Any SEO suggestions for my site?
-
Site in question: http://bit.ly/Lcspfp
Does anyone have any suggestions for any on-site SEO that would benefit my website?
Any recommendations, big or small are appreciated.

Another great resource to add to my list.
Already implemented some of the suggestions.

Didn't think about the Webmaster URL Parameters tool. I've gone ahead and sorted them out.
Looks like Google takes a while to update it though.
Checked out the rel-canonical for Magento and found out that Magento now supports this without the need of Yoasts plugin. Sorted that as well, thanks!

Whenever I see a Magento implementation I immediately refer people to Yoast's write-up on the subject. He's about the best you can find from an expertise perspective on SEO and Magento. And to get even more goodness, the Magento Forums are a place to spend some quality time and Magento specific SEO discussions.

Hi,
Your website is visually appealing, it has a good structure and it's easy to navigate.
Having said that, I would change a few things:
-
Product descriptions are not unique, you can find the same text in many other websites. You can expand on the manufacturers description or create your own (unique) product description.
-
It seems that you are not taking advantage of social media. I would incorporate Facebook, Google+ and other types of social media sharing buttons in each product page as well as in your homepage.
-
Your about us page is empty, you should correct that. I would also add some text to your homepage; talking about your company, the products you offer or why your customers should choose you.
-
I don't think you need to link that many times to your homepage, you have at least 4 links to the homepage from the homepage itself. "Shop Categories" doesn't really need to link to the homepage.
-
The keywords meta tag may not hurt, but Google doesn't give it any value. I would take it out.
-
Not really a problem, but you have tons of js files loading in your header, you could combine and optimize all in 1 file.
-
You sitemap lists many pages with priority of 1, and a "daily" change frequency. You might want to correct that.
I just took a short look at your website, and those are just a few things you can do to improve your site. You could also run promotions and post them on daily deals type of websites, run giveaways, etc. in order to attract traffic and links.

Looks like a Magento site. I notice in the Serps that you have a lot of duplicate content showing up because of the parameters on your URL's. Everything after a ? in a URL like this one:
http://theboardgamers.co.uk/fantasy-board-games.html**?dir=desc&order=age**
Add your site to Google Webmaster Tools and under URL parameters help them see to avoid things like ?dir and any other parameters. Usually they are pretty good at doing this automatically. I would also recommend adding the Magento extension called Yoast Rel Canonical. For a good explaination check this out:

This is just a quick glance item but I hope it helps.

Looking for an SEO Mentor
I do in-house marketing for a medium sized luxury architectural design firm. I have a good understanding of the moz platform and general SEO but would like to findsomeone to provide regular guidance and answer some specific questions regarding our SEO. Specifically, we want advising on keywords, blog content, and link building. Ideally we'd like to engage a consultant (remotely) on an hourly basis. We'v have had very poor experiences with big SEO firms so that’s definitely not something we’re looking for. Best,

Links from a penalised site.
Hey Mozzers, Recently we have had a series of agencies in to pitch for work, one group mentioned that due to our association with a possibly penalised product review website, any links and activity associated with the brand would hinder our SEO. We currently have a good rating, but we are now no longer pushing our customers to the site as we move to a new platform. The current link back from this website is also no-followed. Any thoughts on how this could impact us? And how the agencies determined the site was penalised and causing us problems. Cheers Tim

Subdomains + SEO
Hi everyone, So a little background - my company launched a new website (http://www.everyaction.com). The homepage is currently hosted on an amazon s3 bucket while the blog and landing pages are hosted within Hubspot. My question is - is that going to end up hurting our SEO in the long run? I've seen a much slower uptick in search engine traffic than I'm used to seeing when launching new sites and I'm wondering if that's because people are sharing the blog.everyaction.com url on social (which then wouldn't benefit just everyaction.com?) Anyways, a little help on what I should be considering when it comes to subdomains would be very helpful. Thanks, Devon

SEO implications of serving a different site on HTTPS vs. HTTP
I have two sites: Site A, and Site B. Both sites are hosted on the same IP address, and server using IIS 7.5. Site B has an SSL cert, and Site A does not. It has recently been brought to my attention that when requesting the HTTPS version of Site A (the site w/o an SSL cert), IIS will serve Site B... Our server has been configured this way for roughly a year. We don't do any promotion of Site A using HTTPS URLs, though I suppose somebody could accidentally link to or type in HTTPS and get the wrong website. Until we can upgrade to IIS8 / Windows Server 2012 to support SNI, it seems I have two reasonable options: Move Site B over to its own dedicated IP, and let HTTPS requests for Site A 404. Get another certificate for Site A, and have it's HTTPS version 301 redirect to HTTP/non-ssl. #1 seems preferable, as we don't really need an SSL cert for Site A, and HTTPS doesn't really have any SEO benefits over HTTP/non-ssl. However, I'm concerned if we've done any SEO damage to Site A by letting our configuration sit this way for so long. I could see Googlebot trying https versions of websites to test if they exist, even if there aren't any ssl/https links for the given domain in the wild... In which case, option #2 would seem to mostly reverse any damage done (if any). Though Site A seems to be indexed fine. No concerns other than my gut. Does anybody have any recommendations? Thanks!

Video SEO
Hello All! I'm wondering about the best way to link build and carry on my video trend. I love to create video's with all of my articles as I feel it adds an extra element to just boring old text! The problem is that my current 25 links from Youtube are all NoFollow. This didn't originally bother me, but it's starting too. Is there a couple of websites that I could upload my article/ video to and gain a link from in a similar manner? Come to think of it, is this a good SEO tactic to use?

Site comparison - what is wrong with me?
www.bcspeakers.com/ vs www.psbspeakers.com/ with the search term "speakers" why does BC speakers show up in around #50-60 and PSB is not in the top #1000? From all metrics on seomoz PSB kicks BC in every area by a large margine! can anyone see why BC is listed for that keyword and PSB is not?
