PR Media and Syndications
-
I’ve noticed that lot of my competitors who have good results in SERPs use or have used Pr Release and syndication to hundreds and thousands of sites. Just wondering how Google will react to the article that is published in different sites and has the same content and anchor link. Will it be considered a spam or no? Is it advisable to go with pr syndications after Penguin and Panda updates or no?
Thanks.

Thanks got the concept..

I would leave keyword density out of it - go ahead and do press releases, but your goal should be media coverage, not link building/SEO.

Well said Ruth, I also don’t favor the idea of duplicate content and anchored links from 1000’s of web sites. With new PR I’m trying to introduce the new product line that is described in a sub page of the web site. So you recommend contacting the PR media and asking them for a PR in their own words with necessary keyword density?
Thanks.

I would say, don't use press release syndication as a way to build links - it tends to generate duplicate content an David's right, the links aren't worth much. Instead, use PR the way PR is traditionally used - to build awareness and encourage media outlets to cover your stories in their own words. The last thing you want is for your own content to outrank you on somebody else's site!

Thanks David,
I don't want to do something and later regret about it. The best practice is to follow search engine guidelines. What I want to do is to get exposure and links that will be in help. I want the article to be in a user friendly way that will interest readers. Questions like: How the title should be written? Is the brand name supposed to be in the title? What is the best keyword density that I should keep? Should I use multiple keywords or just one with synonyms? How large should I go with syndication, 50 sites or 1000 sites? Are bothering me and as of now I don’t have any answer to these concerns. Can you provide me the best pr release writing tips, or an advice to mentioned above questions that might be in help?

Real companies use this as a marketing tactic thus google can never penalize you for something like this the most they will do is devalue the links.

Google PR & OSE DA/PA Question
Hey Moz Community, Can anyone explain why a website would have a PR4 Home page and most inner pages PR3 with only a DA12 and PA14 from OSE? The website in question is my Rotary club http://carymacgregorrotary.org. Thank you.

Managing Subsidiaries. Should I house them all in a single domain? What about a single social media presence?
Situation: My company has 8 subsidiaries. They each have their own niche (IT, Electrical, Roofing, etc...). We also have offices in multiple countries (If that's even a factor). Questions: 1. Should I establish a web presence for each one? (www.SubsidiaryOne.com) I would then link to these sites from www.ParentCompany.com. The other options are to do something like www.ParentCompany.com/SubsidiaryOne or SubsidiaryOne.ParentCompany.com. We are trying to build the brand of the parent company so I figured that housing everything inside of the parent company domain would help me meet my goal. Each company will have its own unique content, products, blogs, etc... 2. Should each subsidiary have its own social media presence (Its own Google+, Twitter, FB, etc...) or should I house them all under the umbrella of the parent? Thanks, Alex

Does link juice pass along the URL or the folders? 10yr old PR 6 site
We have a website that is ~10yrs old and a PR 6. It has a bunch of legitimate links from .edu and .gov sites. Until now the owner has never blogged or added much content to the site. We have suggested that to grow his traffic organically he should add a worpress blog and get agressive with his content. The IT guy is concerned about putting a wordpress blog on the same server as the main site because of security issues with WP. They have a bunch of credit card info on file. So, would it be better to just put the blog on a subdomain like blog.mysite.com OR host the blog on another server but have the URL structure be mysite.com/blog? I have tried to pass as much juice as possible. Any ideas?

What is the Proper Inbound Linking methodology? Is PR Sculpting gone?
Hi, I know that once there were discussions about "navigating" all links top wise to the main pages - for example to category pages in e-commerce sites. What is the proper methodology today? One example: Should I link out from a category main page which shows my products (a serious landing page) to a page that explains about the product? It makes sense but I don't want my about page to become the more important page (even though it does link back to the products category page). Thanks

My site was a PR 5 and now is unranked?
A site that I do SEO and SMM (www.corporatecomplianceinsights.com) had a PR 5 and now it shows "unranked". I had the #1 position for many core keywords, and now they are all gone. I don't do any black hat at all. Mostly article distribution and onsite content growth. The only logical thing that I can think of is, the server was going down several times a day, for about 3 days, a few weeks ago. But I can imagine that would cause me to lose all my rankings, and a PR 5. But then again, this has never happened to me before. I am trying to find out what caused this, how to fix the problem, and how long it will take to recover. Any suggestions or help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to pay for good advice on this issue if need be. JT

Buying up old domains, high PR, to absorb backlinks and authority?
I'm thinking about purchasing http://employeesurveyresource.com/ .. $300 It's showing a PR5, but I'm not seeing many backlinks in Y! site explorer or open site explorer. Has anyone been successful in absorbing the PR from older domains / domains without current content? I know sometimes people can fake PR by 301'ing from a high PR site, to sell the domain and then cancel the 301, leaving you with a dud. Can someone shed some light on this please? Thank you!
