Google has not been visiting my site
-
Hi I am working on a site at the moment http://www.cheapflightsgatwick.com and i had the site using a different template and in the search engines for the search term cheap flights gatwick we were fourth and for the term holiday magazine we were 12th in google but now we are not even in google on the first page for the search terms. But now after changing the template in joomla our rankings have gone out of the window.
It took me about a day to sort out the site with the new template so i was not expecting any problems with the search engines but for some reason there is.
If you put into the search engine www.cheapflightsgatwick.com then you will see that google has not visited the site for four days and also it is not showing the description and instead it is showing details about joomla.
Can anyone let me know if there is anything i need to do to sort this out and why google is taking so long to visit my site

Given that graph, Google is certainly visiting your site. It's just not always accurate when judging when something was published. We've published posts on SEOmoz, five minutes later I look in the SERPs, and Google says "nine hours ago".

hi just checked google webmaster and it seems ok. i am not sure what is the best setting to put the crawl rate at.
the data is as follows
Time spent downloading a page (in milliseconds) High Average Low 2,163 1,064 192 Pages crawled per day High Average Low --- --- --- --- 658 18 3 Kilobytes downloaded per day High Average Low --- --- --- --- 9,580 290 15 -
Hi Diane,
What does it look like in Google Webmaster Tools for your crawl stats? Do you have any warnings in there?
The date you are seeing in the SERPs is a date Google tries to pull that is related to the article, not the date that Google crawled the page. Look at the cache of an individual page and look at the cache date for that information.
When you're in Google Webmaster Tools, crawl the site as Googlebot to see what it is seeing. There might be a setting on your site that's showing one thing to Google and another to your users.

Often times when you change up a large amount of code on your site at once -- which is what you did when changing the template -- Google penalizes your site temporarily and it takes awhile for your site to return to the previous rankings it had.

Google Disavow Tool
Some background: My rankings have been wildly fluctuating for the past few months for no apparent reason. When I inquired about this, many people said that even though I haven't received any penalty notice, I was probably affected by penguin. (http://moz.com/community/q/ranking-fluctuations) I recently did a link detox by LinkRemovalTools and it gave me a list of all my links, 2% were toxic and 51% were suspiscious. Should I simply disavow the 2%? There are many sites where is no contact info.

Why is this site ranking so good?
Site in question: http://bit.ly/aBvVbm Our main competitor in the UK seems to be ranking extremely good for the keyword "jigsaw puzzles" even though their linking profile doesn't seem all that great? They mainly have site-wide links on 2 of their other ecommerce sites which seem to be given them their ranking power as this equals to 100's of links. Does sitewide links on 2 sites really give this much ranking power or am I missing something?

Google is keeping very old title tags in the SERPs for my site. How can I fix this?
Hi Around 6 months ago a site I work with changed its brand. One company became two. Despite changing the title when a new site went live around 6 months ago Google still picks up the old title for certain search results relevant to the old title. When a search result is relevant to the new title it shows that. It's very frustrating as we are trying to re-brand and do not want the old brand name showing for some very important search results. Thanks in advance for your help Paul

Redirect from old wordpress site to new php site? Best approach
Hi I have two websites one legacy site done in wordpress the other in php. However I would like to merge the two together and remove the wordpress site. However it has a good link profile and the pages rank well. What is the best approach to do a 301 redirect from the old site with all its pages pointing to the homepage of the new site? If so what's the best way to do this in wordpress? Many thanks

My site went from #3 to #2 to #1 to #10 in Google.nl
I have a site which has been #3 in Google.nl for a certain long tail phrase for pretty long. After I optimized my site some more for this specific phrase I went to #2 and eventually some weeks later to #1. But when I finally became #1, the celebration was short, as two weeks thereafter I dropped to #10 where I have been stuck for several weeks now... Can this be some sort of over optimization penalty? I personally don't think so as I hardly created links with the anchor, or a variation of it. On page also seems pretty much in order to me. Also, the site is on a exact match domain and used to rank for it, but doesn't even rank in the top #100 anymore. Any advice? PS: I rather don't publish the URL, but if anyone can help out I have no problem sending it in a private message, including the phrase in question.
