Link Juice
-
When we say "link juice", does it mean that a particular page has link juice ( due to backlinks pointing towards the page )
or each link on that page has link juice which it passes to the target page
I suppose "link juice " is different from Pagerank ?

Ahhh, Juice vs. Rank....
Imagine Page Rank as the orange of the Internet. (The fruit;not the color
So, a given orange (page) only holds so much juice. A page may have as many straws as is possible so long as you understand that the more straws there are the less juice to go through each straw. Soooo, if an orange holds 10 ounces of juice (roughly 300 ml. for my more metrically inclined friends) and, if there is only one person with a straw.... lucky lady gets the whole orange worth minus just a tad that sticks in the straw.
But, imagine a lot of people are needed to make the orange grow and develop juice and they all get a straw. So, now there are ten people with straws. They each get a bit less than one ounce (again, some sticks to the straw).
But wait, there is more to this breakfast time analogy..... Imagine there is one person who is really loved by the oranges! And the oranges each give that person a straw! Well, that person becomes Minute Maid (Big orange juice company) as it has a thousand straws from oranges that hold an ounce of juice to ten ounces. As the result they have the most orange juice in the world. Notice Chris' picture....that is orange juice! Really!!!

Link Juice is so 2010. Link Love is the way forward
-
Link Juice provides a way of illustrating and conceptualising how PageRank flows between pages and websites, therefore Link Juice is just another term for PageRank

Quality links are beneficial, but are neutral links detrimental?
So obviously a link profile featuring quality / authoritative / relavant in-bound links is preferable, but here's my question: If I'm starting work on a brand new domain, should I build links that one would consider neutral (i.e. from a non-spammy, but unrelated site) or should I not bother and only focus on quality links? Thanks

A Puzzling Link
I'm stumped and I'm hoping some mozzers will be able to help. I run our company blog (http://scottymacblog.com/). The last couple of days I have noticed that the blog is receiving some traffic from cnn.com. I looked, but cannot find any mention of the blog on cnn. Adding to my frustration is that the content on cnn is constantly changing. Our blog doesn't do any sort of advertising and no one affiliated with the blog posts on cnn. As great as it is to be getting traffic from such a valued source, I have no idea why. Has something like this happened to (for?) anyone else? Any ideas on how I can research the source of the link? Thanks in advance!

Metrics to determine the quality of a link?
I found this very useful post on SEOMoz http://www.seomoz.org/blog/525600-metrics-how-do-you-measure-measure-a-link, but its a bit dated. Also, it doesn't really help in terms of applying exact metrics to measure the quality of a link. Does anyone have any other suggestions to help automate / determine the quality of a link?
