Removing some of the indexed pages from my website

I am planning to remove some of the webpages from my website and these webpages are already indexed with search engine. Is there any way by which I need to inform search engine that these pages are no more available.

It is a good point, you can 301 redirect them, but this is only valid if they have links. you can only 301 redirect requests. If they have links then it may be a good idea to leave the pages in place or reuse the same url with simular content.

Well there are several things you can do:
Leave it as it is: and Google will re-crawl the site and eventually remove the pages from the search engine.
The SEO way: It will be good if you put 301 redirection to relevant pages instead of a 404 page, so that user may find a reason to stay on your website. Juice of that deleted page will also be shifted to new page and it is quite possible that your new page appear to rank better and more visible in SERPs.
Update the sitemap: Another good way is to update the .xml sitemap and update in GWT to let Google know what the status of the current website is.
And if you want to kick them out on urgent basis, then the formula is to use the URL Removal Request in GWT and your URLs will be removed within the next 24 hours.

No, they will work that out themself. when they crawl, they will get a 404 status code, that will tell them what they need to know.
You can go to GWMT and remove them yourself if you really need them gone in a hurry, but i would not bother,, give it a few weeks and it will all be sorted

Help Center/Knowledgebase effects on SEO: Is it worth my time fixing technical issues on no-indexed subdomain pages?
We're a SaaS company and have a pretty extensive help center resource on a subdomain (help.domain.com). This has been set up and managed over a few years by someone with no knowledge of SEO, meaning technical things like 404 links, bad redirects and http/https mixes have not been paid attention to. Every page on this subdomain is set to NOT be indexed in search engines, but we do sometimes link to help pages from indexable posts on the main domain. After spending time fixing problems on our main website, our site audits now flag almost solely errors and issues on these non-indexable help center pages every week. So my question is: is it worth my time fixing technical issues on a help center subdomain that has all its pages non-indexable in search engines? I don't manage this section of the site, and so getting fixes done is a laborious process that requires going through someone else - something I'd rather only do if necessary.

Any idea why pages are not being indexed?
Hi Everyone, One section on our website is not being indexed. The product pages are, but not some of the subcategories. These are very old pages, so thought it was strange. Here is an example one one: https://www.moregems.com/loose-cut-gemstones/prasiolite-loose-gemstones.html If you take a chunk of text, it is not found in Google. No issues in Bing/Yahoo, only Google. You think it takes a submission to Search Console? Jeff

23,000 pages indexed, I think bad
Thank you Thank you Moz People!! I have a successful vacation rental company that has terrible seo but getting better. When I first ran Moz crawler and page grader, I had 35,000 errors and all f's.... tons of problem with duplicate page content and titles because not being consistent with page names... mainly capitalization and also rel canonical errors... with that said, I have now maybe 2 or 3 errors from time to time, but I fix every other day. Problem Maybe My site map shows in Google Webmaster submitted 1155

1541 indexed But google crawl shows 23,000 pages probably because of duplicate errors or possibly database driven url parameters... How bad is this and how do I get this to be accurate, I have seen google remove tool but I do not think this is right? 2) I have hired a full time content writer and I hope this works My site in google was just domain.com but I had put a 301 in to www.domain.com becauses www. had a page authority where the domain.com did not. How to remove all sandbox test site link indexed by google?
When develop site, I have a test domain is sandbox.abc.com, this site contents are same as abc.com. But, now I search site:sandbox.abc.com and aware of content duplicate with main site abc.com My question is how to remove all this link from goolge. p/s: I have just add robots.txt to sandbox and disallow all pages. Drastic increase of indexed pages correlated to rankings loss?
Our ecommerce website has had a drastic increase in indexed pages, and equal loss of Google organic traffic. After 10/1 the number of indexed pages jumped from 240k to 5.7 million by the end of the year, according to GWT. Coincidentally, the sitemap tops at 14,192 pages, with 13,324 indexed. Organic traffic on some top keyphrases began declining by half after 10/26 and ranking (previously placing in the top 5 spots) has dropped to the fifth page of results. This website does produce session id's (/c=) so we been blocking /c=/ in the robots.txt file. We also have a rel=canonical on all pages pointing at the correct url. With all of this in place, traffic hasn't recovered. Is there a correlation between this spike of indexed pages and the lost keyword ranking? Any advice to investigate and correct this further would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Best way to handle indexed pages you don't want indexed
We've had a lot of pages indexed by google which we didn't want indexed. They relate to a ajax category filter module that works ok for front end customers but under the bonnet google has been following all of the links. I've put a rule in the robots.txt file to stop google from following any dynamic pages (with a ?) and also any ajax pages but the pages are still indexed on google. At the moment there is over 5000 pages which have been indexed which I don't want on there and I'm worried is causing issues with my rankings. The number of pages indexed on Bing DROPPED significantly.
I haven't signed in to bing webmaster tool for a while. and I found that Bing is not indexing my site properly all of a sudden. IT DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY Any idea why it is behaving this way? (please check the attachment) INg1o.png

Discrepency between # of pages and # of pages indexed
Here is some background: The site in question has approximately 10,000 pages and Google Webmaster shows that 10,000 urls(pages were submitted) 2) Only 5,500 pages appear in the Google index 3) Webmaster shows that approximately 200 pages could not be crawled for various reasons 4) SEOMOZ shows about 1,000 pages that have long URL's or Page Titles (which we are correcting) 5) No other errors are being reported in either Webmaster or SEO MOZ 6) This is a new site launched six weeks ago. Within two weeks of launching, Google had indexed all 10,000 pages and showed 9,800 in the index but over the last few weeks, the number of pages in the index kept dropping until it reached 5,500 where it has been stable for two weeks. Any ideas of what the issue might be? Also, is there a way to download all of the pages that are being included in that index as this might help troubleshoot?
