OSE Link Report Question.
-
Hi,
when i export a link report as a csv file via the export tool on OSE, there is a column in the exported table called "Numder of Link". Please explain me, what does this column says exactly. Its located between "Domain Authorithy" and "Number of Domains Linking to Domain".
Thanx,
Seb.

Hi Seb,
"Number of Links" includes the total amount of links from all websites. Two links from the same website would be included twice.
Hope this helps!
Erica

When will links appear
When will links appear? Hi I submitted one of our products to a range of beauty bloggers and all of the reviews came back, really positive, along with links to our site. However when I run a back link report in open site explorer only one of these links is showing up even though the links all went live at about the same time. Can any one explain this in discrepancy?

Broken links in the pdf of the On Page Report
Hi, I run an individual On Page report for a particular URL, then I export as pdf. The URL appears in the pdf and looks fine but when you click on it it goes to a 'page not found'. I know the URL is correct. When I hover over the URL in the pdf i notice that the word 'Good' is at the end of my URL but I did not put this in there. if I give the report to a client it doesn't look so good. http://www.narellanpools.com.au/local-contact/narellan-pools-alburywodongaGood Is this a bug? SEOMoz reports and 404 errors
My SEOMoz report shows a 404 error, found today for this url: http://globalheavyhaul.com/google.com i do not have this anchor text anywhere on my website. How did Roger figure out that somebody looked for that page? Do I need to worry about 404 errors that are the result of user mistakes, instead of actual bad links?

Can someone explain to me why OSE shows two different numbers for Linking Root Domains in the header and in the results area?
See Photo Below. 271 in the header, 500 plus in the results section. I just want an accurate number to chart my progress from here on out. Majestic numbers seem inflated too much. Google Webmaster Tools too. g58HX.png

Competitive analysis of inbound links
I am trying to figure out how to best use SeoMoz tools to do some competitive analysis of inbound links. With the site explorer tool I can "compare Link Metrics" I see that a competitor is beating me on External Followed Links and Total Linking Root domains. I want to dig further into this data and see how these are distributed. What I am really after is which root domains are sending them the most links. Knowing that 20k of their links are coming from 5 specific root urls would be great to know. Is there anywhere that I can see this data. Ideal column headers would be: Linking Root Domain of Followed Links (from this root domain) Linking Domain Authority The ability to drill down from there into specific links would be mind blowing. Is there any way to browse this type of data in SeoMoz?

Scrolling in OSE
Hi Guys, Is anyone else having issues when scrolling in OSE remembering what the column headers are? Just throwing out a suggestion for the next OSE update, could the column headers remain at the top of the links table when scrolling? This would be very useful especially on the top pages table which now has many columns! Thanks guys! Danni

Over 90% of anchor text tends to be brand-name on OSE link profiles. Why?
I reported this as a bug in OSE, because often I explore these links and find that the pages include both a brand-name link AND a regular keyword link, but for some reason OSE was only reporting the brand-name link... This led me to wonder how many links this occurred for, and therefore whether or not to trust the fact that the majority of the sites I ran OSE on returned at least (in most cases, more) than 90% brand-name links. I understand that brand-name links are amongst the most important to obtain, but that it's also important to get anchor text for keywords to build a varied profile. Given this apparent flaw in OSE, is it wrong - in the case of very successful sites - to take this ~90% as being anywhere near the correct percentage of brand-name links that I should be aiming for as a proportion of the total profile? Extra Credit :)... And this may help potentially help resolve the issue: does "Inbound Links" tab in OSE just report links to the Root Domain, or to that and every other page on the site?

Unanswered Questions
Hey SEOMoz I have been spending a bit of time in the Q&A of late and have noticed lots of questions never get answered. I also had a question of my own that I left open for ages and I figured it maybe a good idea to add some kind of email nag or on screen notification for people to close old questions. There are some that have had plenty of answers but that either never get closed & really, it takes away from the fun of participating if things are never closed off & searching shows the same old tired, answerd but not closed questions lingering around like a bad smell. 🙂 Not really a question, but a little tweak suggestion. 🙂 Cheers
