No real traffic, but moderately high PPC value - how come?
-
I've been given some terms with no noticeable traffic in the Keywords research tool, but have a moderately high PPC value - why is that and are they worth pursuing if they have no recordable traffic?
FYI, this may be a newbie assumption on my part that -- means no noticeable traffic...
Thanks guys!

You're welcome Phil, glad to have helped

Hey Simon - thanks for your answer. That makes a lot of sense!

Hi Phil
Without knowing the keywords in question, region etc it's difficult to tell.
However, most of the time in this situation, it can be that although there apparently isn't much search traffic out there for particular keywords, a lot of companies may still be bidding on them, thus the Competition would be high, resulting in higher than expected PPC costs. Can of course be other factors too such as low ad quality scores, broad match vs exact match...
Is it worth pursuing these or not ? Depends on the value of a visitor, if for example it's for "truck insurance", not a huge amount of volume though competitive because the average premium/purchase can be a couple of thousand, it could be worth bidding on these high cost keywords even though there isn't much traffic available.
A judgement call really as to the value of a visitor, likely conversion, other methods other than PPC of attracting them to your website...
Hope that helps,
Regards
Simon

Target Search Terms Changed - does this affect traffic?
We spent the last 12 months targeting a particular search term (mortgage broker) and have been ranking well for it consistently for about 6 months now. We have decided to change the target search term to something else (insurance broker) but noticed that our traffic has started to decline since we started doing this. We are still ranking well for the initial search term, and our ranking is slowly improving for the new targeted search term in SERPs but traffic is down about 60% from January. Is it normal/expected for this to happen?

Google Adwords traffic shows a different level to Google Trends
Hello I am doing some keyword research support for a client. The keywords that we are looking at Keyword A is 880 LMS and Keyword B is 2900 LMS through Google Adwords. When we look at Google Trends Keyword A is showing much high traffic than keyword B. Does anyone know why this is? Many thanks

Why are all my keywords rated "highly competitive"?
I am using the Keyword Analysis tool and it is telling me that almost all the keywords I put in are "highly competitive" even though there is very little competition on Google. Example: I enter the keyword "christian web designers" on Google, United Kingdom It then reports that this keyword is 53% Highly Competitive. However I Google this term in quotes and there is less then 4,000 results. I also enter this keyword into Traffic Travis which tells me the the difficulty is Relatively Easy. Am I doing something wrong here?

Plummeting traffic and rankings for main KWs
Hi there mozzers, You have been so helpful in the past and we'd really appreciate your insights into our problem... we have two data recovery companies in the UK, one has been established for 11 years (dataclinic.co.uk) , the second (datlabs.co.uk) is a subsidiary that's been around for 5 years. Dataclinic has always ranked highly, usually in the top 1-5 on page one for relevant KWs and towards the end of last year we had traffic of approx 1,800 UK visitors/month - now we're down to only 600. Week on week we're falling and I have started to dread the monitoring checks. We're slipping in the rankings too. As our business relies almost 100% on Google rankings our phones just aren't ringing. In contrast our subsidiary company datlabs is climbing up the rankings and drawing more traffic - but unfortunately nothing like enough to compensate for the decline in the main company's traffic. We have used the same kinds of marketing strategies for both but have invested more energy into social for dataclinic, and more energy into local for datlabs. I'd say that our strategies have been less than sparkling clean - we've paid for directory links but not with the really spammy directories. We're at a loss to understand what has happened to have had such a dramatic and devastating effect - please help!! Thanks so much Sue

Strong Keywords with Zero Returns in Google's Traffic Estimator
Hi: I have a dilemma and have not been able to find a good answer anywhere - and I have looked. 🙂 Gather up a bunch of keywords from Google's Keyword Tool that have tens of thousands of queries per month for local and global. When I plug the same keywords into Google's Traffic Estimator, even with a high bid (over $2) and a high daily budget ($50-100), I get all zeros returned from Traffic Estimator for columns Estimated Average CPC; Estimator Ad Position; Estimated Daily Budget, etc. Can someone please explain why this is the case? Is it because the keywords themselves, despite in some cases having hundreds of thousands of monthly searches, are low competition and therefore have no real value in Adwords? Thanks for your input and views, Phil

3 monitoring tools are giving me the simular SERP ranking position but manual searching and traffic are telling me something different. What gives?
I have looked up SERP position in 4 different tools, 3 out of the 4 (Raven, SEO Moz, and Google webmaster tools) are telling me that the site is ranking in the 90s range. When I manually search for the term (when I'm logged out), the site lists on the 1st pages. I also see it listed as the #9 spot when I use SEO Books Rank Checker. Last month, Google webmaster says that the term got us 200 impressions. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks

REAL demand for a keyword?
I once read there is a way to use google adwords to see the REAL demand for a specific keyword, google adwords tool and other tools seem to be not-so-accurate. I just don't remember the exact method, can you please remind me?
