Can someone advice what the best way is to promote a Squidoo lens post Penguin?
Thank you

The point is that for seo value ezines and squidio and hubpages aren't as valueble as they used to be. If done perfectly and not spammy you can get some small value out of it but I wouldn't make it the foundation of your seo work. What I would do is maybe write 1-2 articles for each that have solid content and promote them on various social networks so that people can see you have published writing in different sites and that can have multiple benefits. If you write only for your site then people will assume no one wants your work, if you write for multiple sites even the web 2.0 sites people will believe you offer something valuable. That being said I would focus on Guest Blogging on sites that are similar to yours. This will accomplish most of your goals. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Your right, sorry.

Author rank is based on social (amongst many others), so gaining positive social signals would be elevation of author exposure. Just because a site has a bad reputation, does not mean it does not contain the recipes for exposure...
I think you are confusing backlinks or PR with Social Signals that go along with author rank and the signals of content relevance it takes into consideration, and how as the spectrum becomes more crowded, the smallest of differences will affect ranking (much like PR and Backlins does now amongst others)
So in essence we are talking about two different things, squidoo is not a backlink building tool, but it is an exposure building tool, or can be.
Cool you trust a SEO figure over someone youve never heard of that was quite a burn, man you have a razor sharp wit....
-
I would trust Danny over you any day LOL
Author Rank from Squidoo? Add in Ezine and ArticleBase too huh? LOL
See ya 'round LOL
-
LOL thaks for the SEO advice....
Author rank has nothing to do with SEO?
And we all know, that every word a guru says is totally true always LOL =p
LOL and gaining traffic WOULD be a part of SEO, as well as targeting longtail queries for a site with current low authority to gain indirect exposure...
There are many out of the box purposes to SEO, than just "gaining links"
-
Seems to me, the question was based on SEO (hence the "post Penguin" part in the op's question)
I would refer you to a recent Tweet by Danny Sullivan: https://twitter.com/dannysullivan/status/208311374101745664
If you are using it for it's intended purpose, that's one thing, but if you are using it for SEO... complete waste of time.
-
I would completely disagree - It depends on the quality of the article placed and the intention...
If your intention is to use squidoo, as it is supposed to be, then you can make a tiny bit of income, while also gaining traffic. (and depending on the quality/relevance in some cases semi valuable backlinks or author exposure)
The best way to promote squidoo, is socially in my opinion.
Now would i spend any money, or a lot of time and energy on squidoo? No, but it CAN be a valuable resource in you arsenal if used correctly as it is intended.
But as i said, it all boils down to intent, on its level of effectiveness... (basically if you are trying to use it to pad your link profile with low end crap, then you will be wasting your time, but if you write knowledgeable, helpful articles about relevant topics that people actually want to read about, you can get some good longtail exposure and author exposure)
-
No offense, but I would ignore Squidoo, and any other article directory type site....

If you post on two Twitter accounts could be rated as duplicate content
I have a personal Twitter account which is building up, but I also have a Twitter account for my holiday letting agency and until now I’ve always separated the subject of the tweets and links to my websites but I’m using Buffer which automates your tweets in advance and so I included some of the links to my business holiday letting agency articles on my personal account and people seem to like them and have shared them, but is there any risks to doing that regarding duplicate type of content? At the end of the day some the people on my personal Twitter will be interested in my agency tweets about holiday accommodation, I just want to do anything which could be termed spam.

Best Way to Promote Self Hosted Videos?
We are soon to launch 25 short videos on one of our websites. They are a little bit different and I think they have a particularly good chance of going viral. The videos will be scattered over the website on our actual sales pages (not tucked away on our blog). We are hoping (expecting) that customers will click on them and subsequently share them mainly due to the surprise / fun factor. I've got a lot of experience promoting our (linkbait) blog posts which usually get between 10,000 and 100,000 hits via social media blogs, however, I have no experience promoting video. We will do the offsite social blog promotions as normal, however, my two main concerns are: 1. I'm unsure how best to use the social buttons (facebook like/share tweet and G+). As I understand it (I could very much be wrong), I can either embed the social buttons on the videos so that they are easily shared across facebook etc... or I can make the the social button make the user 'Like' / 'Share' the page that the video is on. I assume that the latter option is better for website promotion but maybe not good for people sharing the video on Facebook etc. some of the videos do not have pride of place on our pages. An explanation or examples on the best option would be appreciated. 2. Should we hold off from putting the videos on YouTube until the website has earned some of the juice first? Or are we missing out on and opportunity by not offering all avenues at once? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated too! They will hopefully be up and running by the end of the month so I'll come back and let you know how it went. Thank you for your time guys and gals! Richard (Moz Customer 2391745) PS. If it is of interest we are using JW Player

Request: Feedback on new free tool that provides social analytics for recent blog posts
We have created a tool that provides "at a glance social metrics" for the URLs listed in an RSS feed. Its intended purposes are: Monitor the social success of your recent blog posts Spy on the social success of your competitors' recent blog posts Quickly analyze a blog for social sharing metrics to determine whether it is a good outreach prospect or guest post opportunity Check out the tool at http://www.rypmarketing.com/tools/rss-social-analyzer.php I've attached a report run on the YouMoz RSS feed. Would love to hear some feedback on the tool... Do you think the tool is useful? Nice, but not worthwhile? What could be done to improve it? What ways do you think it will be most useful? Thanks! Why would Google+ send posts as 'messages' to people outside of your circles?
A day ago I uploaded a photo of a US Navy ship mooring at Bell Harbor marina, which is across from my office (near the conference center site of SMX Advanced Seattle). A rude comment was posted by someone from Germany accusing me of sending this to them personally, offended because he's anti-military: "Don't spam people pal." I blocked him. So, since it was uploaded to my public stream and shared to my circles, I have no explanation as to how this could happen. If someone in my circles shared it to him, I suppose it could look like I sent it to him, but I haven't seen that happen before. Anyone else see behavior like this? UPDATE: because this person was within one of the circles to whom I shared this photo, he received a notification that I'd shared it "directly" with him. See comment below.
