Why is Bing Showing Insurance Ads For Link Building Searches?
-
I keep seeing multiple (2-3 per search) car insurance ads when I search for "link building" on Bing. I made a blog post that shows a screenshot and has more details.
I'm not aware of any retargeting or other targeting options Bing offers that would show nonrelevant ads on a search like this. Or is there such a feature that I don't know about?
My best theories are that it is a bug, or that Bing is testing something new.
Any ideas?

i im guessing because insurance is a huge opportunity for affiliates! Just a guess though!

Funny, I just checked it out and found 5. Weird!!!

I'm seeing the same thing too... could be a problem with their broad match thinking that link building is somehow related to auto insurance. Or maybe SEOs don't know how to drive, LOL!

I can get hundreds of natural links from real estate agent sites, but should I?
I have a website that generate leads for real estate agents nationwide. I have an auto email that sends out the referral agreement and in the email I ask them to place a link to our website on their site somewhere to be a part of the program. I can get as many as 10-15 links in a few hours in every major city in the U.S. Most realtor websites have websites that are new, or haven't posted blogs and have a Moz domain score of 1 and trust score of 1. I have been thinking of only selecting websites with descent Moz rankings instead of having all agents link to me, even ones with a low moz score. Is it a bad idea to get a bunch of links from legitimate websites that have low Moz scores?

We noticed that goods offered in our email newsletters used to disappeared from fisrt google search results page. Goods where in top 5 positions or even higher, but after email newsletters we didn't find them even in top 100. We suspect service provider of email sending is in blacklist? Could it be reason? If yes, how could we check that?

Huge website Search Quality Team problem
One of my clients, have a huge problem. His page which generate traffic over 3 milion unique users per month (GA) has been penalized in January / filtered by Google, reason is simple: incoming links from low quality pages... We try everything from reconsideration request to meeting Google Europe employees (But not directly with search quality team), reconsideration requests (over 10) in 6 month are bounced off we got automatic reply like "This website have still problem, read Google Webmasters FAQ etc." We contacted manually with webmasters which have websites with incoming link to us, some pepole delete with no problem, rest don't take any action to remove our links from webistes...A few days ago we use disavow tool links where we add all links which can be ignored by Google, so.. we make new recosideration data with specific information and yesterday we got the same reply like as beginning of the year.. Like this: "There are still some inorganic links to your site" What we can do? We lost a money, our client lost money, lost position, lost users... Anyone have any idea to contact with Google excluding reconsideration request form and forum?

LinkSmart Raises $4.7M to Dynamically Change Links
LinkSmart is a startup trying to put a new spin on link management by providing a platform to dynamically change links. They just raised $4.7M, and TechCrunch posted a quick blurb on them here that is worth reading. In short, the application will allow a site owner to change all of the text links on their site in real-time. The idea is that this will help improve click-through rates, optimize traffic, etc. How do you guys see this from an SEO perspective? It seems a bit scary from an indexing standpoint if links are never consistent. Also, the flow of link juice will be inconsistent. Any thoughts?

What does the New Frontier of Search Look Like? (Mobile and Tablet)
I'd like to start a discussion thread on the direction of search as it applies to mobile and tablet. Jeff Haden, one of our Inc.com contributors, wrote an article headline stating that SIRI would be the end of SEO. However, what the article really talks about is the direction mobile search is likely to take: 1. Search results will be bypassed 2. Even more emphasis on local 3. PPC will be irrelevant 4. Emphasis on social media I think these insights are fairly intuitive and it will be really interesting to see how the medium for mobile and tablet develops. It will be interesting to see what technologies will shape the means by which users find information and not just the search intent of the user. Please add any insights you may have or good reads you'd like to share here.

Is Bing actually using Yahoo's search engine now?
All my Bing rankings are now the same as Yahoo's ranking were, but I expected the opposite. Meanwhile, my Yahoo rankings are exactly the same as they were last week.

Is their value in building your own website network?
--- I am moving this into open discussion to see if I can get a few more responses, I am very curious if anyone has experience in this area --- Hello, As a resource for my link building strategies I have often wondered if building my own 'web network' of sites would prove to be valuable in link building. For example, if I were targeting the travel industry (or insert a niche here) and created 30 websites on various related topics in the industry, would using outbound links from those sites to other relevant websites help increase domain authority? Obviously, I would need to avoid creating unusable sites with boilerplate content just for the sole purpose of linking. I am envisioning working websites/blogs that would be valuable on their own. Some thoughts and questions that have crossed my mind: If these sites are all hosted on the same server, would the link exchange end up in penalization in the SERPs? Being that the sites are designed to be quality sites on their own, can they share links between themselves if the links are relevant? This is already being done across the web, but what makes one network valuable and 'quality' vs another Being a web dev / host as well as SEO guy I would like to utilize those resources to create a network that is of quality and of value, but am not sure about things appearing 'unnatural'... It seems that the majority of link building falls into the 'unnatural' category as we as SEOs are constantly trying to place our links throughout the web vs. site owners linking naturally back to a website
