Followed seomoz advice for on page tweaks but dropped
-
Hi all
We followed seomoz advice regarding on-page tweaks for this page:
http://www.compactlaw.co.uk/agency-agreement.html
Dropped 10 places by Google UK.
Obviously could be a coincidence, but any on-page critique very gladly received.
(But also seem to have been dropped by Google across the board in the past week or so. Usual trouble of trying to find causes. But specific page advice would be a start and much appreciated.)
Regards

Thanks again.
Very helpful

Yeah, use SEOMoz's very own Open Site Explorer. If you need help figuring it all out add me to Skype (Matt.GlassApple).
Try not to copy a competitors link profile though. While you may find a few useful places to get a link from by looking at competitors pages, they too might be using underhanded tactics.
-
Thanks for the advice.
We are going to delete them and work on external links.
Apologies for asking, but is there a way to find which sites link to a competitor website particular page?
For example which sites link direct to: www.our-competitor.com/agency-agreement.html
Hope that makes some sense.
Thanks again

Get rid of these sites or do something useful with them. These site-wide links will be hurting you and Google will easily be able to see that you own the domain.
If you must keep them, add a blog or something to them, get some unique content on them. Invite others to guest post and link to other places other than your own website. Make the page look natural. Only link back to your site every now and then, if at all.
-
You have no incoming links at all for that page from any external websites. Build some links up, make sure they are natural. If you ranked for this term before now then it was due to general site strength before the Penguin update. Obviously since the update you will have lost lots of shoddy links therefore dropped in domain authority - this looks like it is having an adverse effect on subsequent pages that seemed only to rank because the domain was strong.
-
Possible site-wide drop may be partly due to these specific domains that we own that point to our site. Found at the bottom of Open Site Explorer.
We have been told that Penguin update does not like these. All have very low domain authority.
Hmm...just found we also own "agency-agreements.co.uk"

Hi
"agency agreement"

Page Title Length
Hi Gurus, I understand that it is a good practice is to use 50-60 characters for the a page title length. Google appends my brand name to the end of each title (15 characters including spaces) it index. Do I need to count what google adds as part of the maximum recommended length? i.e.

is the maximum 50-60 characters + the 15 characters brand name Google adds to the end of the title or 50-60 including the addition? Many thanks!

Listing all services on one page vs separate pages per service
My company offers several generalized categories with more specific services underneath each category. Currently the way it's structured is if you click "Voice" you get a full description of each voice service we offer. I have a feeling this is shooting us in the foot. Would it be better to have a general overview of the services we offer on the "Voice" page that then links to the specified service? The blurb about the service on the overview page would be unique, not taken from the actual specific service's page.

Why doe SEOmoz include my categories and subcategories when counting on page links?
Hi everyone, I am new to SEOMOZ, but it looks like really good program. I ran a report last week, and SEOMOZ says that out of 10001 pages, I hve a total of 9995 warnings. When I take a look at the breakdown, it says I have too many on page links. I removed the links from the bottom of each page, but my on page links are still over 100. Does this mean that I will have to get rid of categories and sub-categories in the navigation bar? Thanks, Don

Hi, My website - www.thepartyhouse.com.au is showing as having too many on-page links for over 4,000 pages. Take for example the homepage which is showing as 188 links, but I don't understand this because I've used SEO tools to display the links and I am showing around 90 links on this page. How can I see what all the links are? Thanks

paintball-online.com This is consistent on every page, despite these pages having text. I assume the SEOMoz tool is working just fine and we have a coding issue that may be hindering our SEO efforts. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks

Can I have a strong brand category page and a strong product page?
It seems Google base and other Comparison Shopping Engines like to see the brand in the product name. But, on my category page for that brand, website optimizer tells me including the brand name with each product is cannabilizes links. For example; I have a page for jewelerABC with 20 pieces of jewelry listed as well as original content about jewelerABC. I do not currently name these products as xyz by jewelerABC. This page comes up nicely in the serps. But in Google base The top listings for jewelry by jewelerABC seem to have every product named xyz by jewelerABC or JewelerABC xyzs. What is the best way to optimize.for both? Stephen
