Tracking Multiple Top Level Domains in GA
-
Hi,
I am setting up Google Analytics for www.example.co.uk and www.example.ie
Is this as simple as just adding GA tracking code 'track Multiple top-level domains'? With this method how can I distinguish between each site's incoming traffic?
Do filters needed to be created?
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
If you want both domains' traffic and data within one set of reports, you'll need to follow the instructions to 'track multiple top-level domains'. If you'd prefer to keep them separate, just install two unique codes for each.
If you choose to track both sites within one profile, you should follow these instructions to pass the full URL into your reports, rather than just the portion of the URL after the domain.

Optionally, after that you can 2 more profiles that only include traffic to one of the domains. This involves creating an advanced filter includes only traffic matching your chosen hostname (www.examples.co.uk for one, example.ie for the other).

We have the same set (separate tracking) up in Google Analaytics at Hurtigruten. I prefer it this way than having one GA script that covers 3 or 4 sub-domains or TLD's.
Yes, it's as easy as adding the GA script to each site, but as a back-up, I'd also create a global account in GA that tracks all sites, just for ease of use when scanning reports or the dashboard when on-the-go.
For detailed reporting, one GA script per site works very well. Filters are required more when you have one account that covers all sites.
However, we have 21 websites. If you only have two and do not plan to expand, then perhaps one script is fine.
Best of luck!

Change Phone Number Based on Traffic Source + Ping URL for Call Tracking Number
Hi Everyone, Is there a tool that can change the phone number on a web page based on the visitor source (i.e., direct, organic, paid, etc.)? I'd like to implement a solution like this with different call tracking numbers based on the visitor source. We use the Google suite for our analytics (GA, GTM, Google Data Studio, Google Optimize is also an option as well). - Also, is there a good call tracking service that will ping a URL each time the phone number is called so that we can track these calls as events in GA? The majority of our visitors use a desktop PC and dial in the number on the screen rather than clicking (tapping) on it from a mobile device. Thanks, Andy

Analytics conversion tracking?
Hi One of our clients has a hotel chain currently which currently uses an online booking system which is from a third party. We are keen to set up conversion tracking to track the number of bookings made however are we able to do this if the URL destination is not on the clients website? Or will it be a case of just tracking the number of people who click the link to go to the third party payment site? Kind Regards

Universal Analytics & Google Tag Manager - Track URLs that include hashes
Does anyone have any experience tracking URLs that include hashes (#) using Universal Analytics and Google Tag Manager? Can it be done using GTM's container for UA, using the "more settings" options? Or building another tag to work with the GTM UA container? The fallback I'm considering is implementing the UA code in GTM for every page as Custom HTML with the "ga('send', 'pageview', location.pathname + location.search + location.hash);" solution, rather than GTM's specialized UA tag. I'm not yet sure what problems may arise from that, if any. Thanks in advance.

Help w/ Google Event tracking w/ new Universal analytics.js
I want to implement Google event tracking after my visitors complete an estimate form. The form provides them an approximate range of costs based on their widget and widget amount. I have the php coding done, but I don't know JS and I need to send an event upon completion of the estimate form. However, all of Google's examples are button click events. How do I send the event upon completing a form if there is no separate landing page? If I have my Google analytics code on the page as well, would simply adding the following the completed estimate code work?

GA Goal Tracking for Proactive Chat
Hi all, Just wondering whether anyone knows how I'd be able to track Proactive Chats as a goal in Google Analytics? So when someone visits our site, and we proactively contact them by initiating a chat (rather than a reactive chat where the visitor initiates it). Thanks!
