When did Google include display results per page into their ranking algorithm?
-
It looks like the change took place approx. 1-2 weeks ago.
Example: A search for "business credit cards" with search settings at "never show instant results" and "50 results per page", the SERP has a total of 5 different domains in the top 10 (4 domains have multiple results).
With the slider set at "10 results per page", there are 9 different domains with only 1 having multiple results.
I haven't seen any mention of this change, did I just miss it?
Are they becoming that blatant about forcing as many page views as possible for the sake of serving more ads?

When I built my rank tracker I was originally going to get 50 per page, then noticed the results are much different from 10 results per page. That was at the beginning of March - not sure about before that time.
-
Interesting. Have you guys seen an increase in disparity between the two methods over the last couple of weeks?
I don't use the 50 and 100 count pages for rank tracking, but I use them for prospecting and analysis. I definitely started noticing the increase in domains with multiple results about two weeks ago, but it's possible I just didn't pay close enough attention before that.
What really sparked this question was the fact that I found a SERP in which the top 12 results were all from a single domain. I thought I was hallucinating.

This has been happening for a while now. We use rank tracking with 100 results per page and the ranking results are usually different than comparing it to 10 results per page.E.g. 10 results per page ranking = 19, 100 results per page ranking = 33
First time we noticed this was back in March 12'.. although it could have started earlier than that.

About porn sites and ranking
Hello, I'm thinking to extend my website into porn. At the moment there is no pornography on it, although we do talk about sex related topics and products (from dating to tutorials, to toys etc.) Would it be dangerous to keep the porn section on the same domain as the rest? Would this negatively affect my non-porn content as Googlebot would "flag" my website as being pornographic (although only a few pages would be)? Or simply Googlebot would leave the current non-porn pages ranking as they are now, just fine, and plus it would rank the porn pages if they "deserve" to? I hope my question is clear. I don't want to create a subdomain.

Any SEO disadvantages with creating pages under a directory page which doesn't exists?
Hi, Let's say we are going to create pages in the URL path www.website.com/directory/sub-pages/. In case this page www.website.com/directory/ doesn't exists or redirected; will the pages created in this URL path like stated above have any issues in-terms of SEO? We will link these pages from somewhere in the website and planning to redirect the /directory/ to homepage. Suggestions please.

Google Maps marker inconsistency
We just discovered that depending on the address format you enter into Google, you may come across incorrectly placed marker locations on Google Maps. Is this because our Google Places address format is not consistent with Google Maps' format? If so, when I go into Google Places to update the address format, am I going to have to go through the citation process all over again?

Does Google or Bing use words in the page title beyond the displayed limit for ranking purposes?
Standard good practice for on-page SEO includes keeping page title length below the maximum that Google displays in the SERPs. But words in the title beyond that maximum can be indexed, even if they don't show in the SERPs for end users. For ranking purposes, is there any value in words beyond the character limit in page titles that are truncated in the SERPs?

Monthly Searches in Rankings Tab
Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to SEOMoz, so my apologies if this is a very obvious question. I'm trying to find out how to do a report that shows both the ranking of my keywords as well as the monthly searches in Google or the other search engines. Is there an option for this? Thanks in advance!
