SEOMoz Crawl Warnings, do they really hurt rankings?
-
SEOMoz reports 250 crawl warnings on my site. In most cases its too long title tags, with 4 of them its missing meta description.
SEOMoz says it will hurt my rankings? However, I'm sure a recent whiteboard Friday contradicted this.
So what is it?

This may be the video, Matt Cutts said, the #1 mistake people make in SEO is crawlability
He states that crawability biggest step, then great content after thet marketing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6xxcQdAHbIBing also suggests crawlability is important.
Listening to Duane Forrester from Bing he often mentions trust in relation to SEO violations. The wrong use of redirects and canonical tags, errors and wrong dates in sitemaps, and other violations all lead to a loss of trust.
This is becoming even more important with microdata. A simple html error can give completely different meaning to the snippets. Up until now the bots had to find the content and work out if it is visible to the user, but now with microdata content is arranged in objects and being able to find and crawl these objects mean that you need to be free of violations -
I humbly suggest the test you performed is flawed in some manner. Meta descriptions have no direct effect on Google rankings.
If you wish to stretch, you could say that a meta description might influence CTR and other metrics which do affect rankings. In that sense, almost anything can indirectly effect rankings.

Meta descriptions do affect ranking. I tested.

Matt Cutts himself mentioned in one of his videos that your website's accessibility to Google bot is one of the major things. You want 0 crawl errors and as many pages in Google index as possible.
-
Each warning is for a different metric. Depending on the metric it may affect rankings.
The long title tag warning is an issue which can affect rankings. The best understanding we have of title tags indicates the entire tag gets a fixed weight. If you use a single term such as "SEO" then all of the weight it applied to that single term. If you use a short phrase such as "Improve SEO Rankings" then the weight is divided amongst the three terms (although not evenly).
The title tag carries a lot of weight. If you provide long title tags you are likely losing some of the value and it definitely can affect rankings.
Additionally, the title tag affects Click Through Rate. If you offer a long title tag, it will get cut off by search engines and will likely reduce CTR.
Meta descriptions do not affect ranking (for Google) but they do impact CTR.
Bottom line, the warnings are designed to call your attention to items which should be investigated and/or fixed.

Ranking - UK or Localised?
The MOZ rankings are based on a GOOGLE UK search, when in reality when someone does a search on Google, the results, by default, are localised (based on the City IP). We need to see where we rank for a local search (Leeds) and also for a UK search?

How to Refresh the Rankings Tool?
Is there a way to manually refresh the "Rankings" part of a campaign? I know about the Rank Tracker tool but didn't have a lot of keywords set up there. So I need to refresh the Rankings in the Campaign to know exactly which rankings have dropped in the past few hours... any way to do that?

SEOMoz ranking reports inaccurate for Google?
So I have notice that, at least for some searches, the rankings shown in SEOMoz's ranking reports are meaningless. I assume this is due to blended search results including local search. For example, I have a client, who is ranked 3rd overall for one of his most important search terms, but his ranking is based upon his local result (there are 2 organic search results and then he is the first local result). The SEOMoz report shows him being ranked 12th. Anyway I count down to the 12th ranked site (including local search, not including local search) his site is not there. In fact the only place it is in the top 3 pages is in the local result. As a local marketing consultant, almost all of my clients are looking to be found for "Jackson Hole" this or that, or "Jackson, WY" this or that, so this is a pretty critical issue to me. I would appreciate feedback. Thanks!

SEOMOZ stopped counting local results as a rank?
I had a terrifying experience today upon receiving my weekly rankings report that stated I had dropped out of google for the majority of my keywords! However upon further inspection it would appear the report is not including local results in the ranking (my page shows up #1 but is a local result). This didn't happen before, did something change that I didn't know about?

Ranking Tracker not correct?
Over the last 6 weeks I've been linkbuilding for one of my customers. The search term is: bed and breakfast portugal. It is not easy but we are making progress. The goal is the number 1 page (top 10 results) in Google.nl I've been keeping score with Rank Tracker and also created a campaign. Last week we were still ranked 11 (for some time already) according to Rank Tracker but tuesday we made a jump to number 7. Whoehoe you would say but opening up Chrome and Firefox browser I am still seeing www.bedandbreakfast-casaceedina.com on the 2nd page? Maybe somebody can give me an explanation? I've de-personalized my search and also Rank tracker show s the command they are using: http://www.google.nl/search?q=bed+and+breakfast+portugal&pws=0 However also using that I'm not seeing my client back at position 7. How can the Rank tracker information be so wrong, I was hoping not off course 🙂 Your help is appreciated very much.

Are the Ranking Changes on SEOmoz ranking reports weekly or life of the keyword?
I am referring to the area where it says ranking changes and where it has a green and a red arrow for improved and declined.
