Websites First Crawl - Over 2 Hour Suggested Wait
-
Hello SEOMoz!
We recently signed up for a free trial and on the pro dashboard it states the following.
"To get you started quickly Roger is crawling up to 250 pages on your site. You should see these results within two hours. The full crawl will complete within 7 days."
It's been nearly 24 hours and we see no results under Crawl Diagnostics however we do under rankings.
Is this normal?
Thanks

Thanks!
Last time I checked the robots.txt was there. Anyway I have rcreated this.
Will try creating a new campaign and seeing how long it takes.
Update: worked fine after around 10 minutes crawl!

Hi Louis,
You are right, the first starter crawl should be complete within the first couple of hours. One reason it might take longer than normal is if the SEOmoz crawler, rogerbot, has trouble crawling your site.
I took a look inside our system and it appears the website associated with your campaign doesn't have a robots.txt file. Because the SEOmoz crawler is extra polite about crawling, whenever it doesn't find a robots.txt file, this can prevent it from crawling at all.
To fix this, create a text file called "robots.txt" and with the following information in it, and place it at the root directory of your site.
User-agent: *
Disallow:Read more about robots.txt here: http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/robotstxt
Unfortunately, it may be too late to add this to fix your starter crawl. So here are some things you can try:
- After adding the robots.txt file, try creating another (duplicate) campaign and seeing if that works.
- Or wait until your next crawl
- Contact the help team at help@seomoz.org
Hope this helps! Best of luck with your SEO.

Louis, I think it is just a standard message, so don't worry, I doubt it will take that long.
I just started one on a 30 page site, so I expect it will show results tomorrow.

So this means I will not get any data under crawl diagnostics for a week?
Why does it not give results for up to 250 pages as stated? The domain I selected for crawling has only 20 or so pages.
-
The full crawl diagnostics and rank reports are only generated once per week. So, I would give it at least 7 days before you see full data reported in your new campaign.

Crawl Diagnostics - Historical Summary
As we've been fixing errors on our website, the crawl diagnostic graphs have been showing great results (top left to bottom right for errors). The problem is the graphs themselves aren't very pretty. I can't use them in my internal reports (all internal reports are standardised colours/formats). Is there anyway of exporting the top level summary with historic data so the graphs can be recreated in company colours? I don't want the detailed CSV breakdown of what errors occurred, but rather than on X date there were Y errors, the next month Z errors and so forth. The data must already be in the SEOMoz system in order to create the graphs themselves - I was hoping this can be made available to us if it isn't already? Does anyone know if there is already a way of doing this? I've tried to 'inspect element' and find the underlying data in the source code but to no avail, and can't see any exports that would do this. Thanks in advance Dean

Crawl Diagnostics Error Spike
With the last crawl update to one of my sites there was a huge spike in errors reported. The errors jumped by 16,659 -- majority of which are under the duplicate title and duplicate content category. When I look at the specific issues it seems that the crawler is crawling a ton of blank pages on the sites blog through pagination. The odd thing is that the site has not been updated in a while and prior to this crawl on Jun 4th there were no reports of these blank pages. Is this something that can be an error on the crawler side of things? Any suggestions on next steps would be greatly appreciated. I'm adding an image of the error spike Xovep.jpg?1 Xovep.jpg?1

SEOMoz Crawling Only 1 Page
I entered a new site into my dashboard 2 days ago - everything looked kosher, there were a few hundred pages crawled and a whole bunch of errors. I came back this morning to start work on the site and SEOMoz has crawled the site again, this time returning only 1 page and 0 errors. I haven't even logged in to the site since the first crawl, so I couldn't have broken anything. Has anyone seen this before?

Crawl Diagnostics Summary
Sorry if I am not asking in the right place. On Crawl Diagnostics Summary it says this right..?? : "To get you started quickly Roger is crawling up to 250 pages on your site. You should see these results within two hours. The full crawl will complete within 7 days.". so it's passed a day and it still doesn't show nothing. It says "Processing Crawl Data for 358 pages" How much should i wait??

Campaign Not Crawling
I set up my first 5 campaigns and one is not crawling beyond one-page. It's been over 48 hours. This site has nearly 3.500 pages the others much less, however, this shouldn't make any difference. I searched for the problem and couldn't find it so I hope this question isn't redundant. Comments and advice would be appreciated.
