How Google handles keywords and punctuation?

How does Google handle punctuation of keywords within its search?
If I have three keywords together, but on the site there is a question mark between them, does Google ignore the question mark? Or should I think of a new way of writing the content so Google likes it more?
And would this apply with articles (a, the, etc) and prepositions such as (in, of, etc.)?
Thanks a lot.

Hi Mark,
Great explanation. I was recently told that Google does ignore stop words and prepositions, but my internal research for clients shows that this is not the case. While I really don't want to give any examples, I can confirm that this is the case.
However, if the question is specific to having a question makr between keywords, the effect is relatively minimal. What I am trying to say is while you may want to reconsider the way you write for the future, this particular post should be fine IMO.

Reubenb- Google doesn't ignore the question mark or prepositions...
Here is a related post from a fellow moz'r who is big time.......Dr. Peter Myers. See below for his explanation:
"There was a time when Google simply ignored so-called "stop words", for processing efficiency, and so they two queries in your example were essentially the same. It looks like that has changed over time, though. See this post from 2008 by Bill Slawski (an expert on Google patents and technology):
http://www.seobythesea.com/2008/0...
...and a quick experiment someone did in 2010 that seems to confirm that:
http://www.dougwilliams.com/blog/...
In my experience, it's a bit specific to the query and competition. In many cases, the addition or subtractions of a stop word may not make much of a difference, but in your case it probably does. If the term you want to target is "Holidays in Ireland" and the Top 10 for that term seems different from the shorter term, I'd say to use "in". I'm seeing some differences between those two sets of Top 10 results (not huge, but some)."
*End of Dr. Peter Myers big time explanation.
I hope this information helps you. I find that all things being equal, you are better off writing complete sentences and putting emphasis on your "money keywords" and "secondary keywords" throughout your content = Better SEO results

Google Shopping tracking as organic traffic - help!
Hey guys, I have an eCommerce client who sometimes runs Google PLA and Google Shopping campaigns. However, we don't run his AdWords for him, just do his SEO. At the moment, the Shopping campaigns track as organic traffic within Analytics. And I can't see any way to change this! It's so infuriating. How do I change this? Thanks!

Google Analytics underreporting
I have a site selling items, I use paypal buttons and get a report using ipn back from paypal telling me when I have sold a item. I also have a Google analytics event setup on the button, and one on the confirmation page.
Reporting & Analytics | | AlanMosley
For example in the last few days I have sold over 10 items from the website, but have only 2 events from the button and none from the confirmation page. The confirmation page depends on the user getting redirected back from PayPal so I can see that being upper reported, but there is no way you can buy without clicking the button.
I have the chrome addon from google to debug your analytics code and it fires every time.
The figures seem to report only about 20% of events over a long period of time. If it was not working at all, I could assume I have not set things up correctly but this is not the case, I get a regular flow of events but at about 205 of sales.
I am very disappointed with GA, seems a waste of time. anyone else had the same expirence?0 -
Re-branding with Google Analytics
GM Mozzers, I apologize in advance if my description of this issue is confusing, but I'm doing my best here. Anyway, due to legal reasons, one of the publications I manage was forced to change their name. We set-up a 301 redirect from the previous domain and have also set-up an analytics profile for the new domain, however, as it stands, visits to the old domain outnumber those to the new domain 12:1. Is there anyway to set-up my analytics profile to the new URL so that this traffic is being attributed to the new domain and the new site, since, after all, it is a redirect. I hope that I explained this sufficiently. Any and all insight will be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Google Webmaster not accounting for internal links
Hi SEO gurus! All my websites in GWT show the website in question at the top of the "Links to your site", in the form of: Domains Total links my-site.com 1,000 third-party-1.com 500 third-party-2.com 300 third-party-3.com 200 etc.com 100 However, I have a specific account that suddenly (a few weeks back) disappeared its own link count: Domains Total links third-party-1.com 500 third-party-2.com 300 third-party-3.com 200 etc.com 100 Has this happened to any of you? Any ideas how to solve it? The website is www.gmvbodybuilding.com which you can see has plenty of properly formed links.
