Status of Ajax and SEO? Changing navigation from plain HTML to AJAX.

We will change an old school HTML drop down navigation for an AJAX drop down one.
What's your experience in regards to Google indexing AJAX?
I know that Google is now able to read more stuff than in the past, but I need some stories "from the trenches" if you're willing to share.

On one site I work on all of the content is loaded with AJAX. I've seen evidence that Google is indexing this text, because if I search for this AJAX content, Google is returning those pages on my site for which it appears on. There aren't many backlinks to these pages, and none that I've found with those phrases as anchor text. So if Google is finding this text out from somewhere else, I can't figure it out.
I'd still rather have our content loaded normally, but I wasn't given a choice, so I'm glad to see it's working. I'd think long and hard before setting up HTML snapshots as given here: https://developers.google.com/webmasters/ajax-crawling/, as doing so would be a considerable amount of work, especially considering how far Google has already come with indexing AJAX content.

Tags - Good or bad for SEO
We are getting Moz errors for duplicate content because tag pages share the same blog posts. Is there any way to fix this? Are these errors bad for SEO, or can I simply disregard these and ignore them? We are also getting Moz errors for missing descriptions on tag pages. I am unsure how to fix these errors, as we do not actually have pages for these on our WordPress site where we are able to put in a description. I have heard that having tags can be good for SEO? Geo-targeted content and SEO?
I am wondering, what effect does geo-targeted "cookie cutter" content have on SEO. For example, one might have a list of "Top US Comedians", which appears as "Top UK Comedians" for users from the United Kingdom. The data would be populated with information from a database in both cases, but would be completely different for each region, with the exception of a few words. Is this essentially giving Google's (US-based) crawler different content to users? I know that plenty of sites do it, but is it legitimate? Would it be better to redirect to a unique page, based on location, rather than change the content of one static page? I know what the logical SEO answer is here, but even some of the big players use the "wrong" tactic. I am very interested to hear your thoughts.

How long does it take for Google to see Changes to a site?
Hi, I have a low PR site (PR 1) that I am starting to work on. Ingeneral when you make changes to my site how long would it take Google to recognize and index those changes? The reason I am wondering is because the site I am working on had a lot of duplicate content (around 700 pages), I got rid of it all, but I wasn't sure how long it would take Google to spider all these pages and re-index them since the site is low PR. Do you ever forget the SEO basics?
We all get a little sloppy at times. Just yesterday , someone pointed out that I accidentally blocked the robots from one of our primary pages, because it was being included in a wildcard match on one of the disallow commands in robots.txt.
