Domain redirection and seo implications

We have an existing site that is a subdomain but we recently acquired an exact match domain. Will building links to the exact match domain and having the domain point at our existing subdomain work or should we convert the entire site and redirect our existing subdomain to the new domain?
What I'm trying to figure out is how to maximize the benefit here and how the existing mass of links pointing to our existing subdomain (shop.domain.com) can be used.

If your existing subdomain is ranking and earning well, it is a risk to move that to a new domain, because not all authority/history/etc. is transferred and you have to be very careful about not changing anything else and still have to hope that all works out as expected.
Building links and authority to the new domain and then linking to the existing subdomain has basically no risk to your current business. Only problem is that you will have to create unique content and get new links, but at least there is no chance of hurting your existing rankings and the real possibility that after the 301 the subdomain is stronger.
But the above is short term thinking, for long term it could very well be wiser to bite the bullet and 301 the old to the new. But that all depends on what you want for the future.
***** Extra info: In the past 8 months I have acquired 10 EMD and 301'd old domains to those new EMD's. 5 websites gained ranking, 3 more or less stayed the same and 2 disappeared to 200+, from top 10. All this was done to websites 4 years old with stable rankings for 2 years and no SEO/link building done for 2 years.
So for me it really was what I felt the luck of the draw what happened with 301's. Later I found that it is not only luck, it also has to do with why the old website was ranking in the first place, content or links was most significant. This of course besides the fact that you should leave everything and I mean everything the same when 301'ing.

Trash Domain Or Redirect it (unmaintained)
We have an old website with an old domain that has not been maintained for a few years; it now has a DA of 14 and a spam score of 24%. Our current domain (same business) within a few years has a domain authority of 21 and page authority 29 spam score 1%. (Yes, this domain should have been redirected from the get-go) The question is what do you do with it now? Toss it. Or redirect it. That domain has existed for years but still not sure what its value is from an SEO perspective. I would love to hear your feedback. Is there any benefit to redirect the old domain to the current domain. Or is it a negative and what impact?

Redirect 301 issue. I changed my domain name and Google is killing me.
Hello SEO community: I have this problem, and I don't know exactly what to do. I recently changed my domain from uclasificados.net to uclasificados.com uclasificados.net was a free classified ads for USA in spanish, and was my most affortable site, so I wanted to convert it to .com because I thought it could get more popular with the .com domain. uclasificados.com was before a free classified ads website for Colombia, but was not very popular and had poor traffic so I moved the Colombian content to uclasificados.co. Since I changed my domain from uclasificados.net to uclasificados.com I have lost a lot of ranking, and l my traffic every day is getting lower. I have already checked the 301 redirections and they are working correctly, but even thought I keep getting less traffic and less money. I have also checked with moz tools both sites link juice, and it says that uclasificados.net have better reputation. So I was wondering if I change it back and redirect uclasificados.com to uclasificados.net but I worrie that if I do that, maybe I can make things worse. What do you recommend me?
