!
