Duplicate titles / canonical / Drupal
-
I have a site where there are several duplicate titles, looks like mainly based on a parameterized vs. non-parameterized version of the page. I have what appears to be a proper canonical tag, but webmaster still complains of both duplicate titles & meta descriptions. A good example (taken out of webmaster report for http://igottadrive.com) is:
/driving-tips/mirror-setup-and-use
/driving-tips/mirror-setup-and-use?inline=true
If I look at the page (in either case) there appears to be a correct canonical tag pointing to the base case. However, for some reason google is either ignoring the canonical or its not properly done.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

uwaim, what happens when you disable Page Titles and set the titles in Metatag? Metatag handles page titles, so the two modules may be stepping on each other.
Also, can you confirm the latest versions of your metatag module? They've been rolling commits, so confirm you have the latest.

The site runs on Drupal 7 and the specific modules are:
-
Page Title 7.x-2.5
-
Meta Tags, 7.x-1.0-alpha4
-
Global Redirect, 7.x-1.4
The dup pages (with & without parameters) seem to have correct canonical tags pointing to the basic page without parameters.

Hello ,
Can you tell us what SEO module do you have installed ?
Basics are :The Page Title modue
http://drupal.org/project/page_title
The Meta tags module ( nodewords)
http://drupal.org/project/nodeword
And if its not already done , Global redirect ( for duplicate content ).
Once you come back with more info i might be able to help.

Home Page .index.htm and .com Duplicate Page Content/Title
I have been whittling away at the duplicate content on my clients' sites, thanks to SEOmoz's pro report, and have been getting push back from the account manager at register.com (the site was built here and the owner doesn't want to move it). He says these are the exact same page and he can't access one to redirect to the other. Any suggestions? The SEOmoz report says there is duplicate content on both these urls: Durango Mountain Biking | Durango Mountain Resort - Cascade Village http://www.cascadevillagehotel.com/index.htm Durango Mountain Biking | Durango Mountain Resort - Cascade Village http://www.cascadevillagehotel.com/ Your help is greatly appreciated! Drupal Question
So on our site we have a plugin for our fan gallery. The issue is that I am getting a lot of duplication errors and it's saying the URL is too long and all the errors are coming from the Fan Gallery, which has over 8,000 errors. It seems to be pulling a long form query URL that has over 100 characters. You can't physically see it on the site, but the crawlers can. Anyway I'm trying to figure out a fix for this. One method would be to just stop those pages from being crawled, but I would hate to do that as the fan gallery for us would be a great source of links and content. So I'm wondering if anyone else has had an issue with these types of plugins before where the user can upload a photo or do a video embed and then it submits to the site. If you have a better method please let me know. I usually work on E-comm platforms so my experience with drupal is limited.

How can we fix duplicate title tags like these being reported in GWT?
Hi all, I posted this in the GWT Forum on Monday and still no answers so I will try here. Our URL is http://www.ccisolutions.com
Technical SEO | | danatanseo
We have over 200 pages on our site being flagged by GWT as having
duplicate title tags. The majority of them look similar to this: Title: <a>JBL EON MusicMix 16 | Mixer | CCI Solutions</a> GWT is reporting these URLs to have all the same title: /StoreFront/product/R-JBL-MUSICMIX.prod/StoreFront/product/R-JBL-MUSICMIX.prod?Origin=Category/StoreFront/product/R-JBL-MUSICMIX.prod?Origin=Footer/StoreFront/product/R-JBL-MUSICMIX.prod?Origin=Header/StoreFront/product/R-JBL-MUSICMIX.prod?origin=../StoreFront/product/R-JBL-MUSICMIX.prod?origin=GoogleBase These are all the same page. There was a time when we used these origin codes, but we stopped using them over a year ago. We also added canonical tags to every page to prevent us from having duplicate content issues. However, these origin codes are
still showing up in GWT. Is there anything we can do to fix this problem. Do we have a technical issue with our site code and the way Google is seeing our dynamic URLs? Any suggestions on how we can fix this problem? The same is true in our report for Meta descriptions. Thanks
you,

Having both <title>and <meta name="title"...> on a web page?</title>
Hi All, Client of mine using reversed Meta Tags format in their website and Honestly i never saw such Meta Tags formats. In my opinion having 2 Title tags and wrong reversed description tag is not correct and the needs to be removed, and other tags need to be changed, too But they said that it probably doesn't make a difference because they don't think it affects search engine results and won't remove it just based on opinion. Because weird thing is Search Engines are apparently able to index them. So should i persist on correcting them or just hope for the best and ignore it?!?!?! Thanks!

Duplicate titles OK if page don't need to rank well?
I know It is not a good idea to have duplicate titles across a website on pages as Google does not like this. Is it ok to have duplicate titles on pages that aren't being optimised with SERP's in mind? or could this have a negative effect on the pages that are being optimised?
