Social Media

With so many different social network sites these days which ones really make a difference when it comes to SEO, Facebook? LinkedIn?
I only have limited time with my clients websites and a really want and need to expand their social network exposure
-
you made a good point, so many of my clients keep bringing up budget but if they dont want to invest theirs not much point having an old social media setup, Thank you
-
I have set up facebook pages for a couple of local sites and the facebook pages themselves have bounced about between page 1 and page 2, appearing on page 1 within a week.
The business owners have tended to leave the pages to stagnate despite my advice and they are still showing on page 2 with no links but a keyword match name.
If the client (or you on their behalf) is prepared to update the status, tweet etc regularly then there may be SEO value but also wider marketing value. If the Twitter page and Facebook page are never updated then it may not be a wise use of your time which you mention is limited.

Personally I use: digg.com, facebook, twitter and delicious - in the exact order posted.
It's a huge differences as far as impact the # of followers you have for each - the merrier the better (friends or likes with facebook, followers with digg and twitter and so on) but even with 0 followers with digg for example you can help some of your pages rank well.
The work involved is limited as far as time (resources) and you can easily spot the ones that work for you best and assign more time to get more exposure with those.
I vote with digg.com at this point as the main SN channel as it helped me a lot even with 0 or limited exposure (followers).
Is not what it was used to be but still it pulses a lot of power - I think it will soon become something like dmoz - it won't get to much direct traffic but you will have a good seo benefit from being present.

Google, Bing and Yahoo all use Facebook and Twitter as metrics, so I would suggest at least using those. But it is also about building up a reputable following as well. For example, if Matt Cutts were to re-tweet an article of mine, it would be a strong signal for the SE's.
Regards,
Andy

Lost almost all organic traffic. Need some help.
Hi Mozers. I blog about our son with Down syndrome (https://noahsdad.com) and you may remember me from this case study here on Moz. https://moz.com/blog/seventeen-ways-to-improve-your-blog-case-study I was getting close to 100,000k a month in organic traffic to our blog, then it slowly started to decline to the point where I am not only getting 3k in organic traffic a month. So basically I lost all of my traffic. I honestly have no idea what is going on or why this happened. I know everyone is busy but would anyone be up for taking a peak into my GA and search console and seeing if you can figure out what may have changed and why my traffic dropped off so much. Our website helps a lot of people so you'd be doing some good and it may even be a good case study post! Thanks so much!

How to get readers to engage with content
Hi everyone! Over the last year and a half, we've ramped up our content generation and have now hit our stride with a steady stream of blogs and videos. Both qualitatively and quantitatively, we are seeing great results. The problem is that the qualitative feedback is always passive. When we see clients, partners, etc. in person, they tell us that they love the content, but no one ever leaves comments or uses the call to actions to submit their info. There are some social shares, but now that LinkedIn no longer has a counter, it's hard to tell how much. I'm looking for advice on strategies to get more active engagement with our content. The ideal outcome would be active conversations and lead generation. Thanks everyone!

Internal Links from Blog
Quick question. In regards to linking to products from your blog. I've read recently that linking excessively between your site can be a bad SEO habit. So, I was curious if anyone else has heard of this. Plus, if you have a blog, how many internal links should you have going to you pages on your site - other blogs, products etc? Thanks.

If I write a article for a client and use Social Book Marking software, will this add value (or does the value depend on how ofen it gets shared)?
I'm about to start experimenting with bookmarking software. My first step is trying Ping.com (because it's free), but I am also keen to try Onlywire.com (which comes at a cost- darn). My questions are: when I create an article for a client and post to all these social sites will this make a difference? Or will it only make a difference if people share the article? Has anyone been experimenting with social bookmarking software that can tell me what results they have had and how they got there? Thanks a mil!
