Keyword Research?

What is the best way and best tool to conduct Keyword Research for my site? With the Pro service is there a way to find out better keywords to add to my website? I am receiving emails that my web site is being crawled and will be completed in seven days and so far this is not a "Report Card"? is that correct? Thanks for any information

Thank you for both responses. I really appreciate it. Have a good day!

For keyword research, I still have to say that the keyword tool for Google is my standard. I use others from time to time, but I believe Google does a good job with it. The other thing you can do is to look at what competitors are focusing on. (The caveat is that sometimes they are wrong so check to see that people are searching on a term before you go to the trouble to use it. Again Googles Keyword tool works great). One note here is to always try different applications as they come along. (I have never used SE Cockpit as Rusty suggests, so I will take a look soon.)
For your on page report card, go to Research Tools, click on On Page Optimization, Enter your keyword and the url, and click. In a moment Voila!
There are two ways to have your site crawled - one is in campaigns and the other is the crawl test. The campaign reports come out every Tuesday. For the crawl test, you will get a report usually within 24 to 48 hours.
Hope this helps,

For the "report" you go to the on page option in the menu at the dashboard. You should have that there. If there is nothing there by default, try clicking on the sub menu for report card and you can enter any URL you like in there. It needs to be for a keyword you've setup for one of your sites though.
I find this tool best for finding out what my competition is doing in regards to links. Where are they getting them and then I try to get them from the same place. That way I pretty much match anything they do plus I have my own links. I just go after their links with the highest page authority.
I've only been in for three weeks but for keyword research I like SE Cockpit. It frankly rocks. It has an API interface for SEOmoz so I get some moz data there. I just don't get the link information that I need. For that I'm coming here. This is a great tool to monitor your rankings and monitor your competition. You do that by setting up your competition in moz. I think in the link analysis.
I hope that helps.

Are Keywords treated as Case Sensitive?
We found that keywords are not case sensitive, but MOZ show same keyword in different case under "Top National Keywords" tab. Eg: 1) Wobble Wedge 2) wobble wedge

Keyword Difficulty
is probably a "how long is a piece of string" question but wondered how to use the keyword difficulty tool, particularly in relation to the % and the wording moderate, what are these actually saying? Perhaps some of you could give details of how you use this tool and apply the % and term to real world situations, Thanks in advance, Lee

Google keyword tool [exact match]
Hey there, I'm trying to work out what my next big course to run will be. I want to know if my technique is a good gauge of popularity. I'm using Google's keyword tool specifically for New Zealand. I'm typing in a course topic e.g Photoshop Courses and looking at the exact match results to see if there might be a market for that course. Broad match seems to offer up a lot more numbers but seem a bit vague. Am i right to think 'After Effects Training' wouldn't be a popular course as it returns a (<10) local monthly result while 'Photoshop Courses' might be ok as it has a (46)? **I'd appreciate any insight. ** Dan

How do you optimize for compound keywords
What is the best way to handle keywords like "switchplate covers"? The key word may be seen as either a 2 or 3 word phrase, depending how you handle the compound term: "switch plate" or "switchplate" In google KW it shows different results for switch plate vs switchplate as well as using cover vs covers. I've tried using all the variations in my descriptions, titles and H2s but I think this is diluting them all. Can anyone show me best practice guidelenes or examples of good solutions to these kinds of compound key words? Thanks Handcrafter

Keyword cannibalization in ecommerce sites
I'm assuming this is a common problem in ecommerce sites. Lets say we have a "sleeping bags" which has all types of sleeping bags on it. Then build a brand page "The North Face" with a subpage for The North Face sleeping bags. Is it possible to target the sleeping bags page for "sleeping bags" while targeting the branded sleeping bag page for "The North Face sleeping bag"? how would you suggest doing this while avoiding keyword cannibalization?

Keyword Updates
I have a list of keywords in a campaign that I need to update. I use the keyword report card to review those keyword performance by page. I dont currently see a way to update those keywords, I only see the option to add or delete. I don't want to delete and re-enter because then I will lose that "mapping". Is there a way to simply update a keyword?
