Landing Page Conversion Rates

I had a client claiming his industry (replacement home windows) conversion rate was around 15% based on his research. In my research i could find nothing of the sort, and really couldn't find a single place that provided this type of information. Anyone out there have some advice on where to research industry conversion rates (averages) or tools/thought processes to explore?

Then I suppose what the query was that brought them to that landing page. If someone searches for "replace my windows" or "I need new windows" and ends up on a page offering a free consultation (and assuming the company looks credible, etc) then I can imagine a pretty high conversion rate. 15% seems believable. Maybe even higher if it's just email address in exchange for product info for products related to the initial query. But again, no one is going to share this kind of data because if it's really good it will attract new competitors and no one wants to invite competition...

For this case specifically it was two different sign ups: One for an in home consultation, and the other to download product information. The first one asked for a lot more personal information while the second one only asked for name/email.

Depends on what you consider a 'conversion'. Is entering an email address to sign up for a free newsletter a 'conversion'? Or does it have to be a revenue producing event? The first will have a much higher rate than the 2nd, obviously.
One thing I can tell you (since I have seen the numbers for a dozen different companies that do this) is the conversion rate from a 2-week or 30-day free trial to a paying user of the service averages around 50%. ie half the people who take a free trial of a service will end up paying for that service. The numbers range from 40% to 60%. It'll be higher if you ask for more info up front (because you end up filtering out the lookyloos who aren't serious if you ask for more info at the start of the free trial).
What I do not have great data for is the conversion rate from first-time-visitor to free-trial (or revenue-event). I have anecdotes that tell me it's low single-digits (2% to 5%). If you're talking about a 15% conversion rate from first-time-visitor to revenue-event then that seems high (unless you're selling Lady Gaga concert tickets or something). Those numbers are usually very proprietary and I'd be surprised (and interested in) if you find any solid data on them...

Any possibility to track goal completions/conversions at a sub-page (non-landing page) level in Google Analytics?
We’re promoting our sub-page it's http://www.flightcentre.ca/flights/london on our homepage under the slideshow so I need to see how many people went to the homepage, then went to this page, and then converted (enquired or booked.) What I can’t see is how many people did that. I know how to look up how many people landed on that page and then converted, but I need to know how many people navigated there and then converted. Is that possible? I can only see Goal Completions if I look at that page as a landing page, but that only presents a very slim view of the total visits when compared to those pages generally. Any way to check the entire behavior or activities happening through this page i.e. /flights/london?

What is the Average Pogo Rate?
I've created a custom Google Segment which you can find here. Segment Settings: Organic Traffic Sessions with 1 visit. Sessions with less than 15 seconds time on site. To calculate Pogo rate then I looked at Pogo vs. Total organic and got the percentage of Pogo sessions. I tested a group of 20 sites and got 53% on average with a high of 87% and a low of 33%. What do you get? Any interesting insights?

Large changes in conversions with consistent traffic
Hi Everyone, I am looking for some help, I have just taken over a campaign for a client and we are seeing huge changes in conversion rates overnight. The client is selling a health product and is consistently getting around 1-2k visitors per day. We are getting about 6% of the traffic to the buy page consistently. However, we have found that one day the order process may convert 1/20 of these visitors and another day it could be 1/80. We are only talking about 5-20 sales per day, but I am really confused why one day it can convert so well and another so poorly. The traffic being sent is the same and all other factors are the same (no split testing). There seems to be no logic, the day of the week does not seem to impact, it almost seems random. If anybody has any recommended places to look that would be very helpful as at the moment I am at a loss. Example: Sunday 15th Visitors: 1,279

Is putting an email address in the page title a good idea?
As our Contact Us page title was a little short I added in sales@example.com So "Contact us : Sales@example.com" We don't get a lot of spam and it hasn't noticeable increased since we did this. Tynt suggests that a reasonable number of people have copied and pasted the email - presumably to contact us Is it worth experimenting with further or a waste of time?

How To Rank Landing Pages In The SERPs
Hi, am hoping someone can give me a little advice.. We have created an Ebook for a client, which we will ‘hide’ behind a landing page for the purpose of collecting email addresses in return for a link to the Ebook. We are thinking of using Unbounce landing pages, integrated with Mailchimp. The problem however is that I’m assuming it will not be possible for Unbounce landing pages to rank well in the SERPs.. which is essential. The obvious solution would be to write a blog post detailing the contents of the Ebook, and then to ‘SEO’ this post.. this however will not provide a positive user experience as below; Visitor lands on blog post Visitor then has to click through to Ubounce landing page (very similar content) Visitor completes form to download Ebook My question is; What’s the best way to rank a direct landing page in the SERP’s, whilst providing the best possible user experience (less steps)? Rich Snippets on service pages and how to aggregate?
Question about rich snippets.. I want to showcase reviews of the SERVICE's offered but I am not sure if I should include them on the service page, a review page or both. For example, we offer snow plowing and lawn care services and each service has its own page. I have reviews for both services under the my "testimonials" page. So, a couple questions. 1 - Should I pace a single review marked up on each service page? 2 - Does the review need to be a google review or can I use reviews from other sites? If not, do I need to notate that somehow using the schema vocabulary? Example, I have a 5 star review from thumbtrackDOTcom, is it ok to mark up the review and include a nofollow link? (No follow because thumbtrack is actually a competitor.) 3 - When I looked into creating an aggregate rich snippet I got confused / concerned. Is it ok to list multiple services as a product? Conversion Rate - site feedback
Hi We gave a website a bit of a facelift last nov with the aim of increasing its position within Search Engines and getting it to begin making sales. The site: www.funkyfootstools.com is now moving in the right direction for its keyphrases, footstools and ottomans although it still needs some work. The issue I have is that from the visitors that come to the site, the stats prove they have a look around, they are just not purchasing - I am not sure if this is because of the layout, ie. usability or if there is something else. Any ideas & feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Carl

Contact page lead optimization
Hi, I have a client whose contact page is the second most visited after the home page. However, there is a 93.65% abandonment rate on the contact page. This could be for a number of reasons: There is a phone number on the page, so people may call the firm There is a Google Map on the page, so people may get directions The top next pages are: Exiting the site (about 50%) Returning to the home page Going to the About the Company page Going to the Distributors page (the company is a manufacturer) What is the best way to analyze the performance of this page?
