Will using display:none; to hide images hurt SEO?

A popular trend among bloggers right now is to hide their long images for social media (Pinterest) using the code. This makes it so that when a reader clicks the Pin it browser button, the long image still shows up but is not displayed inside their post. Also note that the alt description for Pinterest marketers are always keyword rich, board line keyword stuffed. I've read this article from Google on hiding text and images https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66353?hl=en but not sure if this practice fits inside that scope. What are your thoughts? Will this hurt SEO?

Will Huge bounce rate from social media visits affect SEO or website Ranking according to Google algorithm factors?

We have one website and have posted our blog post url in the social media sites and got almost 5k visits in 3 days’ time, with 11sec avg time on site, zero conversions and with 97% bounce rate. This in turn reduced the total conversion rate for the same month to less than 0.5%. According to google algorithm, these are factors affecting website ranking. Can anyone guide me whether which visits from social media affect our website in any case based on these Analytics factors? Please help me out on the same! Note: Blog post topic was related to latest technology update and the landing page also based in the respective topic as well.

How does knowing SEO benefit a consultant in social media

Hi Mozers I'm in the process of trying to secure a client that requires social media expertise. I want to be able to use my SEO knowledge as a benefit. I am struggling to explain in simple terms how a knowledge of SEO underpins a good Social Media campaign. Does anyone know of any good resources I can work through to communicate this issue effectively?

Like .vs Share Button - for SEO which is better?

I personally from what I have read believe the share button to be more powerful when it comes to SEO but I don't know for a fact so anyone have any input on this subject? One thing I do know, is it's a lot harder to gain a 'Share' then a 'Like' and im talking about these buttons being onsite maybe in a blog post. If you gained 100 shares and 100 likes which one would generate the best signals? Thanks

Various question re SEO and social media

Hi all: It is time for my semi-annual “I don’t have a clue” question. Actually it’s questions since there are three although they may overlap. I am confused about the intersection of social media and SEO. A couple of years ago it seemed like one of the better procedures for link building was writing articles and having them published on Isnare, Goarticles Ezine and the like. Now I am not sure if this is effective anymore. It seems like all of the emphasis is being put on social media sites. Not just Facebook, Twitter Pinterest, and blogs, but big ones (that I don’t have a prayer in the world of getting on) such as Mashable, Reddit etc. How are my efforts best served at this point? Should I still submit articles to article directories or should I concentrate on guest blogging (which isn’t so easy if you want a reputable blog) or try something that I can’t even think of? Second, my blog is a Wordpress Blog that is no big deal and probably isn’t read much. It can be accessed either at Wordpress or through my site. It is listed in my Google Merchant Account, but I can’t imagine anyone reads it. It’s about gifts and products that we sell and is not going to stimulate anyone’s mind. Two things here: First (and I don’t know if anyone will know the answer to this) my site is hosted by Yahoo. There is a tab at the top of my site that takes you to the blog, but Yahoo also has some way to integrate the blog with the website. Does anyone know if this will make any difference? Second, the last several times that I ran by backlinks on Open Site Explorer my Wordpress blog has not shown up. It always did previously right at the top. Any guesses as to why it no longer shows? Finally, in the last couple of months I have had a precipitous drop in orders and visitors to my site. The only thing that I have done is to lower my budget for Google Adwords, but it was never that high to begin with and shouldn’t account for the change. Given the holiday season traffic should be picking up but it is going in the other direction. Does anyone know what is happening here and what to do about it? Anyone with really good insights might get a gift certificate from us (is that permitted on SEOMOZ – if not then forget it). The website is www,uniquegiftsanddecor.com. FB og: tags - why?

Hi everyone, Can someone explain the benefits of adding OG tags to a site? As far as I can see/read doing this 'enables a site to become part of the FB social graph' (or similar..) ...and that's what exactly? (confused smiley) Cheers.

Does the open site explorer crawler crawl FB?

That is to say, where there are links on public FB pages, such as those on my own company's public profile to my company's website---can the crawler detect these, or is it simply not bothering to crawl FB because so much is private? I don't see any links from FB in the crawl results, and don't believe I ever have, even for very large brands' domains.

How much power does using keywords on Facebook and Twitter have from an SEO perspective?

Hi all, When we add a new Christmas party package onto our website I always tweet about it with a link to the party page, utilizing a tweet such as : "New Manchester Christmas parties", followed by the link. How much power (if any) does utilizing the key phrase Manchester Christmas parties have on SEO for that page? Bearing in mind the link is shortened and doesn't mention the keywords anywhere in it, they are only present in the tweet itself. Similarly, on our company Facebook page I always post a link with a title such as "check out our new Manchester Christmas parties". Does this have much SEO benefit for the page I'm directing the link to? Many thanks!!
