Multiple domains on same IP address, same niche but different locations.
-
I have a reseller web hosting account. I have more than 30 domains hosted on this account, and I have only one IP address. The websites are exactly similar in terms of niche but different locations, for example
plumberlondon.co.uk
plumberleeds.co.uk
plumbermanchester.co.ukI am using almost same link building method.
My question is, is it safe enough to be not penalised by Google?
Would appreciate your opinions.
Thanks

In my view, it's not a big problem to have these sites on the same server, as long as each site has unique content, and there isn't a huge amount of inter-linking between the sites. (in which case, 30 sites would sound a lot like a link network to me, which would risk all of your sites being de-indexed)
What is potentially a problem is making sure each site is truly unique. This means having unique content (including navigation and in some cases, unique templates - although some would argue this is a bit extreme) You say that the sites employ the same link building methods - does this mean they all have links from the exact same sources? Again, you could be stumbling into link network territory again... or Google may choose to place less value on those links.
It's a murky area, and you'll have to use your own analytics and judgement to tease the answers out of Google. I'd say your not in trouble just because of the shared IP, but my suspicion tells me your in a dangerous neighborhood.
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your SEO!

They're all plumbing related. It makes sense that they would link to each other.
The main thing is not to overdo your links. If you're overdoing it with your links it could draw a penalty. Sure, you could go for the whole "different class C" approach, but I find that to be slightly grey (if Google didn't exist, would you even consider doing your hosting like that?)
As to your external link building, why would it matter as long as the links are relevant? If I run drainsupply.com, it makes sense for me to link to all your plumber sites.
Just make sure your sites all have unique content. That's a far greater danger for you than link patterns.

Domain authority of competitor went up drastically
Hello Moz community, I’m following one of my competitors on Moz, and I noticed a huge bump in his domain authority overnight, going from 8 to 53. I figured there must have been a reason for that, so I checked their links overview, and noticed they got tons of new external followed links, followed linking domains and total linking domains (see screenshot 1). I clicked on the external followed links to see what they are, and I saw tons of redirect notices (see screenshot 2). The links are from google: maps.google.co.fr cse.google.co.fr images.google.co.fr And .fr is just an example, they have tons of other cctlds like .it .ca .es… the list goes on (see screenshot 3) Do you know where these redirect notices are from? It may be worth noting that some of these redirect to the http version of his website, while others redirect to the https version. I’m guessing this must be a bug on Moz’s end or some sort of SEO trick, but did his DA really go up that much, and does it positively affect his website or will Google penalize this? Thank you in advance for your answers! f9pZoJ3.png M0Z0s9x.png BNQryzR.png

.Org domain authority
When it comes to .org domain authority is it more important to be getting the link from a .org regardless of DA, or does their domain authority still have a big impact here? Thanks!

If i get link pointing to a specific page , will that link add up to the count of linking root domains too ?
If I create a fresh link pointing to specific page on my site, apart from adding a number to "page linking root domains" does it also add up to root domain linking ?

Multiple Links from High Ranking Site Vs. Links from Multiple Domains - What's More Important?
I understand it is important to get links from many quality domains. Currently, I do have links from top domains (PR, Trust) and it I can get more from (high rank) pages on these same domains. Would it be better to focus on expanding my reach (find additional domains to link from) or to continue to build links from the current domains I have a connection with? What is weighted more? I realize doing both is important, but trying to figure out how to best use my time. Thanks! David

Combining two domains
Hi guys, a friend of mine has two sites. They both have a fair few links pointing to them, so I think it would be a shame to lose/ignore one of them. Some of the links are low quality, from previous link building efforts, however at the moment I can't see any real penalisation from Google, so my guess is that it's currently ok... I'm aware that I'll have to remove some of the legacy low quality links soon. My question is what should I do? Will combining the two websites help? The main site is Gazebo Shop, but there's another exact match domain to consider... I'd like to keep the main website on the first URL, as that's the one I'm redeveloping now. Thanks for any help! Edit: I should add to my question: Should I redirect individual pages to my new category pages to pass Page Authorty/Rank?

Millions of links from one domain - unnatural?
I have a question: One of the sites that I work for has 3.1 million site-wide links (according to WM Tools) from one domain pointing to us. This domain has a Domain Authority of 93. We have (according to OSE) more than 3, 500 Domains linking to us. We have a Domain Authority of 88. In other words, one of those 3,500 domains is highly reputable, and is sending us 3.1 million site-wide links. This represents 60% of all the links pointing to us (again according to WMTools). Is this something to be worried about? Or delighted about? Would you consider it an unnatural link profile?
