Guest Post Blogging And Exchanging Links
-
Hi,
I hope you are all well.
Would there be any problem with exchanging a guest blog, so two websites doing a guest post for each other and both sites linking back to each other.
I don't think this would be an issue on a small scale though I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.
Are there any other things I should bear in mind when doing this as well?
Kind Regards

Wow, thanks. Beyond the call of duty that!
Yes I did know, I recently hired a trainee in-house SEO who is talking with our web design company and sorting this out at the moment.
There is a lot to do! Though I'm asking him to concentrate on a different site which he just finished building.
Thanks again.

I see, well lesson learned there Thanks for sharing the valuable information!
I may do the same with allowing guest posts on our blog now, not that we post that many though.
-
BTW: Did you know your site is showing the same meta description tag for almost every page?
This is on the home page, contact page, about us, below market value , ect.

I ended up rebuilding on a different domain. Google loves blogs but they have been heavily abused and Google looks for it. I will not be looking for blog links any time in the near future!! It has been a headache.
We will allow guest posting on our blog, but it has to be e-commerce related and we only allow one guest post a month with one back link.
-
It varys to be honest, about 60/50 at the moment. 60% being websites with a dedicated page asking for guest posts.
I will have a quick look at their back link profile before I send them my content though.
Thanks for the warning though, really becoming clear you have to be so carful!
I hope you managed to sort it out?

I like the way you look at it
Thank you for you help

Are you going to be the only guest blogger for the other website, or do they allow others to guest blog as well? I learned the hard way that you don't want to place your links on spammy blogs. If every other post has links to random sites I would avoid it.

Though with a small budget it's really hard to do much else to get links..
I don't worry about links. I create lots of very good content for keywords that have modest competition. These can succeed with just a few links that will arrive naturally in the first year or two that they are on the web. The key is in creating best-on-the-web content and patiently spending your time on more content while links naturally arrive.
If you are trying to sell something, don't build an ecommerce site. Instead, build an information site with a store.

Great shout!
I will do that, thanks

Jeff,
Just one thing to point out. I would personally worry that Google would see this as reciprocal linking and knock you for the post. I would not post both posts at the same time. I would post one article and then you or the website, could wait around a week before posting the reciprical article.

You're always answering my nooby questions you legend!
Excellent, and some interesting views there.
"I don't do guest blogging myself. I think that my content is best placed on my own site." - Agreed!
Though with a small budget it's really hard to do much else to get links, without giving away all your secrets have you got any tips or suggestions of other ideas?
-
I don't think this would be an issue on a small scale..
I agree. On a small scale, no problem. Nothing wrong with an author sharing his work. I don't think that a few dozen of these posts would be a problem.
The only caution that I would take is to avoid keyword anchor text links and duplicate copies of your articles on other websites.
A few people give me occasional articles. Any links in those articles use their domain or the author's name as the anchor text.
I don't do guest blogging myself. I think that my content is best placed on my own site. I don't want to feed my competitors or make new ones. Most of the people who give me articles are doing it because "they have a message to get out" rather than because they are looking for a source of links.

Want to remove a large amount of links from spam sites. SEO company says we will lose a lot of link juice?
Hi, We have a lot of links that have a spam score above 30% and 60%. I don't know if someone has spammed our website. However our SEO company has said we should remove these carefully over a period of 3 months while they add new good links. I don't quite trust this advice. Are they trying to get more business?? They have put doubt in our mind. Can anyone please shed any light on this?? Thank you

Question RE: Links in Headers, Footers, Content, and Navigation
This question is regarding this Whiteboard Friday from October 2017 (https://moz.com/blog/links-headers-footers-navigation-impact-seo). Sorry that I am a little late to the party, but I wanted to see if someone could help out. So, in theory, if header links matter less than in-content links, and links lower on the page have their anchor text value stripped from them, is there any point of linking to an asset in the content that is also in the header other than for user experience (which I understand should be paramount)? Just want to be clear. Also, if in-content links are better than header links, than hypothetically an industry would want to find ways to organically link to landing pages rather than including that landing page in the header, no? Again, this is just for a Google link equity perspective, not a user experience perspective, just trying to wrap my head around the lesson. links-headers-footers-navigation-impact-seo

Bot or Virus Creating Bad Links?
Hey Everyone, We are getting ready to engage a client for some potential marketing/SEO so in preparing for this have ran the site through OpenSiteExplorer. The site is relatively new and there are only two links under the inbound links section. They are relevant and add value, no issues there. Here is where it get strange. When I look under the 'Just Discovered' section there are many (hundreds) new links going back about a month. Virtually all of them have the anchor text 'Louis Vuitton outlet'. Now the client swears he has not engaged anyone for black hat SEO, so wondering who could possibly be creating these links. They do sell some Louis Vuitton items on the site, so I'm wondering if it is possible that some spam bot has picked up the site and began to spam the web with links to the clients site. So far today, 50 or so new links have been created with said anchor text and the clients root URL all on very poor quality, some foreign blog sites. Would like to find out why this is happening and put a stop to it for obvious reasons. Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be a bot? Or maybe someone with an axe to grind against the client? Anyone could be doing this on their own, but just seems strange for it to be happening to a new site that does not even rank highly at the moment. Any advice or info is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Benefits of having outbound links
Are there any strengths (benefits) in having outbound links within the site regarding SEO? If linking to reputable sites, would that help increase our SEO strength or does that only work if they links back to us?

Partner Site In Bound Links
We have a staffing agency client that uses a 3rd party site (with different URL) to display open jobs for web viewers to see. However we are getting a bunch of backlinks from this site from the footer because it is set up as a White Label... Should I add a rel=nofollow to the links in the footer? Disavow the links from the site? Do nothing? I am not really sure. Thanks!

Link Espionage?
Can anyone tell why pages like this are linking to our site? http://iga.edu/facebooktabs/images/inscribirse/formulario/en/noclosingcost.html This .edu page looks benign, however if you read it, it wont take long to see what appears to be machine generated content related to finance. It has ONLY ONE outgoing link and it to my site. To me it seems to be an attempt to make us look like a link buyer. We aren't! There are dozens of these type of pages linking to us. Here's the text around the link to our site, ERATE.com Apr the origination fee alone will cost you at closing however what your broker isn t should you pay a loan origination fee or get a no fee mortgage when refinancing refinancing mortgage rates scandal could cost you a year arkansas california colorado connecticut delaware. Potential Implications of using the Disavow tool to remove thousands of links
So here's the situation. My companies site has over 30 thousand backlinks from Rippling.info These links all point to 3 product pages, some of which are no longer in production. Apparently a former employee was experimenting with some link farm ideas. My questions are; 1. does anyone here have experience with rippling.info? Is it legit? It seems like a link farm but Google allows adsense ads??? I thought Google was against link farms... 2. if I use the Disavow tool in Webmaster Tools to tell Google these 30k+ incoming links are to be ignored, will there be any consequences? -Google Analytics shows zero referral traffic since jan 1st 2012.

Getting Credit for your own inbound links
Good afternoon, I have been comparing competitors with the Open Site Explorer looking at their inbound links. I have noticed that they have been getting credit for their own inbound links within their site. Is there something I am doing wrong as inbound links on my site aren't getting found? Could this have anything to do with Webmaster tools? Thanks in advance, SEO_123
