What is the Best Premalink Structure and Why?
-
/%category%/%postname%/%post_id%/ - Used by Labnol(I'm not sure)
(or)
/%category%/%postname%/
(or)
/%postname%/Guys, Please make sure that you inform me "Why?".
Thank you all in advance.

Thank You for the comment.
If i use it, Each Post will get unique ID, so that while using this if i deindex categories and tags, all my urls would be unique.
Also, Let's say my competitor writes on a post called "iPhone Jailbreak" and if he uses the same title as me, then the post id which i have has a unique number, so that i'll stand out above them.
This is what i'm thinking. Am i Wrong?
If so, can you suggest me better and link me to few articles so that i can get some good knowledge.

I am not sure how you can stay away from duplicate content through this? I mean duplicate content is like two different URL contain the same content… so I am not sure how you can stay safe with this!
Well the reason why I would use direct post name is because, the URL will be short and easy! As far as the duplicate content is concern, WP is very nice with handling the duplicate content that automatically generate due to different tags and stuff.

I'm planning to use
/%category%/%postname%/%post_id%/
since it will avoid duplicate content, what do you suggest??
-
If I would be at your place I would have gone for the last option that is /%postname%/
My basic reasons to go for the last option is because it will help me keeping the URL short and SEO friendly.

What Website Visual Structure Software Do You Use?
I need to continually create website trees for our group of websites. I was wondering what software you guys use to create site structure/trees? I've used Powerpoint, Giffy and other diagram software but ideally I want to find something that crawls my site and spits out a diagram and also gives me the option to add none existing trees so I can show new purposed sections. Cheers, Gary

Changing URL structure in WP
Hi there. Currently we have our blog (WP site) URLs setup this way: companyname.com/post-name However, it's hard to analyze blog's (only) content in Google Analytics now (since all posts have their own unique URL). I want to change the structure to companyname.com**/blog**/post-name Question: Is there a way to do it safely? Will I have to 301 all the old links to the new structure or is there any other way to do the switch without losing any links? Thoughts or any (other) suggestions? 🙂 Thanks much! 🙂 `Helen

Site structure question
I'm doing a site that will have many many pages.

Now I have heard that you get more seo value if its a lower tear so for example: site.com/product rather than site.com/brand/subbrand/product Is this correct? Should I structure my site like this? site.com/product
site.com/brand points to site.com/product (so all products are on the sub root.) Does that make sense?0 -
Best way to avoid duplicate content issues here.
I am planning to write an article that refutes some claims made in another article. The original article is a 20 page pdf. What I plan to do is to take quotes from this PDF and then under each quote write my arguments for or against the quote. If I take direct quotes from the article, is Google likely to see this as duplicate content?
