I must be tripping. How is this site ranking for the term "SEO Company"??????
-
When I go to Google non-custom search results and search the term: seo company
The website "greencowseo.com" is ranked 3rd. OpenSiteSearch shows nothing.
And get this... the domain was registered 14 days ago by somebody in Egypt.
Do I need to quit my SEO Moz membership and hire this guy?
-
they are number 1 for seo company now/
-
Just wait till the next Penguin refresh. They'll likely tank.
-
Laugh remind you of anywhere much - http://www.r2media.co/ - just screams seomoz
-
hurry up! everyone write up a few niche one pagers and slap adsense on them for prime keywords and hire these guys before there tactics get obliverated!
Haha. I'm just kidding of course
-
Looks like a build and burn job to me, it wont last long....
-
Its the same for SEO UK, the number 1 site there is just a spam site with 1000;s of pages all created for local searches and all pointing back at them.
Its a shambles at the moment the quality of the web is going downhill however, Googles last quarter results are up and i suppose to them it shows they are going in the right direction.
Surly Google can see all of this its not quality any-more
-
I'm predicting the future here...
bluecowseo.com <= Future spam site
seoration.com <= Future spam siteplimun.com <= Feed site
spekt.com <= Feed site
autson.com <= Feed site -
Agreed, it is impressive no matter how they did it. I guess if Google isn't smart enough to catch the spam domain, they wouldn't be smart enough to tie the two domains together (unless somebody rat them out of course).
-
If they are doing what I think they are then it's actually quite a clever way of getting business.
They don't want to damage their main rankings by generating a mass of links quickly so they leave that as a quality website with a quality link profile.
But to get the business in they setup a separate domain and use aggressive link building their instead, maybe they rank for a few days or a few weeks, within that time they will pick up lots of work because of the shire search volume on the keyword.
That's my spin on it anyway.
Either way about it, they must know what they are doing because I still see it as quite an accomplishment to rank for that term black hat, white hat, aggressive link building whatever.
-
Just called the phone number on the website and it lead me to this company:
ciplex [dot] com
Which has the same address as what is listed on the spam site.Does this in any way put their non-spam domain in harm's way?
-
They are trusted by Dell lol,
With this kind of link activity im sure they will have their 3-4 days of fame and disappear.
-
Sites do of course go viral. Rarely within the first 14 days and with only 2 keyword anchor texts. I didn't think penguins hibernated but I'll have to check into that now. This would be a far cry from a natural linking pattern, especially considering they are 2 highly competitive keywords. I've seen this type of stuff many times before, but nothing like this since April of this year.
Maybe Mr. Cutts should take a moment away from the camera and dig into this one. Until Big G (who puts all these rules on us) stops rewarding these blatant disregards for the rules quicker, this guy will keep doing it time and time again with different domains... and in different niches.
-
Does Google really reward white hat?
Yes.
_Since this is now obvious to us as to what he's doing, it begs the question as to WHY Big G can't tell what's going on here. _
The internet is a big place, sites go viral all the time and exhibit the same kind of link velocities. Given that ..I think they do a good jump of weeding out those who are faking it.
-
So let me ask you this...
Since this is now obvious to us as to what he's doing, it begs the question as to WHY Big G can't tell what's going on here. A domain that's 14 days old with thousands of backlinks, all (or almost all) of which are keyword targeted.
Can anybody shed light on this?
A domain these days only costs $8. The b.s. strategies he's using probably cost him under a couple hundred bucks. He's got to be making a boat load of more money on this even if he gets ONE client.
Does Google really reward white hat?
-
ugggh...in bold "We provides Innovative" solutions.
1. He won't last long.
2. OSE is updated once a month. So don't expect fresh links to appear in the index.
Majestic says he's got 11,000 backlinks, Ahrefs says 15,000. All using just "seo" and "seo company" as anchor text. He's also ranking #9 for seo. Check out the links created per day over at ahrefs:
https://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/backlinks-new/subdomains/www.greencowseo.com
Yep, definitely a rank and bank operation.

I am confused/frustrated/surprised how bad my website is doing on google ranking
Hello, I am confused/frustrated/surprised how bad my website (flyhy.co) is doing on google ranking and I have no clue why even though I have been doing my homework regarding SEO. Just a bit of background, I have created a new website about 6 months ago for the paragliding community, the primary goal is to provide a platform for people to publish their ads (osclass), but also to provide some interesting reviews and tools to help paragliders chose their wing. We have been putting a lot of effort to provide a nice user experience and tio build the tools mentioned above. Our main channel to connect with the community is Facebook, and we have been quite active there. I have looked at many SEO articles and I made sure the website provides a good UX, the URLs are SEO friendly, good meta data, etc. Also have been using the google search console and analytics to monitor all of this. But here is the thing, all these does not seem to change anything in our ranking for important keywords such as "paraglider for sale", "paragliding equipment", etc. We seem to only rank (looking at Google’s keyword tool) for very specific wing model names that people have mentioned in their ads. I have ran out of ideas on how to improve our SEO !!!!!! I know the website is only 6 months old, but by now we should get some results. As an example, I will mention one our main website competitors: www.paraglidingequipment.org. OK the URL is pretty obvious and this website ranks in page #1 for "paragliding equipment" (but also for "paraglider for sale" and other paragliding related key phrases). OK there is the URL (paraglidingequipment.org), but I thought nowadays google bots are smarter than just that. The website is 1 year old (so not really much older than us, and was ranking high anyway even 6 months ago). The website looks like it was clearly made by one person and then quickly just left it running, so no content has been added (except for people putting their ads), there is almost no activity on the Facebook account. I have run some test such as "pagespeed insights" and we both rank the same. On "seositecheckup.com", we are clearly better with more 10 points. Is there anyone out there who can tell me what is going on? Have I missed a very important aspect of SEO? Is our website somehow compromising the robots crawling (although I can see about 80 pages have been already indexed in google search console)? I know content is king, but in paraglidingequipment.org the only content I see are ads, and we have ads and other interesting (ie reviews and tools) for paragliders. To conclude, I am basically completely clueless of what to do to rank at least on the first couple of pages of google for the key phrases above. I need help. Hichem. PS: in Moz bar our score is non existing (PA=1,DA=10), on paraglidingequipment.org (PA=23,DA=15). So it looks that essentially we are not apparent on the web! PSS: We have also tried to build some backlinks on few important paragliding community websites.

Why am I trusting in MozRank and the other scores (from a part time SEO perspective)?
I'll jump right in. I look at the "Competitive Link Analysis" and I see that it says at the top "See the Top 5 contenders for each SEO ranking factor and compare it against the competition." I take them at their word that the 5 links they are displaying are what they think the 5 best links are. On my site they do alright, although my top 3 links are from the same domain, and I know that those links aren't really that great. But they are decent and whatever. The next two are good links. HOWEVER, the links for my competitors are in many cases CRAP. Yet Moz shows them as being the best link my competitor's have. Or at least in this analysis. For example, The number 1 link (supposedly) for a competitor of mine is a link from their own Pinterest page. They have 50 followers. I have personally dug up links they have that are 1000X better than this link. Links so much better that someone just using common sense and no training whatsoever would know that it is a better link. I do get valuable information from this site, but stuff like this makes me wonder if I'd be just fine without any of their link building tools and just going on my own. I do not trust their accuracy. And yes, I've read all the blogs about how they correlate to rankings... Am I missing something? I know you can't be perfect, but this stuff seems to be very poor information in some cases. I have been a member for a year roughly.

Ecommerce seo - competitors are using spammy links to rank HELP
After setting up SEO Moz and whilst waiting for it to crawl my site i have checked out my competitors who are ranking for the keywords i am going after. It appears from what i can see in OSE that they are ranking with back links from spammy looking sites and lots of exact match anchor text. I have tried to match a few links with what they have currently without getting myself into anything too spammy but i really don't want to follow how they have done it exactly. The niche i am in is pretty boring but the rewards are great but i am finding creating content and distributing it correctly difficult which is why i need some help. My site is roughly 9 months old and the product descriptions are hand written trying to give as much info as possible with a hint of personality so no cookie cutter back of the box descriptions. i have matched a few of the links from competitors which weren't too spammy and as relevant as i could get to my niche, i have also created articles for some article directories - all of which isn't really getting me very far and i am running out of ideas on how to create new content & the types of new content to help me get back links naturally. If any of you friendly guys could offer me some assistance in setting up a basic seo campaign which would help me target my keywords i would be very much in your debt

Improving SERP rankings via strategic SEO tactics
Hi, We just build some of our new content pages on our website 1.https://www.practo.com/ray/dental-software 2.https://www.practo.com/ray/dermatology-software 3.https://www.practo.com/ray/homeopathy-software Could someone explain how do I build around a good SEO strategy to compete with others for better positions on the SERP's. I have not done anything apart from fixing proper title tags , and meta descriptions etc and of course putting down relevant fresh content onto these pages. These pages were published about 3 weeks ago - Only this url ranks on the 2nd page as of now for keywords like "dermatology software" https://www.practo.com/ray/dermatology-software The rest of the URL's do not rank anywhere till the 10th SERP too! What could be wrong and where could I have the opportunity to boost the SEO tactics since all the pages which rank above it are just not providing the right kind of product as we are and still they take up the top positions and genuine users miss out on our domain. Thanks . Looking forward to some awesome responses.

What is the difference between "external backlinks" & "referring domains" on Majestic SEO?
According to Majestic SEO's glossary, a "Referring domain, also known as "ref domain", is a domain from which a backlink is pointing to a page or link." Given this definition, I'm not sure what an external backlink is?

Keyword Ranks reported by SEOMOZ don't match actual searches
SEO Moz reported that various keywords I was tracking were not in the top 50 results on Yahoo or Bing, yet when I did a Yahoo or Bing search for those keywords (from multiple computers and not logged into any Yahoo or MSN/Bing account) I found the keywords easily. What's the scoop?
