URL question

Hi guys, the pro campaign thing you got going is wicked, love it.
I'm recieving good results with my keywords and have noticed that categories that go beyond sub/sub/sub don't do to well.
So I wanna move those that do one step up which makes it go from:
http://spytunes.com/practice-guitar/advanced-routine/scales/aeolian
to here
http://spytunes.com/practice-guitar/advanced-routine/aeolian
The existing menu system that follow all these categories across the site will soon go so it won't be a user friendly problem, I will have other type of menus.
But, and here is the question:
Would I greatly benefit from taking the non existent menu away and just go for:
http://spytunes.com/practice-guitar/aeolian while i'm at it?
Or do I stick with my current structure?
I guess my real question is; how much is there to flat URLs?
Cheers

That makes sense, it is important, but scales isn't so i'll just go for the one move up then.
Thanks for this.

Hi Dan,
If advance routine is not either a) a viable keyword structure, or b) a logical hierarchy structure, then I see no reason on having it. If however, it is a keyword used for a logical category structure then you should.
Now looking at your site, I see little reason to change the structure.

This URL string makes sense and is only three deep. Which pages are not doing well for you?
As far as indexing, your most important pages should be two clicks from the home page (recently discussed in the WBF).
Although moving them one step up will not hurt as long as you remember to 301 the pages as to not spill the link juice.
If a particular page is weak, then start building links to that page. Such as linking to those pages from blog post, tweets, facebook post, and other external link building.
I hope that helps

Making Shopify URL's Simpler - Losing the words 'collection', 'product' and 'page' in a Shopify store URL. Any advice?
Hi Mozers! I have a Shopify store (of which there are many advantages) however one big SEO disadvantage, is that my URL structures contravene all Moz advice on dynamic URL structure and whats more I am reminded about this every week when I have a Moz site crawl and I have a batch of URL's that are longe than the 75 characters. A Shopify URL will run www.domain name.com/collections/collection-name/product/product-name. According to advice a it should be www.domain name.com/collection-name/product-name - Don't even get started on sub-collections! I sell portfolio books, album etc and keepsake memory boxes (so long keywords) AND, I have a long(ish) business name. So, For user experience and keyword length, do I just ignore trying to achieve a dynamic URL under 75 characters? When I have asked Shopify, the say their URL's are an integral part of the "Ruby on Rails" system, so nothing can be done Or can it ??? I can't be the only Moz member with this issue can I ??

A Hummingbird Question
So with Google SERPs looking for more customer intent and especially to direct questions eg, How much does a x cost? Where can I find x etc - is it good practice to create a bank of Q&A's on site or is it sufficient to have good quality content on the subject matter stating the costs of x and where you can find it written in a customer friendly manner? Will a bank of Q&As add any value if they directly answer the most likely search questions? Thanks Ash

SEOMOZ tool - on page optmization question
Ok, I had the tool examine a page and while I got an A, it did say this..... Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization Easy fix <dl> <dt>Cannibalizing link</dt> <dd>"Kitchen Storage Racks", "Home Storage Racks", "Garage Storage Racks", "Wine Storage Racks", "Bicycle Storage Racks", and "wine storage racks"Explanation</dd> <dd>It's a best practice in SEO to target each keyword with a single page on your site (sometimes two if you've already achieved high rankings and are seeking a second, indented listing). To prevent engines from potentially seeing a signal that this page is not the intended ranking target and creating additional competition for your page, we suggest staying away from linking internally to another page with the target keyword(s) as the exact anchor text. Note that using modified versions is sometimes fine (for example, if this page targeted the word 'elephants', using 'baby elephants' in anchor text would be just fine).</dd> <dt>Recommendation</dt> <dd>Unless there is intent to rank multiple pages for the target keyword, it may be wise to modify the anchor text of this link so it is not an exact match.</dd> </dl> The keyword that was optimized was "storage racks". In the explanation it says that baby elephants is fine if elephants is your keyword so why isn't wine storage racks or kitchen storage racks ok what is the difference? why is mine cannibalizing but baby elephants is not? This may be very simplistic to you all but I'm learning as i go, thank you in advance

URL Rewrite
(By Google Traductor) Hello, I wanted to ask about some changes that we are evaluating for the issue of passing the url with variables to be more descriptive, for example: http://www.agroads.com.ar/detalle.asp?clasi=139592 tohttp://www.agroads.com.ar/humedimetro-para-cereales-draminski-gmm-139592.html In this case corresponds to the breakdown of a product if you have long published andcan be well positioned to change the title of this position would be lost unless youmanage it with a 301, as one would manage when you have more than 30000 products and title may change several times? There are tools to manage this? Finally, we must apply this to all listed with their respective filters, recommends doingtheir part with 301 redirects and analyze what funciene well to continue with the rest or implement a complete change? I hope I can bring a little light to implement this. Greetings and thanks! Roberto

Did you delete my first question? where is it? I cant find it on My Questions.... And if it is deleted i NEED to know why, i am currently on trial for PRO MEMBERSHIP, and getting my question deleted without any news is definitely not a good idea.... If i did something wrong, i need to know what is it.... (i dont understand , how on this green earth asking a question would be wrong though) Please responds, PS : My Last question was posted on "On-Page / Site Optimization" It asked 3 questions, all related to Search Engine Visibility, and the primary question is about "If i used php script to detect google bot / yahoo bot / bing bot, and then redirect them to page that have EXACTLY same content, but a much more SEO Friendly one, will this effect my seo standing" The website in question is http://atlantagenset.com In which case that website is full flash BUT it can be opened through any phone (I have built a php that detected IF you are coming from any mobile devices, it will redirect you to the right HTML version of that page) arghhhh i have asked the question, and have not got any responds for 6~7 days, and it got deleted??!
