Open Graph Tags Being Spidered By Google?
-
Do Facebook Open Graph tags get spidered by Google? I have a site I'm looking at and they've implemented these tags on the entire site, but with the same title and description on every page. I'm assuming if you use these tags, give each page their own unique tags. But do these have an effect on rankings at all? Does googlebot see them and take them into account?

It seems like Google likes the newer Schema.org markup. But, they still crawl the Open Graph I believe. The OG tags do help Facebook categorize shared links though. Personally, I'm switching my OG tags and implementing the Schema markup. If Google likes that better for their rich snippets, I'm going to make the change. Here's a Google link about it http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1211158 Paragraph from Google "Facebook Open Graph serves its purpose well, but it doesn't provide the detailed information search engines need to improve the user experience. A single web page may have many components, and it may talk about more than one thing. Even if you mark up your content for Facebook Open Graph, schema.org provides an additional way to provide more detail about particular entities on the page." - Google

I don't believe they have any SEO value in Google (or elsewhere). Why would they? The Open Graph tags are used to control how a link appears in Facebook when a page is shared or liked there. So they have a value in FB, but none in search engines to the best of my knowledge.

Google Analytics Social Settings
Hi, I'm a bit confused about the actual purpose of the social settings in Admin > Property > Social Settings. I've read some blogs saying it just helps analyse traffic that has arrived from your social media pages. Then I've found other sources saying you should add your own domain in there so you can track likes and shares sent from your website to social media platforms. What do I actually need to put in there and how does it help my data? Thanks!

On a website, is the most effective user experience for the social media icons to open new tabs?
There is debate around what is most effective for user experience. When a user clicks on the social media icons on our site, should a new tab be opened for the social media page or should the website redirect to the social media page?

Why am I seeing so many referalls to my root domain from Facebook in Google Analytics?
When we look at referalls from Facebook in Google Analytics, more than 50% (and sometimes upwards of 80%) of the traffic we're getting is listed as landing on our root domain. The thing is, we don't have any direct links TO our root domain on our Facebook page. So is this legitimate traffic, and how are they getting to our page if we have no links to it? We do post links to stories, videos, etc, but those are to the individual pages, not to our root domain. When I look at those pages that we link to, they do have traffic numbers, but nothing compared to the root domain. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

What if an employee leaves and removes Rel=Author verification from their Google Plus profile?
What if someone leaves your company and removes your site from their Google Plus profile (under "Contributor To"). Does that kill all the rel=author on the pages written by this former employee? (Should you use the email verification with employees to avoid this scenario? Email verification is a big hassle for us.)

How can I work out who pressed my Google +1 button?
With Facebook likes it comes up on Facebook, telling you who pressed the 'like' button. You also get the number of people that like it. Is there something like this for the +1 button? I can work it out through webmaster tools, but this is delayed data, unlike the Facebook 'likes' which is instant. Is there a way of knowing who pressed your +1 button straight away, like on Facebook?
