Advice on Getting this site ranking?
-
Hi there
I'm looking to optimise this site for SEO -> Gets about 3,000 visits per day but all from branded searches. Gets virtually no 'keyword searches'
It's just a landing page at the moment. Would you recommend I integrate a blog with it, so we can start targeting more long tail keywords (free football game etc)
Any thoughts/advice appreciated
Thanks
Howard

Putting a blog or other content on your website that is marketing focused to complement the content that is primarily meant for your business or customers is a good idea. This type of content allows one to drive new traffic, to get links in, or to get social shares.
It would be good to keep it on the same domain and to use subfolders. Like footballgames.com/blog or footballgames.com/articles.
But you do have to avoid stuff that might make your blog appear manipulative for SEO purposes. Try to link across intelligently from your blog to your business content and vise versa. Don't have anchor text rich links on every page of your blog linking over to the business pages. Optimize the blog to be helpful to visitors not just for the benefit of the crawler. A blog should try to entertain, educate, and build trust with your audience so that one can improving the site's browse rate and get people to look at more pages.
Hope this helps.

I would look at ways that you can create some great content that will enrich your current site, from what you have put there appears to be a lot of scope. You need to think about how you can gain links in order to be able to increase your ranking for targeted keywords. I would definitely think about your idea of a blog and invite guest posts/ reviews from current users of your free football game or even better industry authorities (well known gamers/reviewers). This will help increase interaction on your website and this will lead to increased traffic and more links. Think about incorporating how-to guides which can be both written and video based recording actions from game play etc. I would also concentrate on building up your social presence and make sure you look at building relationships with social influencers such as well- known game reviewers/gaming sites and publications. Building these relationships will help increase your exposure as you can make them aware of any new content on the site you are now doing SEO for and this in turn will lead to them pushing it to their followers which will again increase traffic and links will come. As we all know these links will increase your sites authority in the eyes of the search engines and you will gain ranking and search visits from none branded keywords. Hope this helps!!

Why have my rankings dropped?
I have a client who has just seen his average page rank creep up from around 39 to 34 over about two months, then it appears to have dropped back to position 40+ in the space of a week. I believe he's made a lot of changes to targeted keywords, so I'd like to think it's simply because his old targeted keywords are dropping and new keywords still have to build their rankings. But I'm also worried in case he has over-optimised and might get getting penalised. Any advice on where to start digging?

Penguin recovery, no manual action. Are our EMD sites killing our brand site?
Hi guys, Our brand site (http://urban3d.net) has been seeing steady decline due to algorithm updates for the past two years. Our previous SEO company engaged in some black-hat link building which has hurt us very badly. We have recently re-launched the site, with better design, better content, and completed a disavow of hundreds of bad links. The site is technically indexed, but is still nowhere in the SERPs after months of work to recover it by our internal marketing team. The last SEO company also told us to build EMD sites for our core services, which we did: http://3dvisualisation.co.uk/ http://propertybrochure.com/ http://kitchencgi.com/ My question is - could these EMD sites now hurting us even further and stopping our main brand site from ranking? Our plan is to rescue our brand site, with a view to retiring these outlier sites. However, with no progress on the brand site, we can't afford to remove these site (which are ranking). It seems a bit chicken and egg. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Aidan, Urban 3D

How is my 301 redirected site stealing rankings from the main site?
Hello, I have a site, drhobelt.com, that 301 redirects to the main site, drhonow.com. Not only is drhobelt.com still indexed, but it recently stole rankings from drhonow.com for "decompression belt" related terms. What could be causing this? How do I reclaim the rankings for drhonow.com? Thanks for reading!!

New site - when will it rank?
We changed our domain 6 weeks ago as we had a penalty we couldn't shake off... My question is: How long will it take to rank for our keywords. I appreciate this is a difficult questions as there are a lot of factors that will effect our ranking. Do Google wait a period of time before allowing a new site to rank well?

How can someone not call B.S. on this site ranking 4th.
We manage a lot of sites that are around pharmaceuticals and lawsuits. I was checking a couple of the sites around the keyword: Actos Lawsuit using the keyword difficulty with serp analysis. Our sites have done very little Adwords except for first month about a year ago and we have always ranked well and the client is very happy with the results. Tonight I notice a site that is http://wikilawsuit.org/drug-recalls/actos-side-effects-bladder-cancer-actos-lawsuit/ They are ranked fourth on Google. Our url which is http://actos-lawsuit.org/ is ranked 9th?? Frankly there are several sites ranked ahead and when you look at the parameters all the way across some we are killing. But Wiki, everyone is killing and it is still fourth. I ran it in OSE and the metrics came back better, but there is at best 3 to 4 real links out of 30 domains. This is a commercial site with a contact form in right sidebar and my guess is they are selling leads to lawyers. So they are about as Wiki as Hooters. That said, we see all the talk about quality links and I am seeing a lot of sites with few quality links and lots of junk links. Should we still believe it matters? Or, is it that it matters when the sites are huge (JC Penny), etc. but not if the site is under some critical number of poor links? Looking forward to a moz Fest on this.

Site: on Google
Hello, people. I have a quick question regarding search in Google. I use search operator [site:url] to see indexing stauts of my site. Today, I was checking indexing status and I found that Google shows different numbers of indexed pages depends on search setting. 1. At default setting (set as 10 search result shows) > I get about 150 pages indexed by Google. 2. I set 100 results shows per page and tried again. > I get about 52 pages indexed by Google. Of course I used same page URL. I really want to know which data is accurate. Please help people!!
