Social Media Signals with AddThis?
-
Good day guys,
Just a quick question. By having the AddThis sharing tool to share content such as blogs, does it still send the same social signals to Google as you would get by having the official Facebook/Twitter plug-ins?

Hi James,
Thank you very much for that article you linked to, I didn't even notice that it was actually doing that. What we did now is just get rid of that orange "share" button as a whole, and only keep the Twitter/FB and G+ ones (that don't link back to AddThis).
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
Add this button will provide the same basic elements as a direct share button, that been said AddThis has run into some trouble in the past with hidden links via the share buttons, a good post on this here: http://phill.co/seo/dont-use-the-addthis-social-sharing-toolbar-its-bad-for-seo
I do not know if they currently still do this, personally I use the sharing is Sexy buttons and also some direct ones on most of my sites.
Hope this helps.

Is there any way I can search on Google or use any tool to find my audiences who have shared my blog post on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn or anywhere else? If Moz provides this functionality then where can i find it. Also, How can i find the same information on competitors blog?

Social media unclarities
Dear community, I've tried to find the answer in the Q&A but without any succes. www.facebook.com/onlinedesignmeubel.nl is our facebook page for our webshop. We have 563 likes, but in opensiteexplorer we only have 1 FB like. It is most likely an easy question, but i couldn't find the answer. My question is how the opensiteexplorer only found 1 like? How does this work exactly? Best regards, Martin

SEO & Social | More SEO effect by liking the page URL rather than the Facebook Page?
SEOMoz Gurus, I am wondering what our best implementation strategy shoul dbe around linking up the Facebook Like button on our pages. Essentially there are two options: A) Linking the button directly to the Facebook Page of the web site so every Like is actually converting into a Facebook "Fan" which can be messaged going forward through our Facebook page. B) Having them like the actual URL which might be more beneficial from an SEO and viral perspective as now a link to the actual URL gets shared on the Liker's facebook wall and it should also be easier to use that lIke for Google & Co. as it's tied to the actual URL not a random Facebook page given that search engines already convert those signals. Both approaches obviously have their benefits. Are there any common guidelines on what is a better approach to take from a pure SEO perspective? Thanks /Thomas
