Site Ranking Report
-
Hi guys,
My site ranking report says that I've gone from being 1-20 for a variety of keywords in Google UK to not in the top 50. When I do a search myself I see that my site remains where it previously was (between 1-20).
How reliable is the site ranking reporting on a weekly basis? Is it best to look at it monthly?

The ranking reports from Moz are generally very reliable. In fact, they've been shown to be one of the most reliable in the business.
Often when folks see a difference between Moz results and personal searching, it's because of the effects of both localization and personalization, as Brendan mentioned. In addition to his blog post, you might want to take a look at this one here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/google-personalized-search
Here's the big question: Did your organic traffic drop? That's one of the easiest ways to verify if you've experienced a true drop in rankings.

The results are accurate for the time they were checked. Rankings can fluctuate more dramatically than people would normally think. Google, for example, will move sites around in the rankings seemingly to use the performance of the site at different SERP positions to help the algorithm come up with a more accurate rank for the site.

Thanks, Brendan. I've tried that and I know for a fact that my results are very different from the latest ranking report I've got.

Hi Gerard,
In my experience the SEOmoz ranking report is fairly accurate. It's sometimes a few places off but it's good enough. I suspect that you're seeing personalised results which would account for the difference in rankings. To make sure that you're not seeing personalised result, add pws=0 into the URL. For example, if I search for widgets, I should see the URL as http://www.google.co.uk/search?pws=0&q=widgets
If you're using Chrome, I wrote a blog post about how to easily get non-personalised results.
Hope that helps,
Brendan.

Why Do Different Tools Report 404s Differently?
Hi Mozers, How come Moz reports just six 404 errors, whereas Google Search Console reports 250 and Screaming Frog only reports a dozen? It seems to me that these results are all over the place. Shouldn't these reports be more consistent? I do understand that Search Console includes historical data and that URLs or issues need to be "marked as fixed" in order for them to go away, however, even if I do this, Google ends up reporting far more errors than anything else. Do 404s reported by Moz and Screaming Frog NOT include external links? It seems to me that this could be partially responsible for the issue. Also, is there a way to efficiently track the source of the 404s besides clicking on "Linked From" within Search Console 250 times? I was looking for something like this is Moz or SF but no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thanksabunch!

Is it possible to track rank history
I would like to know is it possible to track a keywords past ranking history? We would like to check the ranking history of some potential vendors, but only get data from the point I add them to Alabs, moz etc. Id like to go back a year to see the trend in their rankings. Is this possible and what tool or process can be used to achieve this. Thanks in advance.

Universal results not in pdf or csv reports
Right now, the universal results show up when I look at tankings on the site, but do not show up at all in the weekly pdf reports. They also did not appear in the full rankings history .csv report. They only appear in the weekly csv report, and then, the information is not as detailed as it is on the website (it only shows whether a universal exists, but doesn't indicate at what position it shows up). This limits the usefulness of these reports to my customers. I need to be able to show them rankings histories, including universal results, in their monthly or weekly reports. Including the charts would be nice as well. Since I can individually download the .pdfs for these for each keywords, why can't we just include it in the monthly reports. Also, would like to be able to view rankings history for all three search engines at once for a keyword, or multiple keywords to reduce the number of pages in a report. Can you add this feature?

Why is my site not ranking?
I have done various link building strategies, and used all white hat seo methods. SEOMoz even shows that my site is better than all my competition, but yet it doesn't rank ANYWHERE on Google. Can someone point me in the right direction as to why this is happening? I have attached the opensitexplorer screenshot showing my competition. 2013-02-13_1456_zpsb86ab0e1.png

Why are results different on Rank Tracker tool and New Rankings Weekly Reports?
Good Morning... Every week i get an email from SEO Moz that is showing me where the keywords i am tracking are currently in the SERPS (New Rankings and On-Page Reports)... Is there a reason that the current rank shown on these emails would be so different than what is shown when i use SEO Moz's rank tracker? For example, it shows one keyword has a rank of 48 (via email) and a rank of 16 through the rank tracker. What would cause such a great discrepancy? Thanks

Potential site architecture problem.
We are experiencing a problem in which category pages do not appear to be passing Page Authority to subcategory pages. See the example below: Home page has PA of 47 http://www.minespress.com/ The next level category page down has a PA of 34 http://www.minespress.com/category/apparel The next sub category down has PA of 1, and shows no links at all in spite of the fact that we got to it from a category link http://www.minespress.com/category/golf-shirts The page in question is crawlable, is indexed and has nothing that we can see that would be prevent it from showing Page Authority and a link profile using your tools. Do we have a site architecture problem?
