I have been doing a little bit of testing in regards to blog commenting on high authority blogs that no follow comments. The comments have all been manual and added value to the blog. I have noticed quite a big jump in rankings for some keywords. I was wondering if anyone else has a view on the effectiveness of these links when combined with other link building methods?

It is from 2009 but one of the mozzers did link to it recenty when asked about nofollows so I would imagine it's still valid.

Google invests millions into it's algorithm. If you're posting actual useful, relevant stuff which doesn't set off too many spam flags - It'll notice.

Google claims that nofollow links do not pass link juice - no matter what. If your tests show otherwise then Google is a liar (or they just don't know how they work internally). To my knowledge proper blog commenting work brings secondary value to a direct link from the page you're commenting on (scraped content links which exclude nofollow, citations, mentions, branding, networking...etc).

Writing useful comments on well trusted blogs obviously give you some sort of juice, even when the link are nofollow. Google surely recognize a link in a blog comment, I don't think he cares much about the rel attribute anymore, much more about the blog metrics and the comment quality.

Moving blogs to different domain
Hey guys, We currently have some blogs on one of our pages (fraserisland.com.au) and we are launching a complete rebranding of our sites. We want to move the blogs from fraserisland.com.au to the new parent page of travelfreedom.com.au (but still link it to fraserisland.com.au), however I don't know what affect this will have on the ranking of the blogs. The biggest thing I'm worried about is that the domain will be completely different, and not a sub domain, but I'm not sure what impact this will have on the effectiveness of SEO on the blog. Hi Everyone says quality backlinks increase ranking of your website. Can you please suggest a list of good websites and blogs from where I can get quality backlinks and how to do that. I have one person at my disposal full time to do manual commenting or any manual tasks for getting backlinks but how should i approach this problem (of getting backlinks). Where do I start. Reposting my articles on other blogs - good or bad?
Hi there! Our blog is full of really good articles on consumer finance topics. Recently we established contact with some local media and even government agencies who said they will be happy to repost our articles on their sites. Question: is it ok to repost our articles as they are and link back to us, or shall we rewrite them to make them 100% original? The media doesn't insist on original content, but I'd like to get SEO benefit from it (the sites are really good). If original content gives us more SEO value, we're happy to do it Please advise. P.S. Using rel=canonicals is not an option (it's government websites and some old school media - they are very not tech savvy).

What is the purpose of submitting your blog articles to directories?
I was wondering what the purpose of submitting your blog articles to directories are. Doesn't it require enough "points" or "+1's" for it to become a "do-follow" link? People on the forum talk about automating directory submission, can anyone recommend a good software for this? I've been hearing that Google Penalizes you for article submission because it looks like spam?

I wanna buy dofollow comments, can be there any negative effects? I understand that is a kind of a black hat seo, but i saw many sites who used this type of service and get boosted in the search engine ranking.
