Canonical Issues with Wordpress
-
Hi all,
I have just started using Wordpress SEO by Yoast and still having a hard time correcting my Canonical issues for all posts with a .html at the end.
The pluggin allows you to add a '/' to the end for canonical issues, but just for pages, not posts.
How best in Wordpress to make my post change from .html/ to .html. I really don't want to go to the hassle to make each URL a new 301 redirect in my .htaccess.
I hate the .html, but if they are going to stay, how can I make sure I get the .html/ link juice back to them.
Many thanks!

In my permalink structure page in settings, I have it set as follows:
Custom Structure: /%postname%.html
I know, don't ask why I set it up this way years ago. But thinking how best to remedy the solution without hurting my traffic.

Are you using a plugin to append .html to the end of WP pages? If not, I'm confused as to what html doctypes are doing on WP

Duplicate Content Issues
We have some "?src=" tag in some URL's which are treated as duplicate content in the crawl diagnostics errors? For example, xyz.com?src=abc and xyz.com?src=def are considered to be duplicate content url's. My objective is to make my campaign free of these crawl errors. First of all i would like to know why these url's are considered to have duplicate content. And what's the best solution to get rid of this?

No follow and do follow on wordpress
I am in the process of building a new wordpress site to replace my old static HTML site and I am now doing SEO on it. With my old site the default was do follow and I could easily change the HTML to no follow but on my wordpress site the default is no follow and I cannot seem to find a way to change parts to do follow. Tried a plugin but it does not deal with the home page at all and when I select do follow my SEO tools still highlight the links as no follow. A bit stumped on this one. Anyone have any experience with this? thanks

Home page canonical issues
I think I’ve got a canonical issue with a client’s site that I’m having problems with I’ve noticed in their analytics that they receive traffic from themselves. I’ve used ‘ rel canonical’ throughout the site to avoid any dup issues and I have 301’ed every other variation of the home page I can think of. I don’t have full access to the back end of the host to control any of the iis as it’s an asp site. They seem to be getting traffic from their site under the URL of, example.com I’ve 301 redirected www.example.com/home.asp www.example.com/default.asp www.example.com/index.asp to www.example.com And 'rel canonical' the home page to www.example.com but still seem to be having the same problem any ideas? Thanks

Drupal issue
Hi seomozzers again, One of my clients uses DRUPAL(cms) and I have an issue when editing any pages. I access the edit section of the page, try to insert meta description tags, save and view the page source and NO meta description tags appear!! Why is that? Is there a specific setting that I need to implement? Under Meta Tags, apparently DRUPAL likes to put canonical tags by default(unless i can tweek one of the settings), and I would like to remove them. The weird thing is that even there are no canonical tags set, when viewing the page source I can still locate a canonical tag. Is there a setting that allow me to remove the canonical by default? Thank you mozzers:)

Does having mulitste wordpress with same templaes hurt you?
Ok seo guys, don't get crazy here I am not trying to build a link wheel or anything black hat that's why I am asking. I want to create several sites that are within my niche but cannot be on the same site because it just wouldn't make sense. So for the purpose of branding a company can we have multi sites with similar templates or does google not want this. I am not trying to rank these for the sole purpose of back linking but I want them all on a mulit site so they can have the same buddy press network. Let me know what you guys think.

Duplicate canonical URLs in WordPress
Hi everyone, I'm driving myself insane trying to figure this one out and am hoping someone has more technical chops than I do. Here's the situation... I'm getting duplicate canonical tags on my pages and posts, one is inside of the WordPress SEO (plugin) commented section, and the other is elsewhere in the header. I am running the latest version of WordPress 3.1.3 and the Genesis framework. After doing some testing and adding the following filters to my functions.php: <code>remove_action('wp_head', 'genesis_canonical'); remove_action('wp_head', 'rel_canonical');</code> ... what I get is this: With the plugin active + NO "remove action" - duplicate canonical tags

With the plugin disabled + NO "remove action" - a single canonical tag
With the plugin disabled + A "remove action" - no canonical tag I have tried using only one of these remove_actions at a time, and then combining them both. Regardless, as long as I have the plugin active I get duplicate canonical tags. Is this a bug in the plugin, perhaps somehow enabling the canonical functionality of WordPress? Thanks for your help everyone. Robert Dempsey0 -
Duplicate title issue
During the crwal SEO moz found duplicate title problems with quite a good number of pages. This was because my site has test questions like http://www.skill-guru.com/12/scjp-5-mock-test/questions and when user does next or previous, they can traverse to different pages but the title and descrition would remain same. How can this probkem be resolved ?
