SEOmoz Rank tracking

I think this tool is a bit off : )
This morning I checked my ranking for a keyword and every time I recheck it I see my results in a different place. I checked on word 5 times and got three different results. Is Google brocken or is the tracker doing its own thing?
This is not the first time I am seeing this issue only today its really acting up.
IMHO I think it would be best if the tool just says out of order rather than 3, 10, 6 for one keyword phrase within ten minutes...
-
I checked it on SEOmoz and my ranking went from 2 to 6 I clicked it again and it went from 6 to 10 I clicked it again and it went to 3. Every time I refresh, the result its in a random spot.

Has any of you experienced drops of about 12 positions then back up etc. in the last few weeks or are you just experiencing position changes of 1 or 2 places?
-
Unfortunately this is not the case Google is not as static with results as they use to be. My rankings are bouncing up and down as if they are on a trampoline, as EGOL called it "the Google dance"

In your opinion, if i am logged into Goole and I run my term on the SEOmoz ranking tool does it have anything to do with me being logged on?
I am checking my terms in the SEOmoz tool. Me being logged into google or not has nothing to do with these results.

This is personalization. Nothing completely new, it's just getting more sophisticated. Your SERPs will vary based on if you are logged into a Google account, your browser history, your IP address's location, etc.
Enter private browsing mode (Firefox) or Incognito mode (Chrome) for a better chance of getting less personalized results. You can also "verify" your rankings by using multiple rank checkers.
Chances are you won't get the exact same answer across them, but you'll get a much better idea than manually checking it with all the "personalization variables"

Hi Donnie, sorry misread the question a bit!
Sounds like it's down to the way the tool connects with Googles various servers then(?) -
lol I guess Google is doing salsa dancing with our sites : ) every time I check my results im in a new location.
-
Hey Greg, running an SEOmoz report should have nothing to do with me being logged into Google or Gmail. etc.. However if SEOmoz is accurate, rankings are changing in SERP's within seconds. Its very strange considering this is the first time I have noticed it being this inconsistant.
-
Hi Donnie,
Have you considered that being signed into Gmail/Google apps could be affecting your SERPs? I've also seen a similar issue with using Chrome whilst not signed in. I usually goto Private Browsing to check SERPs manually, as this seems to be the best way to get the (nearest to) accurate results.
But, as EGOL says, there does seem to be a lot of fluctation & change around at the moment.
Hope that helps.
Thanks, Greg -
From what I am seeing there is enormous instability in the SERPs. This has been going on for about the past month but it is especially bad the past week.
I can open three different browsers on my machine and get very different results from each of them.... then remote to a computer at another location and get completely different results on three browsers there.
This reminds me of the old google dance.

Why is my page rank disapointing
Hi fairly new here, so just getting used to everything one questions please. Just ran a crawl test of the website and this page http://www.livingphilosophy.org.uk/teaching-philosophy/index.htm came back with a page authority of 1. Other pages have a rank of 18 through 26 scratched my head for a few hours and came up with no ideas. thanks andy

Rankings confusion in pro campaign
Hello Moz-world! I recently set up a new campaign, and the crawl is still in the process of wrapping up (been 4 days). When I look at my rankings it tells me "not in the top 50" then when I scroll over, it shows me that my client is ranking in position 3, in the instance of one keyword. Anyone know why there is a discrepancy between what the report shows, and what it shows when you mouse over the rankings? Thanks! Tyler

Comparing Rankings Performance by Date
I would like to demonstrate to our clients how the Search Engine Rankings have improved or declined based on a date range i.e. this month vs last month and this month vs the same month last year. I could do a keyword ranking history export and create a chart in Excel from that information, however does anyone have any suggestions as to how this can be done more dynamically/automatically? Are there any API options or even a way to schedule the export of the historical data on a monthly basis? Any suggestions would be most welcome! Thanks Steve

Question about SEOMoz Pro and Root Domain vs. Subdomain tracking
I currently have two Pro campaigns set up. They are both tracking the root domains of two different e-commerce sites. I also am tracking three competitors for each company, in each campaign. I have those set up by subdomains, like so www.Competitor.com. So in my Historical link analysis I am getting MyRootDomain.com, compared to www.competitor1.com, www.competitor2.com and www.competitor3.com Is this a problem? Would it be better for me to switch my company campaigns to track subdomains too, or to switch my competitor tracking to root domains. This is probably pretty rudimentary, but it never even occurred to me until just now. I realize that if I switch to subdomains for my own company tracking this would necessitate setting up a completely new campaign. This would be a problem because I am maxed out on my 1,000 keywords. Last but not least, does the fact that I have been tracking my own site root domains compared to competitors subdomains mean all of my competitive domain and link analysis is, well, garbage?...because I haven't really been comparing the same things?

SEOMoz rocks, but is it breaking Google's webmaster guidelines when it comes to check rankings?
Hi all, The Google's webmaster guideline in question reads... "Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google." So, when WebPosition Gold is not recommended then how come SEOMoz is acceptable to check ranks for websites belonging to SEOMoz PRO? Do Google neglects breaking of few guidelines by good boys? Thanks in advance.

Why does SEOMoz crawler ignore robots.txt?
The SEOMoz crawler ignores robots.txt It also "indexes" pages marked as noindex. That means it is filling up the reports with things that don't matter. Is there any way to stop it doing that?
