Is my new page to busy please advise
-
hi i am testing a page which i am working on at the moment, have some image problems which i am sorting out. what i would like to know if you feel this page is to busy or if this page looks ok. I would also like to know if this page would tempt you to click on other articles or if you would just go off this page once you have read the story.
here is the page http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/celebrity-showbiz-news/fans-angry-over-x-factor-judge-nicole-scherzinger
any help would be great

I think the page looks pretty good. My only concern is that the thumbnail images on the right are all skewed. I'm not sure how you'd fix this - perhaps by using timthumb?

Hi,
1. can you let me know how to change the fav icon please, never done this
** It's a straight forward process. Help in the link bellow: http://docs.joomla.org/Changing_the_site_favicon
2. at the moment i am using ariel font, can you recommend a good font to use. i was trying to find out what the sun newspaper and other online newspaper were using.
** It's not only about the font it's alos about the size, color and spacing. I would usually sugest to go for a non serif font - whatever the font is - but witha good clear spacing, grey color. Like you said - best approach is to get the flow from a site you feel is a good sample - bigger ones for sure had invest some time in getting it right.
3. i know ga means google anaylistics but what does a/b mean - use GA with A/B testing to track different behaviors.
** a/b testing = split testing. You have two version of the same page with some differences (usually one at the time) and based on your traffic (if you have enough to test) you can see what version is more successful. Split testing, A/B testing was a separate google product until not long ago but now is part of Google Analytics. You can find it under GA at Content -> Experiments.
Look online for some articles related with web site optimizer or how to use split testing or how to use A/B testing and there are several overviews available.
Split testing is crucial but you need some traffic to make it happen.
4. can you let me know what colour schemes you feel would be good and where
** I think that's related with personal taste but to bet on the right horse I would choose to simulate a big site that has more or less your same traget.
5. can you let me know more about this please - add some header with some good call to action images
** This is a personal opinion but I would add the articles in a slide show on the header .. similar with: http://demo.woothemes.com/?name=boldnews
Not a good sample for you but the idea is there.
6. this is very important, can you let me know about the following so i can get this sorted out.you have some issues as far as accessibility with different browsers.
** With Chrome for example your search filed and box is off - all over the screen. That is also pushing everything down a little bit losing some important page real estate.
Hope it helps.

Hi Diane,
From an usability point of view I think (and this is a personal opinion) that you could work more on the page to make it more friendly.
Just a few ideas:
-
replace the fav icon
-
change the font (hard to digest / read)
-
change / improve the titles for the 3 top stories.
-
use GA with A/B testing to track different behaviors.
-
color scheme could be more "friendly" by adding a matching color palette.
-
add some header with some good call to action images... Slides are a good approach. Very actionable as far as clicks and all.
some other points:
-
get rid of the keyword tags.
-
you have some issues as far as accessibility with different browsers.
Question:
- you don't track the visitors for the page ? (google analytics or anything else ?)
Hope it helps.

If my blog is on Wordpress, and I've installed the AMP plug-in, what do I need to do to get Google to start indexing all my posts as AMP pages?
If I add /amp to the end of any of my posts, I can see that the plug-in is working. It's been months since I installed it, though, and Google hasn't indexed any of the AMP pages. Am I missing a step?

Best practice for Wordpress /page/2/
I realize that it might be a minor point but it still bugs me. We have a blog with a number of posts. Content of the posts does not expire or age (in the rare case something changes, we do update the information in the posts). The wordpress blog is setup to display our latest posts and displays 15 posts at once. Since we have a lot of content, the older posts get pushed off the front page which is understandable and desirable behavior. However the pages that have older posts have names like "/page/2/", /page/3/, /page/4/ and so on. This does not look very SEO or user friendly to me. What do you think? Did you come up with something better then /page/ and then a number?

Is it Possible for an Internal Page to Rank for Various Terms Based ONLY on Blogging Anchor Text?
Hi everyone, Our company provides about 6 different services, each with a specific page on our website: 1. Accept ACH Payments (/accept_ach_payments.html) 2. Client Management & Billing Software (/customer_management.html) 3. Small Business Merchant Accounts (/small_business_merchant_account.html) etc etc Now, here's the question. One of our blogging strategies is to write content about how our online platform can help various types of businesses manage and grow their business. "5 Ways Fitness Business Can...." "How Law Firms Can Benefit...." etc In these blog posts, we don't specify our product, but we do link back into one of those main service pages, so I might link fitness management software to the Client Management & Billing Software (/customer_management.html) page as well as legal billing software to the same client management page Since there are so many different companies that could use our software, we don't want to include them on the Cl_i_ent Management & Billing Software page. That page is just about the benefits of the system and how it works as a great CRM. So....to make a long question short, are we able to rank the Client Management page for "fitness management software" and "legal billing software" if we don't use those terms on the "client management" page itself, and only use it as the anchor text when linking? Instead of making a separate page about how we can be used as a fitness management platform, we'd like our "client management" page to rank for various terms like "fitness management software" "legal billing software" "online church donation software" etc BUT, we don't want to bloat the client management page will all those other topics and content. Hope that makes sense, Patrick

How does one write different pages of their website that are very similar in nature with using too much duplicate content?
We are a service provider and we have different links on our website to each of our services. The problem is the content that we would have for each is very similar. How can I ensure that it is not deemed duplicate content and ranked poorly because of it. Thanks

Duplicate Page Content & Rel-Canonicals
The SEO Moz duplicate page content tool lists the following URL's as having duplicate content: http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx?sort=PriceAsc&pi=2 The second URL is the price sorter/second page of the category and contains the following rel-canonical: | http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx"> Are we using the rel-canonical correctly in this case? If so, why does it continue to show up as duplicate content in our SEO Moz report? There are over 1,000 URLS listed in the report with the exact same issue. |

How many pages is too many to add to a site at one time?
I have quite a bit of excellent content articles at my disposal and we would like to increase the number of pages on our site. I could, theoretically add 100's of pages at a time. Does anyone have a good sense of how much content added to a sight in mass looks bad to Google? My plan is to add approximately 50 pages a week to our site, which already has 4000 pages of content. This is relevant content, since we are a custom writing service and all topics are covered. Our content is what gives us great organic hits and orders. However, I would like to add more than 50 a week...how many is too many? Thanks and I appreciate thoughts and feedback! Karen

Different pages with very similar H1's - will I get a penalty?
I currently have text articles about various topics on my site - for this example say I have written about "Negative Reinforcement". This article is live over a month now and getting listed on the first google page with an added keyword which the article is specifically related to. Now I want to create an infographic related to the same topic "Negative Reinforcement" - but I want to call the page this infographic will go on "Negative Reinforcement Infographic" while the article is currently called just "Negative Reinforcement". Neither page will have duplicate content from each other. The article is 2,000+ words so I don't want to throw more into it by adding on the infographic and I want to specifically create the infographic as linkbait and on a stand alone page. I am curious if adding another page with such a similar title and H1 have any negative effect ("dilute" the strength of the other article), for example will google take having two different pages with such a similar heading as potential keyword stuffing and penalise the site?
