Links to International Versions of the same site
-
Hi, our clients' .com site has a link in the header to the .com.au version of their site and vice versa. In effect this creates a reciprocal link on each page. Should we prevent the robots from crawling this link? I don't think a nofollow will suffice.

Hi Irving, so a obfuscated javascript link is ok by Google?
-
Since you said it's in the header i am assuming it's global so basically every page of the .com is linking to the .com.au and vice versa.
What's the reason for doing this?
I would have the lesser site link to the stronger site so that you're passing PR to the more important site.
If you do nofollows you're just throwing away a lot of PR. You can create an obfuscated javascript link that googlebot won't crawl, you'll save your PR and also won't get penalized for trying to push rank with two sites you clearly own which is against googles guidelines.

Does the link benefit the users of the websites? If not does it need to be there at all? You could link to them on another page on your website, a contact us/about us for example, alongside an explanation of the international nature of the business - the link is then within context rather than stuck in a header.
I wouldn't bother nofollowing or blocking bots as I doubt you'd get penalised for the links - if you haven't already just do your best to make sure that the .com is not competing with the .com.au in Australia, I'd be wary of duplicate content on two English versions of a website.

Am I better off with ten links from one site or one link from ten sites?
I am writing a series of linked-back articles for a highly-ranked web publisher, but wonder if I'd be better off sharing the articles across different sites. My goal is to grow our domain authority and SEO rankings.

Anchor Text, best practice for internal links?
Hi, We have a news article on our site that describes currents status/news concerning 2 "major" topics for our business. Now we also have separate pages dedicated to these topics and try to target links/traffic here. This news article has obtained a few "natural external links", but to my question: Within the news article we mention these two keywords naturally about 10 times each. Should we "anchor text" -link each of these mentions to it´s dedicated/in depth -page? Or perhaps only the first mention? Or not at all and perhaps instead put text at the bottom of the article pointing/explaining where they can find more info on each subject at our site? Thanks!

Menus and Internal Link Volume Guidelines
Hi guys. I am currently working on a site with a large menu structure. In the navigation there are lots of submenus amounting to over 100 links in total. When i have been auditing the site i am getting the notification to keep internal links below 100 - but the everything on there i do need - have trimmed down as much as possible but its all very necessary and logical for the end user. Is this 100 internal link guideline something to be concerned about in this situation? If so is there any way to accommodate a larger menu structure whilst still appeasing these guidelines. Any help is much appreciated, thank you 🙂 Kieran

Link Detox and Link Removal
I have a question about which links to remove after running a link detox from Link Research Tools. First a little back story. I had had an SEO company link building for one of the websites I own. But I have recently stopped working with them. In the last month my rankings have near dropped off the charts. I have just recently gotten access to Google webmaster tools and noticed an unnatural link warning from back in March. So yesterday I ran link detox and it reported 19 toxic links, 120 suspicious links, and 24 healthy links. It's rather obvious that I should remove all of the toxic links. They all from sites that have been deindexed by google. But my question is a about the suspicious links. What should my criteria be for removing them? Am I better off removing them all and leaving my site with only 24 healthy links or should I personally comb through them and remove only the worst of the worst so that I leave my site with a few more links? I'd really like to get the site ready to resubmit to google as soon as I can. Thoughts? yyCOf.png

Mobile sites link strategies
Hi, I am working for a large mobil-site (+200.000 pages), to improve their SEO, and am trying to figure out the best way to set up a linkbuilding strategy for the site. The urls are very dynamic and often rather long so deep linking is difficult. Any input/ideas would be welcome 🙂 Jens Peter
