Best way to geo redirect
-
Hi
I have a couple of ecommerce websites which have both a UK and USA store. At the moment I have both the UK and the USA domains sending me traffic from UK and USA search engines which means that a number of users are clicking a Google page for the store not in their location, ie UK people are clicking on a .com listing and ending up on the USA website.
What is the best way to automatically redirect people to the correct store for their region? If I use an IP based auto redirect system would Google see some of the pages are doorway pages?
Thanks

You can as far as Google is concerned, but your uk site may not get crawled, as you will be redireting googlebot as well. you must not detect google bot and make a exception just for them or then you will be cloaking, google bot must go with the rest of the US ips.
A better idea my to try this

Will this 301 redirects help me?
Hello, recently, I found out about all the SEO advantages from 301 redirects. I had 3 websites that are now expired, their topic was Counter Strike 1.6 servers. All of these websites were registered 9 years ago and have few good backlinks (from website with 1%-3% spam score and DA 30+). Now I have one website that is not only about Counter Strike 1.6 but also many other Steam shooter games. If I revive these 3 old domains and 301 redirect them to my new one, will it help me with SEO and increase my ranking on Google?

Redirecting Ecommerce Site
Hi I'm working on a big site migration I'm setting up redirects for all the old categories to point to the new ones. I'm doing this based on relevancy, the categories don't match up exactly but I've tried to redirect to the most relevant alternative. Would this be the right approach?

Redirecting 404 pages
Hello,We have a wordpress site that has some "hidden" pages with weird URL's. Due to the way the site was built (not by us) if we setup our standard practice for 404 pages some site functionality will be lost.Standard Practice for 404's www.domain.com/fafsaf shows 404 error pageProposed solution:- www.domain.com/safaf >forwards to> www.domain.com/404 - shows 404 error page. Will this stop the search engines indexing the pages? - we have also amended the robots.txt to try and stop some pages being indexed but we still keep finding the odd little "hidden" page. The aim is to try and get all the search engines just to index the few simple pages on the sitemap instead of finding all these extra pages.

We are moving one website to a different domain and would like to know what is the best way to do it without hurting SEO
The website we want to move, let's say www.olddomain.com has a low quality back links profile, in fact it received a manual notification from google of unnatural links detected; but the home page has a PR 3. We want to move it to a different domain let's say www.newdomain.com. We would like to know if it's better to do a 301 redirect to the new domain, in order to transfer the link juice or if it would be better to do a 302, taking into account that this redirect won't pass any link juice, so it would be like start from scratch with this new domain. Thanks for your help.

How important is having a 301 redirect?
Is having a 301 redirect a must for rankings when it comes to the www and non-www version of a site? I am on the bottom of page 1 for my main key phrases but I can't do a 301 redirect with my web host that I've been with for over a year. I've been considering changing web host (currently with Yahoo) but I also have concerns about transferring the site and the impact it might have because of the changing ip address. So my options are Stay Put Change Web host Which would you recommend?

What is the best way to scrape serps for targeted keyword research?
Wanting to use search operators such as "KEYWORD inurl:blog" to identify potential link targets, then download target url, domain and keyword into an excel file. Then use SEOTools to evaluate the urls from the list. I see the link aquisition assistant in the Moz lab, but the listed operators are limited. Appreciate any suggestions on doing this at scale, thanks!

Wich is the best way to manage dup content in a intenational Portal?
We have a portal wich is only in spain and we started to internazionalized it to Argentina, Mexico and Colombia. Before we had a .com domain with content only for spain and now that domain is going to be global. so.. .com contains all the content and you can filter for country .es contains spanish content .com.ar contanis argenitian content Every thing is ok but the problem is that there is a content (online courses) that is in every country. What we thougt to do is: -online contect url canonical to .com domain -Geo content url canonical to .es, .com.ar domain (depending on the geo) Filters besidese .com and .es can give similar resoults we do not use canonical url or we will follow the rule above (if there is geo in .com filter then canonical to geo domain and if the filter is (online courses) then canonical to .com domain) What do you think about that? Thank you in advance.
