Blog Comments
-
We all get them ... spam blog comments. People do it to get link value back to their site.
Recently, someone approached me to do this for our site but on niche sites that are related to our content and to provide good valueable comments within a blog post of about 100 words each, and genuinely try to engage. They also were talking about finding blogs that have "follow" links in their comments space, since most do not.
I still declined it because it is somewhat 'grey-hat' rather than 'white-hat' linking, and we want to be above-board on everything.
Although we personally declined this approach, I'm curious your thoughts though on whether gaining links from blog comments from related, niche sites is a good idea.

Thanks for your response. I think that makes a lot of sense.

I have to say that a well posted comment with some meaning has driven traffic to my personal blog. Every once and a while I'll see a strange referrer and it's due to a random blog comment I posted. Has it made a huge impact? Not really. Could it be outsourced? Probably, if done by a professional that will take the time to make the comment meaningful. You won't find a cheap way to outsource a true comment though.

I appreciate the input.
Thanks,

Commenting on blogs is a great tactic for gaining credibility in your industry. The key is your comment has to be so awesome that people read it and decide to click-through on your name, only to find more content on your site that is so awesome they are become genuinely interested.
If you are commenting to get a link, you are wasting your time. If you are commenting because you have something interesting to say about the topic of the post, by all means do it. Being the only person to comment on a blog that no one reads isn't going to get you very far. Find out where the conversations are taking place and contribute to them.
I do not think it is something you should outsource.
Also, I do not think you should be phishing for Thumbs up on your questions. People may think you are not being sincere in asking your question and instead trying to game the thumbing system.

What Should be the URL of third party blog for my website
Hi All, What Should be the URL of third party blog for my website. Lets say if i have a website xyz.com (which provide pest control services in New York City) and I want to create third party blogs on platforms like blogspot, weebly etc so should i create the blog url as xyz.blogspot.com or i can use a keyword in the blog URL such as pestcontrolnyc.blogspot.com? Which URL would be the best as per Google's guidelines. Note: I have already have a blog within the domain as xyz.com/blog/ and i do weekly posting on this blog. But at the same time i want to create 1-2 third party blogs to get some backlinks from other sources.

I am getting links on people's wordpress blogs but are not showing up on the just discovered tool. Is it true that wordpress links are no-follow links that do give off any link-juice?
A blogger told me that "wordpress.com does not allow blogs to show advertisements or use links to sites that sell merchandise of any kind" is this true? Am i wasting my outreach time trying to get links from wordpress operated blogs?

Pr4 domain backlink from a blog post
I'm about to do a guest blog post on a pr4 domain. Will I be getting an actual pr4 backlink? I'm thinking since it's technically not going to be on the homepage forever since it's just a blog post and also a blog post has it's on page once you click on it I'm not going to get a pr4 backlink. Correct?

Website/blog list to get quality backlinks?
Hi Everyone says quality backlinks increase ranking of your website. Can you please suggest a list of good websites and blogs from where I can get quality backlinks and how to do that. I have one person at my disposal full time to do manual commenting or any manual tasks for getting backlinks but how should i approach this problem (of getting backlinks). Where do I start. For information, my website provides online services (its an ecommerce site) and also has a blog in subdirectory. refer to www.geekwik.com www.geekwik.com/blog Would like to become top ranker on search for these services (eg 'logo design services', 'website programming', 'content writing', 'hire virtual assistant' etc) Also anyone interested to become our SEO consultant or SEO service provider (of course paid) is most welcome 🙂 Thanks in Advance!

Guest blogging on a "network" of sites. Good or BAD?
Hi guys! We have the opportunity to guest blog on a network of sites. Basically, this is a syndicated network of sports blogs (around 200) that all link to each other. They own and operate a blog for each major sports franchise. They each average a DA around 60, but almost all of their link equity comes from blogs they own and operate.... My question is this, should we take the opportunity to create editorial content with links back to our site. This would not be paid side or footer links, but real content relevant to their blog and our industry. On a side note; All of these site have a very decent DA and show up well in Google... Thanks for any advice!!!

Is there a tool available to identify whether you already have a link for a specific blog/website?
Hi there, There are a couple of us in the office that are involved in link building - and sometimes it's difficult to keep track of where everybody is trying to build links. Does anybody know if there is a tool available where users can input both website addresses to check whether you already have a link from the desired website? Thanks in advance for your help.

No-Follow links on clients blog?
I have a client who has a blog with a side bar on each page, in the sidebar there are various links to the site, as well as links to some of his partner sites. I was looking at the recently updated open site explorer, and noticing that their domain authority is way down, a good amount below their competitors as well. The total links compared to the linking root domains is ~3000 to 200. So my question is 1. How can I gain on the domain authority front? (more diverse links?) And if so, 2. Should I no-follow the links on their blog so they don't have hundreds of pages with the same links (most internal) on there site Thanks,
