How to Build High Quality eCommerce Web Site during Low Quality Web Pages?
-
Today, I was reading Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: More guidance on building high-quality sites.
I found one interesting statement over there.
Low-quality content on some parts of a website can impact the whole site’s rankings.
Why should I like to discuss on this topic? Because, I have made big change on my website via narrow by search.
I want to give specific result to know more about it.
This is my category page: http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas
Left narrow by search section is creating accurate page for specific attribute products.
California Umbrella:
http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas/shopby/manufacturer-california-umbrellaFrom above page following page is accessible.
Sunbrella Patio Umbrellas:
http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas/shopby/canopy-fabric-search-sunbrellaSimilar story for this page. Following page can accessible from above page.
http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas/shopby/canopy-fabric-search-sunbrella/finish-search-wood
My website have 100+ categories, 11,000 products.
I have checked indexed pages in Google for my website.
It shows me 35,000+ crawled pages which are developed by left navigation section.
So, Will it consider as low quality pages? I want to improve my website performance without delete these pages.

I don't like to set canonical tag on my eCommerce website. Because, I have already set up canonical tag on my previous version. I want to open my pages for crawling, indexing and ranking.
-
Do some reading on the canonical tag and using it on ecommerce sites.

Would be the network site map page considered link spam
In the course of the last 18 months my sites have lost from 50 to 70 percent of traffic. Never have used any tricks, just simple white-hat SEO. Anyway, I am now trying to fix things that hadn't been a problem before all those Google updates, but apparently now are. Would appreciate any help.. I used to have a network site map page on everyone of my sites (about 30 sites). It basically would be a page called 'our network' and it'll show a list of links to all of my other sites. These pages were indexed, had decent PR and didn't seem to cause any problem. Here's an example of one of them:

http://www.psoriasisguide.ca/psoriasis_scg.html In the light of Panda and Penguin and all these 'bad links' I decided to get rid of most of them. My traffic didn't recover at all, it actually went further down. Not sure if there is any connection to what I'd done. So, the question is: In your opinion/experience, do you think such network sitemap pages could be causing penalties for link spam?0 -
New Web Page Not Indexed
Quick question with probably a straightforward answer... We created a new page on our site 4 days ago, it was in fact a mini-site page though I don't think that makes a difference... To date, the page is not indexed and when I use 'Fetch as Google' in WT I get a 'Not Found' fetch status... I have also used the'Submit URL' in WT which seemed to work ok... We have even resorted to 'pinging' using Pinglar and Ping-O-Matic though we have done this cautiously! I know social media is probably the answer but we have been trying to hold back on that tactic as the page relates to a product that hasn't quite launched yet and we do not want to cause any issues with the vendor! That said, I think we might have to look at sharing the page socially unless anyone has any other ideas? Many thanks Andy

Splash/Warning Pages at front of site
We are looking at working on a site that needs a warning for users visiting - This splash/warning page is the only just google sees this not performing well in search engine - The sites are Wordpress sites - Would we use script to force a full screen pop up? This would be needed on a visit but if the user leaves and returns to the site the warning would need to reappear. Any ideas?

Separate Site or should we incorporate it into our main site
Hello, We have a website to sell personal development trainings. The owners want to start 2 blogs - one for each owner - that promotes their personal coaching practices. What's the SEO advantages of embedding both blogs in the current site vs starting 2 brand new blogs with their names as the domain names?

How do I handle building links to an eCommerce site where the product pages change regularly because product is only available for a certain time frame? Should I focus on building links to the category pages instead?
