Link value when with parameter ?
-
Hi all,
I added some links to my website, but because I want to track traffic and other things, all links were created with Google URL Builder and slightly customized.
So the end result looks like this: http://www.example.com/example_home.asp?acs=986lfqa&utm_source=keyword.fr&utm_medium=RP&utm_content=example_Link&utm_campaign=General
All links are containing keyword as anchor text. And the question is if Google is smart enough to figure out that the anchor text is for http://www.example.com and not for the whole /example_home.asp............
I'm afraid that it will see it as entirely different page and don't pass link value.

Yes, thanks a lot for the answer.

Hi Vasil,
What you can do is add a canonical link to the page.
This ensures that Google sees the page as the given URL no matter which query strings are passed.
rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com/home.asp" />
So if you link from another page with:
Then the canonical link makes Google ignore all the query strings, giving juice to just this one URL. For more information? Check out this blog:
Hope this can help you.

How long before links are found in analytics?
I'm new to website building and have recently set up some links by submitting my website in directories and have also got some people in the same industry to link to my website. But they aren't being found in moz analytics. Does it take time or should they be getting found?

Best to Leave Toxic Links or Remove/Disovow on Site with Low Number of Linking Domains
Our site has only 87 referring domains (with at least 7,100 incoming links). LinkDetox has identified 29% of our back links as being toxic and 14% as being questionable. Virtually all of these links derive from spammy sites. We never received a manual penalty, but ever since the first Penguin penalty in 2012 our search volume and ranking has dropped with some uneven recover in the last 3 years. By removing/disavowing toxic links are we risking that over optimized link text will be removed and that ranking will suffer as a result? Are we potentially shooting ourselves in the foot? Would we be better to spend a few months building quality links from reputable domains before removing disavowing bad links? Or toxic links (as defined by LinkDetox) so bad that it should be a priority to remove them immediately before taking any other step? Thanks, Alan

Links from PA/DA of 1
My immediate thought is that a link from a website that has a PA/DA of 1 for both or either metric would be absolutely worthless, but I just wanted to make sure. Could this also be from it being recently indexed? Also is there a rule of thumb that anybody knows, or tries to follow at least? Obliviously the higher the better, but for example; A PA/DA of 15 and below is SPAM A PA/DA of 30 and above is GOOD A PA/DA of 50 is GREAT PA/DA of 80 is AMAZING PA/DA of 100 is GODTIER

Linking Multiple Niche Site In Same Google Analytics Account
Hi, I am providing SEO for Local business. Is it advisable to separate out the Google Analytics into different Google account or is it ok to remain it this way? Some of the client might be in the same niche, and might be competing with the same keywords as well. What I was worried is, Google might see these sites as same owner and only rank for 1 of the site. I was thinking to get the owners to register for their own Google Analytics and share the access to me.

Megamenu: Too many links really bad?
Hi there! Our site hosts paid training videos, and has a javascript menu that lists EVERY video on the site, and it is our most-used method of navigation. The menu is structured to look like the business software our training videos cover, so it's very intuitive for users. That said, since we currently have so many videos EVERY page has more than 250 links. The only way to get this down to under 100 as SEOMOZ recommends is to delete/hide the link from being seen by search engines. What should I do? Is the menu worth being visible to search engines? businessonetraining.com

How to track link building? What metrics?
I'm an SEO newbie (my main roles are front-end designer and content manager).
Reporting & Analytics | | RSGregC
I've been managing our company's effort to generate links. In the past, trying to develop relationships has gone nowhere. As a result, we're currently mostly creating good content ourselves and posting it on Web2.0 sites (weebly, etc.) and linking back to our site, and then using UAW (unique article wizard) to create a second tier of links to those links. We've been doing this for a while, and our traffic from SEO is going up - but we don't really know how to track our work. Can you please
a) give your opinion about our approach, and
b) tell me which metrics we should be using, and which tools for these metrics? Thank you so much

Finding and removing "Bad" Back Links
In the process of trying to figure out where all of the “Bad” backlinks are coming from I used the SEOmoz Site Explorer. I can see the links that may be questionable but am not sure how to determine if these are the issue causing the loss of rank or could it be something else. On Google webmasters they list Siteloki.com as the one with the most links. The count is now at 13,005. (see attached WMT report)

I first noticed this a month ago, 6,742 links and have tried contacting them with no reply, no results, I have even posted on the site asking to be removed from their listing and not response. Website: www.getyourphotosoncanvas.com I do not understand why this site is not showing up in the Site Explorer link analysis report (See attached)? Could this be some sort of hack or hidden links that Site Explorer does not see? How do I determine if this is real or not, if it is the reason that Google is demoting us? Google says that we are not being manually penalized? 5zAQq Iz9ct0
