Hi there,
I have recently joined a company to look after the e-marketing side of things, anyway the company I work for have been writing articles for a website that they own for over 2 years, probably about 200 or so unique articles on that website, however over the past year or so there has been no contribution to this site and was wondering if it would be worthwhile transferring these article over to our blog?, as this is where all the attention is in terms of marketing etc
Kind Regards,
-
I think Alan already gave an answer to this. Moving content to commercial site will make it stronger at the cost of weakening non-commercial site.
If you are planning to focus all your effort on commercial site, it sounds like a good ideas. On other hand if your non-commercial website is important to you as well you might one to reconsider it.
Kind regards
Bojan

Very interesting, do you think it's worthwhile?

Correct
-
Thanks for your quick reply Alan.
I will only strengthen the website I put them on if I delete this page from the website I am taking them from, is that correct?
Kind Regards,
-
Hi Bojan,
Ok, the company I work for has a website example.com (non-commercial) as well as there main website (commercial) where the blog is also hosted, however on example.com they have been producing lots of well written and original articles over the past 3 years or so, however over the past year or so there has been no contribution at all to this website and to be honest there has never been a marketing strategy for this website (I know hard to believe).
So I thought the main website & blog (commercial) where all the effort is and a marketing strategy to support the effort is in place, why not move these articles over to the blog, where is will be seen by thousands and may have an impact on SEO.
Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi.
I'm not sure I fully understood you,
The company that you are currently employed has website with blog and they would like to transfer articles to a blog while removing them website?
-
You will weaken the site you take the articles from, and strengthen the one you put them on.

How do I fix my portfolio causing duplicate content issues?
Hi, Im new to this whole duplicate content issue. I have a website, fatcatpaperie.com that I use the portofolio feature in Wordpress as my gallery for all my wedding invitations. I have a ton of duplicate content issues from this. I don't understand at all how to fix this. I'd appreciate any help! Below is an example of one duplicate content issue. They have slightly different names, different urls, different images and all have no text. But are coming up as duplicates. Would it be as easy as putting a different metadescription for each?? Thanks for the help! Optimizing a product category vs. a bespoke content page
Hi there, I work for a furniture retailer in the UK and I have a question about ranking for search phrases. Say I'm looking to rank for the keyword phrases: 'Tempur mattress' and 'Tempur mattress liverpool' and I have a category at: www.mysite.co.uk/tempur/ which list all of our mattresses, would I be better trying to optimize this page for those key phrases or would I be better generating a new page, say, www.mysite.co.uk/tempur-mattress-liverpool.html Thank you for your input.

Is this hidden content?
Hi all, I was wondering if the homepage of www.dirtylooks.com has hidden content in a search engines eyes. There is some text which appears underneath a tile called "hair tools" that has to be scrolled in order to be viewed by a visitor. As this isn't the typical white on white or off page by CSS hidden content are we in danger of being penalised?

Pages with near duplicate content
Hi Mozzers, I need your opinion on the following. Imagine that we have a product X (brand Sony for example), so if we sell parts for different models of items of this product X, we then have numerous product pages with model number. Sony camera parts for Sony Camera XYZ parts for Sony Camera XY etc. So the thing is that these pages are very very similar, like 90% duplicate and they do duplicate pages for Panasonic, Canon let's say with small tweaks in content. I know that those are duplicates and I would experiment removing a category for one brand only (least seached for), but at the same time I cannot remove for the rest as they convert a lot, being close to the search query of the customer (customer looks for parts for Sony XYZ, lands on the page and buys, insteading of staying on a page for Sony parts where should additionally browse for model number). What would you advise to make as unique as possible these pages, I am thinking about: change page titles. meta descriptions tweak the content as much as I can (very difficult, there is nothing fancy or different in those :(() i will start with top top pages that really drive traffic first and see how it goes. I will remove least visited pages and prominently put the model number in Sony parts page to see how it goes in terms of organic and most importantly conversions Any other ideas? I am really concerned about dupes and a penalty, but I try to think of solutions in order not to kill conversions at this point. Have a lovely Monday

Webmaster tools content keywords conundrum
I'm working on optimising a phrase that is made up of two words. I've noticed in webmaster tools that the two words are listed separately under the content keywords section. This is fine apart from the two words are listed at very different significance levels, 2 and 18. Drilling deeper it shows that both these words have two variants. The word in position 2 occurs 483 times and the word in 18 occurs 60 times. Sadly the phrase is commercially sensitive as I'd like to just be able to share it here but can't. Should I be looking to include the weaker word more frequently on the site? In anchor text? Or is this normal distribution? Would optimising the weaker word risk the wrath of Panda? moz-question.jpg

Google showing my content on the serps in a different domain
Hi all, Recently a partner of ours discovered that Google is showing a meta description on the serps for his homepage that is not his but ours. On his site, he sells add-ons for our software, so the name of our software appears many times and as well there are many links pointing to our site. He claims he hasn´t copied this text from us, and I have used some tools to verify this. I don´t understand how Google can get confused and show our text as the meta desctiption on the serps for his homepage. Any idea on why this happened?

Does class and id names considered as text content by google
Does google and other search engines considers the class and id names as part of text content. Will it be included in the keyword density and treated as a content. For Example: <a <span="">href</a><a <span="">="http://xyz.com" title="xyz" class="topmargin_rightside_middlenavigation_home"></a> Will google considers the words "topmargin rightside middlenavigation home" as part of the text. Also If i am supposed to use this class as many times on a page, will the keyword density affects.

Duplicate content with a trailing slash /
Hi, I 've pages like this: A) www.example.com/file/ B) www.example.com/file Just two questions: Does Google see this as duplicate content? Best to 301 redirect B to A? Many thanks Richard PS I read previous threads re the subject, it sounded like there was a bug in SEOMoz but I was not absolutely clear. Apologies if this is going over old ground.
