Linkedin profile severely penalized
-
I may have over optimized my linkedin profile...as a result it only shows up for
linkedin + my name (ilya elbert) it does NOT show up for just my name query alone on the first 200 results.
I've removed all my jobs and most of the info and am going to gradually re add things when I get it back - is there anything I can do to speed up the process of reconsideration? I guess I'm new to this over optimization penalty.
-
Odd, right? Seems slightly backwards. But you are educated enough on SEO to know all the common sense things...and if those don't work..?!
Then again, you may just not be getting very good advice
-
So you're suggesting I drive some links to this profile to see if google deems to worthy again :)? I will try that. Time for some life-story articles about my immigration to america to go on ezines loool.
-
I think LinkedIn keeps some of this type of information close to their chest. I'm surprised you may have dropped out (I checked and looked through the search results because it's just odd) since Google is normally so good about making those connections. Then again, you do a lot of work and there's some good competition for your articles and such
Quite frankly, most anything you can find on the Web on this subject is so 101, it's not worth reading. My only suggestion is - can you do some links to it from some of your other sites/postings/whatever to drive traffic and/or raise the visibility to Google? It could be over optimized, so if you are concerned there, that's one set of edits you could address.
(I am clearly not a LinkedIn expert unless it comes to setting up profiles and user tips; the SEO side of how they do things doesn't have much data.)

Andrea
A few days ago. I did substantial keyword optimization to it. as a business owner I essentially listed 3 different jobs under the same business and then listed myself as having the same position for another business which had an almost identical job description - essentially showing repeating text.

Hi Ilya,
Are you sure you haven't disabled your public profile by accident? I ask because even when I search linkedin ilya elbert, I don't see your linkedin profile. - Ignore that, just checked again without personalized search and I can see your profile on the bottom of the page.
I can't say that I've ever heard of anyone having their linkedin profile penalized in google search before. Sounds a bit strange to me.
Adam.

When did you notice this - how long? It can take Google a while to recrawl a LinkedIn profile.

Long list of companies spread out over several pages - duplicate content?
Hi all, I am currently working with a company formation agent. They have a list of every limited company spread over hundreds of pages. What do you guys think? Is there a need for Canonicals? The website is ranking pretty well but I want to make sure there aren't any problems in the future. Here are two pages as examples: http://www.formationsdirect.com/companysearchlist.aspx?start=MULLAGHBOY+CONSTRUCTION+LIMITED&next=1# http://www.formationsdirect.com/companysearchlist.aspx?start=%40a+company+limited&next=1# Also what about the actual company pages? See an example below http://www.formationsdirect.com/companysearchlist.aspx?name=AMNA+CONSTRUCTION+LTD&number=06630333#.U8PW6_ldX1s Thanks in advance Aaron

Does the follow link from the moz Profile really count after first with nofollow?
Hey all, I discovered that the link from the public profile might not count. To my knowledge Google "counts" the first link to another page on any given page. The public profile has a nofollow link before your follow link:

linktodomain.tld linktodomain.tld Doesn't this invalidates all the public profile links? What is your stance on this? Regards Sebastian2 -
It looks like there are several title tags on my homepage. This was done presumably to embed titles for pop up windows. This is causing an error report in DMOZ. Do the engines also veiw this negatively?
My homepage has a normal title tag, but when I look in the code I find the developer also added title tags for pop ups within the homepage code. Is this causing an issue with the search engines?

Can't rank for a target key word "penalized?"
I've been trying to rank for the key word "kayak fishing" for my site www.yakangler.com. Last year when I started working on the SEO for my site I was on page 30 for Google search results so like the 300th result. After tweaking things on my site I managed to get to the second page but have since fallen all the way back to page 25-26 in the search results. I'm wondering if I'm penalized for this key word. I can't figure out why my site is ranking soooo badly for "kayak fishing" Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Several Links in Some Pages
Dear all, Our main site is a bussiness directory, and following some SEO advices, we are creating landing pages for each category, in order to optimize them for the keywords. Those landing pages have links to the listings related to them. Using the same idea, we have created pages related to the regions, and those pages include links to the listings located in them. The only problem that I see with that, is the number of links that some categories or regions could have. Is there a limit of recomended number of links per page, from a SEO perspective? We also have a main category page, that includes a list of all categories, and this page could also have a relatively high number of links. The pages have around 300 to 500 words, some include also images, some include videos. Many thanks for your help, Daniel

Can Your Site Get Penalized For Keyword Stuffing On An 'Untarged' Keyword?
My site has dropped since the EMD/Panda 20 roll out and I am looking for reasons why. I am looking at Keyword Stuffing as one potential problem. My web site is on the topic of WordPress Security with that being the main keyword I want to target. Now I can limit the number of occurrences of 'wordpress security' to below the recommended 15, but it is impossible to do this for 'wordpress' without severely compromising the user experience. I've got other content on topics such as WordPress Backup and WordPress Security Plugins etc, so obviously the word 'wordpress' is bound to appear frequently. Is there a risk that Google will penalize me for Keyword Stuffing on 'wordpress' and thus pull down the site or page for other keywords? Or would it simply mean I won't be able to rank for 'wordpress' (which I am quite happy about)? Thanks!

Whats the best way to rank high for several different keywords?
I Have a print website www.print.dor2dor.com and we print 100's of products. I was wandering what is the best way to rank high for severall keywords as we dont want to just rank high for printing because when people are searching they normally type in the product they are looking for with printing at the end of it.
