Why do people like BOTW?

I see people here recommending BOTW all the time. I don't get it. As far as I can tell, the one thing they have going for them is a high Domain Authority. They don't send any referral traffic to my client's sites. Their customer care is laughable.
I'm up for renewals for several of my clients on BOTW. I don't want to oversee the decay of my client's back-links, but I also don't want to waste money on crappy directories like this one.
I'm really asking for someone to convince me that BOTW is worthwhile.

The value of links from all large directories like BOTW is debatable. We know that Google has devalued these links over the pass few years, but some webmasters feel they still pass enough value to justify the cost.
One thing is for certain: they are no longer the "must have" links like they used to be. You can group DMOZ and Yahoo directory in this category as well. If it's within your budget, these links certainly don't hurt and, of course, they are fairly easy to acquire.
In my personal opinion, (and this does not represent an official Moz stance) if you actively and successfully peruse other link-building opportunities, it may not be worth the expense of these types of directory links.

BOTW has a free listing that I think most people opt for, rather than the paid ones.

Sudden big drop for keyword ranking this month -Numerous possible factors... which is most likely?
Hi I have a fairly new site (domain around 1 year and 6 months old) and in December it was sitting on Google's second page for our main keyword "cv writing service" In late December we had a couple of stories picked up by the press and got some really good contextual links from a handful of well known media sites with DA60 and above. Naturally I thought this would have a positive effect on our position for our keyword so I checked and was shocked to see that the site is now sitting on page 4... A drop of 2 pages Also my site has dropped one point in DA on the Moz open site explorer I have some possible theroies for the drop but would really appreicate if anyone could point me in the right direction for the possible cause of this drop and what I need to focus on to fix tihs issue. Theories.... I made some big changes to the copy of my homepage and aboutapge a few weeks before the stories were picked up - although the copy is still similar content and optimised for my keywords I had some early SEO work done by a freelancer in the early days and I now realise that a lot of the links are very weak and on quite poor looking sites (although they are not flagged as spammy in OSE, I think they are spammy) The story that got picked up by the media was slightly off topic - it was about jobs rather than CV's - could this make google think that my site is not relevant? Prior to these stories being picked up - we took a short break from link building for a few months due to resource issues So if anyone knows if any of these factors are likely to have caused the drop I would be grateful to know! Should I worry about backlinks like this?
So I am going through my backlink profile and of course those random backlinks popup from spammy type sites like this which are useless. Should I worry about links that come from sites like these? http://ppfinder.com/camy/shelvy

Is commenting on other peoples blogs / articles good for seo?
Hello everyone, Just a quick question, say if I find some websites which are relevant to my service and they have articles I can comment on and include my URL , will these help for SEO? The websites also have a good PR rating higher than 3 does this count towards anything? Would these links be classed 'follow' or 'nofollow' links - could something please explain what this means aswell. Thanks very much!

Getting two BOTW.org listings? Regular drirectory + blog directory?
I have a start-up website. It's a niche market that's not all that competitive. I'm trying to get going with some basic link building, and I'm trying to focus for the time being on some recommended directories: BOTW, yahoo, business.com, etc. I already have a regular BOTW directory listing, accepted a few days ago. I'm wondering if it's worth also getting a BOTW blog directory listing? So two BOTW listings, the first pointing to the homepage, the second would point to the blog. If there is meaningful link juice to be passed, would there be an advantage of having two links? Or will the one I already have suffice? Also, since the site is new, I only have a few blog posts. Is BOTW likely to reject me because my blog is too thin? The posts I have are content-heavy (1000-2500 words per entry), but there's just not a large total quantity yet. Normally I wouldn't consider it, but they're having a cyber-monday sale today where it's 50% off the regular price, so it makes the decision easier. Thanks.

Dripable.com and dripfeed.com. I really see no value whatsoever in any service like this. If anyone has an opinion that differs from mine. Go ahead.
I cant believe people are still using services like this. The interesting thing is that they do seem to offer great customer service, but that "service" seems to only spin comment spam and back profile backlinks. Id love for our community to discuss more sites like this so that Junior SEO's or people just starting dong get wooed by the promise of AWESOME links. Cheers,

BOTW listing
Okay, I've heard a lot about botw.org listing and how it should be on our list. So I dig down to my category, and according to seotoolbar, page does NOT show a google cache date. Well, wouldn't that be a wast of $150? Also, I think I'm in the wrong business. I'm seeing these HUGE fees for seo and link building services. Even just consulting is outrageously high. There has got to be an option for us little guys, but obviously professionals in the seo market are making a ton of money.

Are you guilty of too much planning and not enough action like me?
I really don't need an answer to this, but thought it would be an interesting topic to discuss. I have found that since joining SEOMoz, I have been getting some great information on advanced SEO tactics. I'm learning how to analyze competitor's backlinks, create and promote linkbait, craft a convincing link request email and so much more. But I've also found that I am in a state of paralysis by analysis! I'm not doing anything! So...this week I'll be putting into action a piece of linkbait that I've been working on for a while...and then promoting it. It's time for action!
